Title: Bike ownership/registration question
Post by: Lowe119 on February 21, 2005, 08:38:44 AM
Two questions:

1. When you buy a brand new bike for racing, do you register it and get plates - even though it isn't being used on the street?

2. If your business is buying the bike, is it just as easy to register it under your business? (let's just say it is a race-oriented business :))

BRand new, nope you dont need to ever get tags for it. Unless you plan on putting it on the street you dont ever need to get it registered. YOu can get it (and is very much recommended) titled in your name, but you dont need registration for a vehicle used in competition.

As for the business, I think if it was bought with business money, then it has to be titled in the business name. But if you are teh business owner, I dont think that really matters much.

So you can get it titled without registering it?

Yes, you can get it titled without registering it.  But you still pay taxes.

Yes, I buy bikes in my business name...
