I've been noticing the trend of shorter tail pieces. The tails you get on the '00 bikes from Sharkskinz have a lot more room to put your number on than the new 04-05 bikes.
Since this is making it harder to put your 6" numbers on ---- Has anyone had (or heard of having) problems in tech because of it?
Also the front number plates are getting smaller - like the ZX6Rs. No possible way to put 8" numbers on it. Any problems with these?
Is this just going to be accepted and are we going to be allowed to put smaller and smaller numbers on?
Reason I ask is because I'm going to make my own on my next bike.
I am right there with ya :P I am running a ZX-10R and putting 8" numbers up front is a &%$^$.
All I can say is, I begged for a 2 digit number and did the best I could ;)
I wish we could do 6" up front, but I know this would only make it harder for the scorers.
Try 5" up front and 6" on the rear. it's actually easier to read then having the larger numbers jammed together. As for the front spend the money on the heavy duty numbers, you can switch sides on the front with ease. Let me know if you need pics?
tech never picked on mine as long as they look good and clean. I mean buy the 5 inch numbers instead of trying to make them outta elect. tape

Buy numbers? You mean y'all don't have a friend who works in a sign shop? ;D 8)
It's changed over the years. Used to be required to run eight inch numbers on the front and sides. Now, it's a little fuzzy.
It's just about fashion... 8)

or tape over half the windscreen to fit 8 inch numbers...

actually I do, but I really like the MX numbers, they are thick and reusable. I have to change the # to fit the series anyway lol
So to confirm with the tech guys, 6" numbers up front would be ok ???
Having a three digit number, we have run 6" for the past three years with no problems. Just make sure that they are spaced correctly and are easy to read.
Dawn :)
Wish I would've known that. I've been using 7" and made sure my white space was huge. :-[
Good to know. In 2003 I had a guy in tech complain about my 6" numbers on the front plate, so I ran 8" last year. I'm going w/ 6" now.

Probably Larry. ::) ;) He'd pick on you if a bug made your 1 carry a serif. :-/
So any complaints if your tail has a removable top and the "crack" runs through your numbers?
Edit - let's call it a "seam." That works better. ;)
Paging Eric, or other CCS guru!! If I show up a Daytona with 6" numbers up front, ya'll ok with it!
On my 03' R6 with the windscreen half of white vinyl used 8" fronts and 5" on the sides Larry has only complained about the font I used, I never changed it, he just gave up :D
