Title: Michelin contingency problems! GRRRRRRRRRRR!
Post by: cbrf4_269 on March 24, 2005, 12:12:49 PM
Any one else having these problems, I am getting nothing from Michelin and this BS!  I have been loyal to michelin for YEARS and now that have all the contingency filled out and have podiumed... I get problems from Michelin.

Any one have any assistance would be helpful cause I am getting the run around from them.  This is Ridiculous, I used to hold michelin to a higher standard, but I guess I was wrong.  considering the last time they showed up on a F-usa Event Saturday afternoon, and were putting tires on the wrong way and had NO clue what they were doing.  Plus that Mid-atlantic region has has ZERO stability over the last 6 years.  I am just about to say screw this and hope over to pirelli.  Seriously, michelin has been getting worse and worse and now this is the LAST straw!!!!  WTF!!!!!!!  I have called michelin and I get a number 800 580 6738 and they don't answer or call back, cause that would be professional right..   ::)

Wow.  Mid-Atlantic, that's Walt, isn't it?  If it is, I'm surprised to hear that.

I've always been happy with Michelin tires - but what's really kept me there is the distributor (Tom Mason and Walt.)  If I ever had problems with contingency I just took it to Tom and he handled it.

It is Walt and I have been racing for 6 almost 7 years and Michelin has been..... shitty to say the least.  I have almost ALWAYS had to have the tires shipped to me, no tire assistance, info, nothing.  I have been doing it all on my own for a long ass time.  I have a GREAT amount of patience but it at an ends meet.  If some one that has a talking relationship with Tom could ask if he could offer assistance, that would be great.  cause latest I got was some dude named "randy" at 864 458 5000 and he will be out till monday.  So back to the waiting game....... GRRRRRR  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I am getting REALLY REALLY pissed about this considering my level of loyalty that I have displayed for 6 years.

Tom has been great to us and has remedied any problems that have ever occurred. The Michelin support here in the Midwest has always been top notch and product info is always readily available.

I feel for you man :'( My best season ever was on michelin. Never saw one tire. Not even when I won a national. The following year after alot of #$%* . They told me about a form that I had to fill out and send to the home office. I did so and received a card. Like a credit card for tires.I thought that was the end of my problems,Not! I received $180.00 for a full season of  podium finishes. Tom is a great guy ,but I'm sure he will refer you to Walt. Walt does everything on this side of the Missisipi. My advise to you (Take it or leave it) is if support is important to you ,switch . I did last year. Don't get me wrong,I love those tires! But I fell better all around with my decision. Ask yourself, is it worth all that? I do this for fun ;D Free tires is a bonus 8)

I sent a PM to cbrf4_269 asking for the nature of the problem. Hoping for a phone call to hear the whole story.

3rd year on michelin.. No such problems. My card is updated regularly after a couple months. Frank Kinsey will give you more info than you ever want as far as tire support and info. Perhaps its a Florida region thing?

Same here. Many years on Michelins and never had a problem with contingency. My card was always updated properly. One of the things that you may have to consider is whether the race org. sent in the results in a timely manner.

Good point Edgar. Issues like this always seem to fall back on the sub distributor because that is who the riders see every weekend.

I've already beat that horse to death. Just give up. After going though the whole chain of command,I speak from experience. All those people above know my story. Not one could help. I told my story to Moose at Trackside Supply, and he decided to sponsor my effort. That's the kind of support I'm talking about.
I've said enough about this issue. Good Luck cbr..

tireguy

I called cbr and he got your PM.  At this point I also told him to just switch to Ps.  We aslo chatted about Moose. As I've delt with moose for two years and has a stand up dealer.

There will always be issues with Ms in MA since there are not a lot of people that ride on them here.

I believe the Mid-Atlantic region will now be serviced by Sportbike Track Time. Check with Monte Lutz or Quintin Mize, instead of Walt.

The issues you guys are having may be resolved a couple of ways.

If I had a rider claiming he did not get paid, I would ask that rider to make some copies of the official race results from that region. We would then check to make sure that the classes entered had the minimum number of racers to be eligible for awards. With the full season of race results in hand we would send this into Michelin along with a verification from the regional race distributor that all requirements were followed. A tally of what should have been paid to that rider and things got taken care of.

Filling out the rider registration sheet once a year, along with a tech form every race weekend.
Patches on leathers, stickers on bike and listing Michelin as a sponsor, 8 to 10 bikes per class. Basic stuff.

I have seen racers with race results posted on the web site for the full season that did not check to see that the promotor listed the proper brand of tire as a riders sponsor.

Riders jump around from tire to tire and not keep the folks in race control or tech informed to make the required changes to the official results posted on the web.

What happens when the folks at whatever tire you are racing go to the site to verify compliance for the program? See the wrong brand posted, You don't get paid!

I don't know yet what issue cbrf4_269 has had with his contingency program, but I'll try and be of service if you want me to.

Regards, Tom
