Title: Supermoto bike rules?
Post by: Shady on March 01, 2005, 03:33:41 PM
I'll be riding the supermoto bike in ultralightweight superbike this weekend and have been trying to decipher the rulebook as to how the rules will affect a bike that is generally not roadraced.  I know that you need a belly pan that can hold all of the oil in the engine, but are there any other rules that I need to prepare for that I dont have to concern myself with on a road bike?  I was thinking that a turkey basting pan safety wired to the frame could hold the 2/3 quart of oil in a CRF450 engine...any other ideas for a good belly pan?  TIA!

Kickstarter retainment.  There's a rule that kickstarters must be retained.  I have a little nylon strap with a snap clasp (was a dog collar) that holds the kickstarter to the frame.  I have a friend that just used a loop of safety wire on his RZ.

Other than a belly pan and breather catch can, that's about it.  Luckily on my 2-stroke I don't need to worry about either.
