Title: Pre- Registering Question
Post by: NightHeat on February 25, 2005, 09:21:04 AM
Obviously this is my first racing season due to this simple question I am about to ask, but here goes

What do you put in the SAT/SUN blocks on the registration forms.  How do you know what race will be held on what day?

I know its a dumb question for some, but I honestly can't figure it out.

I think I just figured it out.  It only applies to Twin Sprint races, right? ::) :-[

Correct.
And actually it should have been updated to be race 1 race 2 as some cases (Road America) the normal CCS Sat race will be on Friday and the Sunday race will be Sat as Sunday has mainly FUSA races.

Okay -- the newbies are coming out in packs now:  what is a twin sprint?

I didn't know either my first year.  Twin sprint is a full schedule raced on Saturday then ran again on Sunday in the oppisite order it was ran Saturday.  =double points if you run both days.

At least you got a response from someone with Amateur experience (a multi-year yellow plated Amateur sandbagger at that!) :o  ;D  ;) LOL

Just to make it completely clear, it's not actually double points, it's more like having (2) events on the same weekend. So if you run the same class both days, and finish similarly in both races, it would be like a double points weekend when it's all said and done. :)

:o Brain surgery has to be easier then figuring all this stuff out.

OKay, why are some weekends marked as twin sprint events with 2 asterics and others marked with 1 asteric as double points weekend?  What's the difference?

With all this its leads to another question on pre-registering; Does the fee scale start all over again on Sunday, you know the $70 first event, $50 second and so on or do you get to save some cash?

Oh, are college credits being earned for figuring all this stuff out  :-/  If there not they should be (lol)

A double points weekend doubles the points for all classes, even though they only run once per weekend. Usually double points weekends are the first and last race of the season in a region to encourage turnout.

A twin sprint weekend runs the entire schedule twice. So each class runs twice during the weekend. The fee scale does not reset on Sunday. All races entered count regardless of day run.

thanks for the info guys, I had an inclination thats how it was run... good to know for sure.

Here's another one.  Are there any classes that will NOT be run on twin sprint weekends... such as the GT's?

Did I catch someplace that the RA schedule in april will be twin sprint fri and sat with FUSA on sunday?  When exactly, or where exactly will an actuall schedule be posted... may determine what classes I race at that event.  Is there anywhere that lists the classes available on what days per venue?  MAM twin sprint weekend would be another concern for scheduling.  I understand that its the same schedule fri and sat and by calling it a "sprint weekend" it makes sense that there would be no GT's.... just want to make sure so I know how to budget and how to register.  Plan on getting the season registered in the next week or so.

thanks a bunch

tim

oh yeah... I know the difference between say a MWSS race and a GT... what about the MWGP?  what type of race is that?   Thanks again guys/girls

Road A schedule is here. http://www.formulausa.com/shows/pdf/Spring%20Mailer

GTs run once per weekend on a twin sprint.

MWGP and MWSS/MWSB are similar but have a different base they start from. SS/SB must start from a street legal machine, GP classes can be home built or factory purpose racing machines IE Honda RS, Yamaha TZ, Aprilia RSV/W

There is also a difference between 2 day and 3 day Twin Sprint (T/S) events. Two day T/S events are generally regional races only with the GT classes run once each sometime during the weekend. Often times all the GT races will be split up between the 2 days and run 1st thing each day. Three day T/S events are normally combined events with the Formula USA (FUSA) series. These events will generally have a half day of practice in the morning on Friday then racing after lunch. Generally the GT races and a few sprints will be run then followed by the 2 hour long Team Challenge endurance race (which is generally only run at FUSA events). The FUSA classes will be run on Sunday afternoons at these events with qualifying for them on Saturdays. You have to pay careful attention to these events since it may be possible that you will have CCS sprint races on all 3 days, depending on what classes you choose. :)

Hey, what did you expect?  Look who I was hanging out with all year :o  I learned all kinds of "excuses".  Did you get your bump BACK to amateur?  Taking some classes with me again this year?  Sucka!!!! ;D
