Sin City. 'nuff said. ;D
So you're saying that the movie is better than the previews you see on TV? I didn't find anything appealing about the advertisements, but then again I felt that way about the movie 'Forgotten'.
'Forgotten' was a suspensfull movie that made you jump at times... Man, I thought my heart was going to stop at some of those scenes.
;)
This is film noir at it's absolute best, for the 21st century no less. It's stylish, edgy, cutting edge with the graphix, and every single character is exactly as originally written. It's not a "star' vehicle for any one actor or actress, but a way for an ensemble cast to shine without being in the spotlight. If you like Tarantino (Kill Bill 1&2, Pulp Fiction), Rodrigeuz (Once upon a time in Mexico, Spy Kids), Or the Frank Miller Graphic Novels (Dark Knight, Sin City), You will absolutely love this film.
The women are all drop dead gorgeous, the men are what men think they want to be ;), and the story telling is beyond compare. This is not a film for kids. It earned it's "R" rating the hard way, and yet it doesn't seem over done.
My Prediction: This film will garner a number of Golden Globe and Oscar nods for it's sheer innovation in technology and art direction. I don't know whether there will be a best director nod, due to the controversy surrounding the way this film was made.
what she said ;D .. saw it Friday .. Great movie !!!

I didn't catch any of the controversy over the director. Hit me with the short story.
Basically Rodriguez want to co-direct with Miller. Not allowed according to the director's guild. So Rodriguez resigned from the guild. In the opening credits they're listed as co-directors anyway. ;D
I saw that. They also have Tarantino listed as a "guest" director.
Yeah, he did the scene with the talking body (Benicio del Toro) in the car. 8)
lots o' boobies...
nuff said...
oh and lots of blood and carnage...
not exactly a chick flick. U gotta see it! well worth the money.
Laura and I REALLY liked it. Unfortunately, our theatre was having sound problems, so now that we've seen it, we'll have to go back and HEAR it!
K3: "Miss? The sound is bad in the theatre that's playing Sin City."
Girl: "OK, we'll fix it."
K3, ten minutes later: "Miss, the sound is STILL bad. It seems like you've dropped a channel or you've got the Dolby selector in the wrong position. It sounds like when my home theatre system is switched to Stadium while I watch a regular TV show. It's got to be as simple as turning a switch! Can you PLEASE fix it?"
Girl: "We turned up the volume!"
K3: "Yes you did. And now it's painfully loud, but I STILL can't hear any dialog out of the left front channel! The actor's lips move, but there is only a whisper of sound!
Girl: "The movie is just like that. It's part of the style."
K3, about to blow: "It was doing it during the previews, too! Are ALL new movies recorded in a style where you can't hear 30 % of the dialog? Is the new Star Wars movie recorded so you can't hear Darth Vader?"
Girl: "No one else has complained."
K3: "THAT'S BECAUSE THERE ARE SIX PEOPLE IN THERE, AND I'M THE ONLY ONE WILLING TO KEEP GETTING UP AND TELLING YOU THAT YOU'RE NOT DOING YOUR JOB!"
Girl: "Maybe your hearing is bad, sir."
K3 "GET THE MANAGER!"
Girl: "This is the night shift. There are only two of us here. There is no manager."
K3, blood dripping from fingernail wounds in palms and bitten lip: "Will there be one here tomorrow afternoon?"
Girl: "Maybe. Do you want a rain check?"
K3: "NO. I want you to do your job. Failing that, I want to see you to LOSE your job. I'll be working on that tomorrow, even if I have to get corporate on the phone. Thanks for all your help!"
Girl: "Enjoy the rest of your movie, sir."
That sux! We have Marcus theatre systems where we live and have attended numerous movies at the Ridge in New Berlin. Any time there is a perceived problem with the showing, no matter matinee or prime time, they issue a credit to every single patron at that showing. We've gotten 4 or 5 free movies over the years, and I can only remember knowing the reason twice. Yeah ticket prices are going up a quarter, but I'll gladly pay it because we've always had a good experience there.
