First time at Daytona this year, and I must report to the group that -- although it's embarrassing as hell -- the funniest and most enjoyable part of the weekend for me had to be when I made a last-lap pass for what I THOUGHT was the lead . . . then practically held my breath on the banking to see if I could hold the point to the flag. I did manage to make the pass stick, and as soon as I crossed the line I was waving to the cornerworkers like mad, pumping my fist to celebrate my "first win," waving to my dad at the fence around the International Horseshoe . . .
As it turned out, I had not won -- I guess there were a couple of guys so far up the road that I didn't even see 'em? Ahh, but what a wonderful cool down lap.
So did ya atleast finish 3rd? ;D
Yes, yes I did. ;D
you shoulda seen my celebration for my 7th place!!! ;D
congrats again on the podium, brother!
QuoteYes, yes I did. ;D
Well then you rock! 8)
Yes, that was an impressive stand up wheelie you did down the whole infield straight. Show off!
it was a backwards-facing tank wheelie...
get it right. I've got mad-stunta skillz, yo!
and by the way, Nate...next time I try and talk you into coming to an event, don't listen to me. I coulda had a 6th place!
stay away...no more for you... ;D
Will you be performing any one-footed, no-look wheelies at Moroso?

LOL awesome. Nothing wrong with a podium.
Sounds like you guys had a blast out there. I had big time problems with my SV. Valves were stuck wide open and they were extremely tight on the rear cylinder. :'( Oh well. I did ok though on thurs at the hammer practice. I was doing 1:58's my second practice session. Not bad i guess for never racing there before. It hurt to watch you guys out their having a blast. Yeah well next year, and summit point is right around the corner. Congrats to yah all. ;D
Good lord -- I don't think I got under 2:09 all weekend.

2:09 not bad at all. Congrats on that 3rd place finish!
Yes -- the results were really great. My dad was there, too, and he was all fired up. We've been to Daytona every year since I was 5, but this was the first time we were in the race and not just watching.
Meanwhile, there are apparently at least 9 seconds I can cut off my lap time!

Brake late, trust your tires & yourself, & race it like you stole it! ;D

the fastest I had was 2:14...(insert excuses about first real race weekend and only my second time on a track ever...HERE!;D) I can't wait for ROC...I know that I'll get under 2:05 in Oct...I just know it. the whole drive home I was finding time in my head. more seat time combined with the whole "ride it like you stole it" thing=me faster.
Nate, just don't ever come to Summit and show me up on my home track!
Summit? That sounds really interesting . . . where is it, and when do we get to race there?

Cough -- cough -- ack! I just can't seem to beat this flu/sore throat/migraine . . . My coworkers . . . must . . . carry on . . . without me!
WV . . . hmm. For that kind of mileage I'll need a diesel pickup truck.
