I talked to "Nino" yesterday -- he rides an Aprilia 250 in the amateur class down here (he wears "tuxedo" leathers), and he is doing fine after a spill at Moroso. He fell and then got run over -- broke his leg as a result.
He says he can't wait to get back to racing -- go, Nino, go!
That reminds me.....
Any update on Sucba Steve?
Dawn ;)
Nino pitted with us on his first race at Homestead, great guy and I love the leathers. I heard about the spill, glad to hear that he is doing better. Scuba toe was on the Jennings site earlier, seems to be waiting to see whether he can fly again but he has been pretty quiet, hopefully he is recovering well.
Sorry I confused scuba steve with scuba toe. I haven't heard about Steve for a couple of weeks. Best wishes there as well
Hey Nate, what turn did his "FALL" happen in???

Steve continues with therapy at Tampa General Hospital... twice a day as an inpatient there... in a few weeks he should be moving home, but continuing therapy throughout the next year.
I'll tell him you all asked about him when I visit next.

I believe he was exiting the first chicane . . . as for figuring out just what happened, here's what I recall: he had brand new tires on . . . I don't remember if it was early in the session or not, and there wasn't much damage to the bike, as far as I could see. Scrapes on the right side. Nino said he thought the guy who hit him also ran over his rear wheel . . .
ok WE remember this now. if it did happen the t3-4 then he was by himself. he lost the front tire and lowsided. he got up and picked his bike up. when the runner got there (was not me this time) he moved the bike off the track and Nino hoped off. he said he hurt his ankle. that is all we remember. well anyway glad to hear he is doing better anyway.
Ah, yes -- you would have had a front row seat. Do you remember that there was another guy who went down at the same place? Nino said the guy who hit him also crashed . . .
That was an unusal weekend. i dont remember 2 bikes going down that weekend in my turn. i know that turn 2 had 2 bikes go down. one of them was melka. and i beleive that it was during a race, because the other guy that went down went in after that. melka sayed in the turn for like 1-2 laps and re-entered the race. now that i am thinking bout this, i think turn 5-6 had 2 bikes go down. i will ask him later today to see if he remembers anything.
