Title: Daytona Garages-Open Airs are GONE!
Post by: TiffineyIngram on January 25, 2005, 08:30:09 AM
Howdy all!  As most of you have probably seen, Daytona is now renting out their new garages.  From what I've heard, they are beautiful places to pit.  Here is what I know for sure:

Howdy all!  I just got the garage plans back from Daytona and I am now SOLD OUT of open air garages.  All I have left are enclosed garages, which can be rented for $300.

As far as size goes, each garage holds 2-3 riders and 6-8 bikes.  So if you're going down with a buddy or two you could split the cost 2 or 3 ways and it isn't so bad.

Also, Daytona is now allowing camping!  No kidding!  Rather than list all of the different prices on here, visit http://www.formulausa.com/showDetail?id=Show.2005-01-18.4144 and you can read all you want for yourself.

Happy Daytona-ing, and I'll see you there!

Thanks Tiff.
Do you know if the rest of the pits has Power or do we need to bring our generators??

Super Dave Rosno says bring generator "just in case"

That's ridiculous, it's fine to charge for the enclosed garages, but charging for the "open-air" is asking a bit too much.  Now is Daytona doing us a favor by allowing us to race there?  They need to realize that we are paying them, and that the race can be moved elsewhere. I think the "prestige" of Daytona is losing it's luster and lets move the ROC to another location.

The open air garages are just like the enclosed garages, except without a door.  That's the only difference.  There is still tons of space to pit in the newly-redone paddock, which they are not charging for.

Will the newly redone paddocks have power?

they need to pay for the renovations some how lol

we couldn't use the power that was available last year anyway, hook 4 sets of warmers to the outlets and the fuse keep poping.

bring generator

What Daytona makes from the CCS week is pennies compared to what Nascar brings in revenue wise.

I would much rather spend some money for much nicer, brand new facilities compared to the previous ones.

I for one, think the garages are very reasonable.  If you break it down by cost per day its reasonable.  What's it worth to you to not have to load all of your stuff up everynight.

I'm still waiting to get the cost of what its going to cost me for the AMA week......I don't think it's going to be CCS pricing...... ;D

kevin, if you don't rent a garage where do they usually put you? I don't think I can afford a garage for the next weekend.

at least the RV lot is open

I think CCS might have paid for the open air garages for us in the rental.  But, like someone said, we are paying for the renovations.  And, after all, we are using them.

I know of very few places where you can actually grid 80 bikes on a track.  That creates problems for moving to another track.

It's just like every event. Put your stuff together , not pack up.The only difference is you have to be out of the paddock 1 hour after the last race of the day.

Well that shouldn't be tto bad if they have security and the likes (which I am sure they do, world class n stuff like that) OK so if you dont rent a garage bring a Jenny because the power sucks, and you don't have to take everyhthing home everynight. Good re-cap?

benefit of the garage:

-closer to the track entrance(before the reno. the open garages are facing the entrance to hotpit entrance. also closer to bathroom, closer to tech

-power. the old breakers tend to flip a lot, because 2 stalls share the same breaker and sometimes we see more than 8 sets of warmers gets plugged in :) but it is very cool to be able to run power tools and radio (if you want to) and charge your phone.

-shelter from the weather, much more effective than a ezup or 2.

-you can bring less, no need for a table or canopies...

-you can back your trailer infront of the garage so valuables can be put in it and locked.

security is world class, but there are always more thieves too. I managed to get a pitbull stand stolen down there before, and others next to me has lost helmet and tools.

you have 1 hour from the last checker to leave the garage, then they lock the entire track down.

With garages you simply close the door at the end of the day.

Your own setup parked outside of the garages you have to drop you canopy, tie everything down, put bikes away....whatever.

It gets a little windy around there, plus if it rains.....

Ok so 2 questions remain:

1)  How do we rent one?  Does it have to be done ahead of time?  Or is it first come, first serve?

2)  Does the fee include the ENTIRE garage?  Or is it half of a garage?

I called Tiffany and paid her with the credit card.  And she said it is for the whole garage NOT half like in the past.

Well, yeah...

Huge event that they make decent money at.  And the France family owns NASCAR...would you expect them not to have a lot of work to do.

Also, the rumor I've heard is that for the AMA weekend garages are running $995, and to set up in the paddock is $400.
