Title: 2003 race dates???
Post by: thetireguy on November 20, 2002, 09:21:14 AM
Any word on some tenitive race dates yet? I see CMRA and WERA have something up on both of their sites.

Also with the GLRRA/MGP pulling the plug on their series at Gratten and WERA shows up to take a bunch of them it would appear.

Would be nice to try and avoid conflicts to allow the race service folks time to be two or three places at once a chance to work out the details.

See Ya at the PARTY,
Tom Mason

Hey, Tommy...

Schedule looks similar to last season, date wise.  I don't have it in front of me, but you can check out my VRS dates above.  Those are to coincide with the BFR dates.

Thanks Dave, I got your dates already posted in my date book. Looking forward to 2003 and the NEW Blackhawk. I still am shocked that the day finally came to pave the place.

Well, at least the owner actually has to race on it, unlike other tracks.  They've been up grading little things over several years.  They're trying to make it so they can be there for the long term.

I'm hoping to drop by on Saturday to check it out.

Where have you guys been? This is what, the third repaving I've seen since '86.  I'd say that's not too bad.  Apparently you never went to the old Nelson Ledges track with the weeds growing thru the cracks and pot holes that could eat a bike live.

Or race on a real road course.  I mean a race on a street.  Or how about an old airport track.

Ray tells me that they are grinding five layers of asphalt.

I'm going to go check it out tomorrow.

SD-  Let us know what you think after the visit.  Items of particular interest to me are Turn 6, 6A and heading over the road.  Also, how about drainage?

On a different subject... Do you know if the Midwest region will be using any Airfence at locations other than Gateway and RA?  I was just thinking turn 2 and 4 would benefit from some additional safety items at Blackhawk.

Looking forward to your input, oh Wise One.

I suppose they could.  I highsided out of BFR turn two a few years ago.  Still didn't get me to the barrier.  I think it's a long way to go given the radius of the corner.  Four used to be really bad, but now with the little bus stop thing, it's different, not as bad.

All of the concrete was busted up and out of turn six, I know, as I saw it on Blackhawk's site.

Up at the top there is a section titled "Repaving".

Oh, and I have heard that there should be race dates at Gateway in June, July, September, and October.  Don't know the exact dates, but look at what the schedule was last year, and I would bet it would be similar.

Does that mean there'll only be 4 BHF weekends?   :(

Or does SD only do 4 weekends every year?

If not, do you have any idea how many dates at BHF and how many at RA?

6 and 2 like last year?

Anyone?

Six BFR, two RA, four Gateway, two Gingerman, and two MAM.

Don't know the exact dates, but that would be about right.

Four dates for my VRS programs at BFR.  Probably will do some work at some other schools, but that is a bit different.
