Title: Is my EDGE cert enough ?
Post by: R1abuser on January 17, 2005, 04:39:53 AM
Hey guys quick question-
August 2003 I took the track school with edge... completed it, got the little cert hangin on the garage wall...

My question is if this is enough to send to CCS to get my race liscense ?  I guess I could go and take the class again here in the next month or two when classes start forming again, but I would like to get a jump on the process.

Thanks !
Dan

Hey its me Sean, I know you have been on the track and all but the cert is good for one year.  Then we required you to come back and go through the school again
after a year if you were going to go racing after the experation.

I dont mind going to take another course just so maybe I can learn a bit more... but I guess I dont see where time comes into it.  I took the school one time, why in the world would I need to come back a year later and do it again  ???

So are you racing this year sean ?  Maybe we will get to grid next to each other !  How cool would that be... then you can show me that "race pace" you were always talking about !  See ya bro !

Also track addix is running a new rider school this year as well. The first date is April at MAM. There are a ton of perks included with this school and more personal attention than most as well. Way too much to list. Suffice it to say that you haven't seen anything  like this before. Check out their program at //www.trackaddix.com

They will have full tire and suspension support. Dyno support. Top notch instructors. And a ton of personal help. Also, we'll have the new riders pit with us their first race weekend to help them along with whatever they may need.

Actually you can look under the "schools" tab on the Track Addix website. For 2005 we will be offering a new riders school, a new racers school, and a suspension tuning school. New racers will be certified for CRA, CCS, and MRA licenses. New racers that are certified through our school will be able to pit with us at their first race at our 40' race trailer and take advantage of all the services we have to offer including mechanic help, free tire service, suspension tuning help, and otherwise any other issue dealing with getting started racing that you may have. Also, at the track day you will be able to get a free horsepower run on the dyno and get basic setup info to help you get your bike tuned in. Riders will also get discount coupons good for use at //www.bikejam.com Dean is currently updating the race school page on his site today and it will have all of the detailed info by the end of the day. Rob-
Will you (or dean) have a dynojet 250 dyno on hand at the track ?  I need to do a custom map session anyway.  Will you have operators on had familiar with the tunelink software and the general knowledge of how to map the bike ?  You know I need to eeek every bit of HP out of that slow R1.

Yes, we will have a mobile Dynojet 250 dyno on hand and will be able to do custom maps while you are there.

Hey Chuck yeah its been a while. We have been busy as of late we have a 5 month old baby boy so he is keeping us on out toes. Hopefully with a alot more free time this summer I can make a few more road trips and come down to Topeka for some racing.
Dan I know it sounds like a bummer but no one knows after a year how well you are riding and it is more of a safety factor than anything. There are many jobs that reuqire re-certification and this is one that should be done just so you know where you stand.
Also Dan unless you will be having a white plate I am not sure we will be on the same grid.

Sean, did you see my avatar ?  I have white white plates NOW !  To bad I need to repaint the bike yellow.  Thats ok, I hear that adds atleast 3 HP.   :D
As for the class, I promise I dont ride any worse than I did that day !  Hows that ?

Rob-
Great !  Will you have a fan/ductwork with atleast 2500 CFM @ 4"s.p. setup to simulate the effects of my ram-air system ?  (just kidding !)
Seriously, the dyno is a good thing.  I need a custom map for this new bike... I can feel a very slight dip in the midrange as it is now and I was thinking of springing for remapping.

Dan-  you should just get a couple 54 gallon drums of VP to pump into that R1.....I'm going up to Lithium after they get back from Parumph (sp) and could bring them back for ya!

Rob- The Dyno is off that Chart!!!  I'd be surprised if I wasn't surprised at the options you guys keep offering us.  (Still voting for the LM coozies though)

Hey Dave, whats goin on !!!  You selling VP now ?

My cousin is the distributor for Nutec so I dont know...  :D

Hopefully the dyno tuning is a perk of the class... not something Dean has us pay extra for !

Dan, you will get a free horsepower run with the class but come on now....free dyno TUNING. The tuning you will have to pay for. The advice and direction are free, getting it done for you...another story. There will be discounted rates for students and attendants of the track days though. Dean got some more stuff posted on the website yesterday. Here is the link.

I don't sell it, but Robb can get you as much as you want....  I could bring it home for you so you don't have to go pick it up.

Robb- That extra support for you first weekend is a great idea, I remember how much help I got from you guys last year and it was priceless.  I had so many questions that first weekend, I can see that REALLY helping.

Dan- I can sell you some VP though, just add 10-15% what it normally costs.... ;D

Dyno TUNING is what I need... it takes them about 30 min to run through the tunelink software, thats why I was asking.  Not a big issue.  I have a tuner...

Thanks to Chuck and guys like Rob at Lithium I hope to have a smooth transisition from trackdays to racing.

See all you guys soon enough !

Dan

We do have the software installed on the dyno and the dyno hauler is a purpose built trailer set up for doing dyno tuning at the track with all the comforts and amenities of the shop.

You guys at Lithium are going ALL OUT this year...

I can't wait to see the new stuff Rob, hows the pocketbook feel?   :o  Your going to officially be the largest most comprehensive trackside supply/service vendor in the pit.
