Title: Steve's update
Post by: ScubaSteve on February 27, 2005, 02:09:04 PM

Well the new update on Steve is that he is going to stay down here in Miami for rehab.  We looked at a couple of rehab centers up by us and decided that this center will be the best for him.  He is looking forward to getting started on a long road to recovery.  Steve wants everyone to that they can come and see him anytime during the week from 4:30p.m. till 8:30p.m. Monday through Friday.  Then from 1:00 until 8:30 Saturday and all day on Sunday.  I am not sure what room he will be in but I will let everyone know tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thanks again for all the support.
Alissa

Which vertebrae were hit in the crash?

If it's the same Miami rehab place I've heard of, staying down there was a good choice?

Alissa:

What is the prognosis?  What strides has he made?  What's the address that people can send cards and letters? or is he checking e-mail?

Dawn   :)

Well Steve is doing good.  He is going to be back at Tampa now.  (insurance crap)  Steve fractured his 5 and 6th vertrbra in the crash.  He can move his arms very little and the fingures are not moving yet.  He can feel everything from his legs to toes.  He has spinal cord bursing with heals at 1mm per day.  So after it heals we will know what kind of recovery he will have.

I will let everyone know a address and what room he will be in a little later tonight.

Don't give up without a fight.  My insurance tried to pull some crap on me to avoid putting me in National Rehab Hosp in DC.  It took a few phone calls/faxes from a lawyer to fix it.  Turn out the insurance person had "misread" my contract and "thought" I had a diffenrent kind of coverage.

Also, if you have problem with an insurance company trying to pressure you into a lesser therapy than recommended by your physicians, your state insurance board can be brought into play so that you get the full benefits you are entitiled to. Good luck on a full and speedy recovery. Everything is sounding promising so far.

Good luck and best wishes.  In 2001 I fractured my C6 and C7 while racing, so I know what its like, to some degree.
