I'm moving to Miami in about 6 months and want to start getting on the track. The only race schools I have found for that area are the Kinsey and Longevity Schools. Has anyone used these schools? Heard anything about them good or bad? Does anyone know of other schools I might try?
I know Moroso & Homestead are close...how are track days there? What are the costs, how are the tracks, etc. (Remember I'm new so..even basic knowledge helps)
Any suggestions are welcome. Also, anyone with local knowledge feel free to comment on miami riding in general.
I know Frank Kinsey. He's a knowledgeable guy. The Long's have been at this for a long time.
I think you're in good with each one. Hope that helps a bit.
The Penguin School goes to Jennings and Homestead on the first week of December. They were also at Homestead this month on the 11th. I don't know if February will be a regular date, stay tuned.
I attended the Penguin school earlier this month and raced the same weekend.
Homestead is fast (according to me) and there is a lot of point and shoot, not too much in the way of flowing sections. Haven't been to Homestead yet.
Seriously consider doing a two day school somewhere (with California Superbike School, for example) before racing. I think it's good prep.

you might be here just in time for our June race at homestead. June 25-26. could get your licence at that time and race on sunday. Remember, the Kinsey and Long schools are inexpensive to show you the very basics to get your licence. Do not compare to a weekend long intense $3,000 school like Spenser or Schwantz. Frank and John are GREAT guys and have been in the racing game longe than many of us have been alive.. and im 36..
I've been to both schools. Both were great. Frank's focus was more on riding fast on a track. Since is was my first track, it was perfect. John's was more race oriented. Which was good since I was there to get my CCS card. John certainly knows 2-strokes.
MELK - I don't think I have the funds for a $3k school. The basics should be good to get me started though. I won't make it down to FL until August or September, so I won't be able to start to get my license until then. I guess I'm pretty much out until next year.
Appreciate everyone's advice... hope to see you guys out on the track
I think California Superbike is "only" $400 a day, and you can rent a bike from them if you don't have one already, which can be helpful for people just starting out.

When you get to South Florida, post up again and join some of us at JenningsGP for a track day or two... then take a school (Jennings, Moroso, or Homestead), then just start racing...
You don't have to wait until next year to race this year.

Not many have $3k to do it.. i was just reminding you to not expect that kind of school for three hundred bucks..
