Title: enough room in leathers for back protector?
Post by: ecumike on February 15, 2002, 12:03:12 PM
I forgot about getting a back protector when I bought my leathers... how much room do they take up.  Should I have made room for them by buying 1 size larger?

If my leathers 'fit' me (not tight) will I have room?  or will I need to sell 'em and buy another size bigger?

Hmm, guess that depends on the back protector, but my Bohn back protector fits ok under my leathers, and they were tight without it.

Just buy a back protector and find out!  Your leathers will stretch some over time anyways.

Bohn Pro-racer back protectors work great, and dont take up much room at all. once you wear it (and sweat in it a few times) it will actually conform to the contours of your back. I've been using mine (actually from when they were made by knox) for 5 years now, and love it. i don't even know its there. Our shop has sold a ton of 'em, and they come in a couple of sizes. They go for around $79.00, and are a sound long lasting investment. Another great bonus is they don't have the hard plates that grind the back of your leathers into the pavement when you slide on your back, so they tend to spare you from destroying your leathers.
