Title: fiddy days
Post by: Jeff on March 01, 2005, 06:21:37 AM
50 days until we're (midwest) on the track.  Here's what I've got left.  How about you?

* New bike in garage, still ripped apart.
* Waiting for...
      - Exhaust
      - Brake lines
      - Damper return
      - New damper mounting kit
      - Bodywork
      - Quickshifter
      - Slipper clutch
      - Another chain
      - Misc gearing
* Need to get some minor motor work done
* Need to get bodywork painted (decide on scheme)
* Waiting patiently for a *MAJOR* delivery which will determine if I have to rework my trailer or not.

Ugh...  I guess I should throw this all into a project plan.

Bike #1
1) Completely flush front brakes and replace the broken resivour
2) Setup a new exhaust hanger
3) Mod subframe to accomodate new tail section
4) Repair upper sand and repaint.
5) Repair tank sand and repaint
6) Repeat for lower
7) Change tires
8) Change Oil

Bike #2
1) Paint number plates on, and figure out why lower doesn't clear the exhaust
2) Install Jet Kit.
3) Eliminate Street Parts, and put solo tail on.
4) Safety Wire
5) Change Oil
6) Put new rear shock on
7) Change Tires

I have bike #1 tore down but not much more. I need to get my butt in gear.

Such little tasks and so much time you have...

Our first race weekend is THIS weekend, we will be on track Friday. I'm taking a day off work tomorrow to do a bottom end rebuild on my motor!  Here's what I'm doing the next couple days.

Bike 1: My TZ
Drop engine, spilt cases, replace crankshaft and top end.
Repair crash damage from a couple weeks ago  :-[.
See how many heat cycles I can get on it by Friday.

Bike 2: My CR
Pretty much ready to go.  Threw on new white plates last weekend.  It's so nice to have a bike that requires no paint, just buy new plastic.

Bike 3: My wife's MZ
Replaced top end / lapped valves last Sunday.  Engine is in, just need to hook everything up, hope it starts.

Bike 4: My wife's R6
I actually rebuilt that engine way back in January.  Painted last week, just about ready to go.

Ah, the last minute push  ;D

-z.

Yea, yea,  ;D    I need to dig my trailer outta the snow to get to the bikes first too!   Hopefully I'll at least have the bodywork painted this weekend....

Road Race Bike :

Install Correct spring for rear shock
Change fork oil
New fork springs
Adjust emulators
Re-mount body work so it doesn't drag on tarmac
Tires
Tires
Tires
Did I say Tires?
Oh! and Tires
Finish Painting Body Work
Change Oil
Bleed Brakes
Brake Pads
Finish Putting together spare motor
Buy a Generator
And I need tires to  ;D

That and sometimes we make the mistake of inviting friends over to help. Well anyway we can't just take advantage of our friends so we pay them in beer. Well when there is beer, leave it to say you wind up looking at the bike and drinking beer more than actually working on the bike.

Well, yeah, me too.  Just on a different surface...  My medium is a bit colder and slicker than yours.

Jeff,

You are racing the ice bike? Or you mean just riding? We have been ice riding every weekend having tons of fun, but I would like to do a sanctioned race to see how I stack up overall. The one thing though is that I would much rather it be in a TT course, not an oval.

No, just riding, but when I pass someone, I instantly take the checkered flag for the win.   ;D

Ready as I was at the end of last year.

Hmm, I guess you better get a move on, unless you plan on building it on the way there...
