QuoteI'm coming to the race track this year, that's for sure :D :-*
I think that'd be brilliant Dan. Really! :) Whether you're there as a spectator, cornerworker, crew member (but given what you posted in the nut drilling thread :o, not with me thank-you) or racer.
However, given what you've been posting over in the "Help" thread, which track(s) are you planning to be? Seems like you'll be in the sunshine state by April/March time frame. Guess the Midwest CCS crew won't get to see you, get your autograph or collect on Alexa's reward.
Or might you be at ACC or Gingerman afterall?
I'll be at Jennings, Gingerman, Grattan, Autobahn, Blackhawk, Road Atlanta, Daytona, and probably Road America. Even moving to Orlando, I still work out of Chicago and will be in the Midwest atleast 3 times a month, mostly over weekends. :D
Oh. I thought you worked out of your home.
Are those all venues you'll be racing or are some track days? Have you selected the STT or other TDs you'll run?
So... you gonna leave a track bike up here for those weekends up here? Or are you gonna trailer all over the place?
What bike will you be campaigning again? Just wondering whether you'd be on the track with me - or w/ Sunny. I think it's be funny as hell to have you both in the same event.
Awaiting Dan's answer with keen interest....
QuoteAwaiting Dan's answer with keen interest....

I'll be working out of the house while we set up offices down there. I still have board meetings in Chicago every Friday. I'll be leaving the bike here, so a friend who always rides with me can bring it to the track with him. I'm going to do a couple STT days here and there. I'll be riding a 999R or a Mille R. I'll be in IL enough to justify leaving a car there.

Uhm.. Mark, we've met before. When I saw your picture on the Buell site, I remembered who you were.
It'll never happen.

QuoteWe've met before? Where?
Not sure which track, but I know for a fact we met. I remember talking to you while waiting to go thru tech. I'm positive we've met before, but back then I was at the track so much I can't remember which time or which track.
QuoteIt'll never happen.
Wanna put some money on it for charity?
Dan's taking bets. All bets payable to Super Dave's...
any takers ::)

Hmmm... I don't think so Dan. I don't believe Bernie would travle all the way to Grattan or Gingerman just for a TD. Have you done a TD at Putnam or RA Dan?

Surely you must mean something other than literally a board of directors meeting. Most companies have those monthly or quarterly with subcommittees meeting more frequently.
But even if it is a weekly executive team meeting, here's a suggestion for you Dan that'll make you a cost saving hero. Alternating weeks or months you (and others who whould have to travel a long way and be put up in a hotel) would just attend the meeting via conference call hook-up. They work great. You can even have real-time sharing of information over a computer hook-up if need be.
Your company will save the wasted flight and airport wait time for each person as well as the costs of airfare, hotel, parking, cabs, rental cars, blah, blah, blah.
Go ahead I'll let you claim this idea as your own. If you'll be traveling from Orlando, you guys will save at least $1,500 per annum.
You owe me another beer.
Which "it" are you taking bets on occurring Dan?
You moving to a new home in Orlando?
You participating as a racer at a CCS race in 2005?
You participating as a racer at a WERA race in 2005?
You attending a CCS race (cornerworker or spectator)?
You racing on a 999R or Mille R in 2005?
Hey whatever happened to hat fancy trailer you wrote about over on the WERA board a ways back (2003?)?
QuoteHave you done a TD at Putnam or RA Dan?
nope

Engineering meetings every week, corporate board meetings once a month, and shareholder meetings every quarter.
I do conference calls daily. Still have to go there though. No choice in that. Too much to do over the phone. What takes up a 3 hour conference call can usually be handeled in 45 minutes in person. Learned that already. Plus, all expenses are a writeoff, so nobody really cares.

All of the above. I sold the trailer since I wasn't using it.

Your knowledge of businss accounting and what makes a business profitable is frightening.
It is never better to incur an expense that isn't an investment (durable good or capital project) just because you can "write it off". After all, you're not getting back dollar for dollar on your taxes. It'd be a tax deduction not a tax credit. For that same reason, it'd be better for you to get reimbursed by your company than for you to rely puon deducting it from your taxes.
QuoteAll of the above.
:o Mark the tape! We may need to come back to this later on.

QuoteHmmm... I don't think so Dan. I don't believe Bernie would travle all the way to Grattan or Gingerman just for a TD. Have you done a TD at Putnam or RA Dan?
So H-man... Your telling me that Dan isnt a racer? Only does track days? If that is the case then we have never met.
The only one I will talk to in the tech line is the tech inspector. Unless its someone I race with or know well.
I have only done three track days in my life. Once at R/A when I was an instructor for Monte with Sportbike Track Time. I taught the novice class.
And twice at BHF. Leon's track day once and one other.
So me traveling to Grattan or Gingerman for a track day is like waiting for the Pope to poop diamonds!
Its not gonna happen!
I am indeed a racer. I have raced in both WERA and FastTrax sanctioned events. I haven't done a CCS race yet. I hold a valid CCS and WERA race license. Why am I not a racer again? Cause I don't show up every weekend? Sorry, I do have work that I have to take care of first.
QuoteI I haven't done a CCS race yet.
I only do CCS.... period! So as I said. We never met.
Infact, I may have actually seen you at a CCS round at Gingerman. I did go to one CCS round at Gingerman, but I didn't and couldn't race. There was a Sportbike Tracktime track day the day after the CCS races. We were at Grattan on Saturday and Sunday, and then came to Gingerman for the trackday on Monday. We were at Gingerman for part of the day on Sunday and there were CCS races. I would've raced, but I didn't have a race license and hadn't done a school yet.
Infact, I do remember that weekend quite well. At the trackday, some guy on a BMW crashed, and the bike was spinning on the head in the middle of the race track in turn 2 ;D I had to off road going into turn 1 because it was in my line and we went in 3 deep ;D
I can't believe anybody is still buying The Dan's bs! ;D
H-Man, have you seen the Seinfeld episode when Kramer promotes Dan's approach to tax write-offs? ;D
What are you talking about now ???
QuoteWhat takes up a 3 hour conference call can usually be handeled in 45 minutes in person. Learned that already. Plus, all expenses are a writeoff, so nobody really cares.
BWA HA HA HA!!!!!! You're gonna save 2 hours and fifteen minutes by driving to the airport, hopping on a plane from Orlando up to Detroit, driving to and from a meeting, flying home, then driving home!
You guys listed in the NYSE? I gotta run out and buy me some shares real quick, sounds like a real savvy bunch of businessmen..........
NOT!!!!!
Where've you been ??? I missed you :-*
To answer your question, no. That's why I spend the entire weekend there. Anything that requires my involvement gets handled when I get there. Everything else can usually done by phone. Alot of the time, it's easier to discuss and explain things in person.
I'm back. The Jets are really trying hard not to win their game.
Boy, where shall I begin?
Hey H, it's boys night out again ;D
QuoteIf you knew what I pay in taxes, you'd be sick. I"ll let my account handle all of it. All I do is sign on the line ;)
Yeah. Right.
I'm with Papa on this one Dan-o.
BTW, if it's a business trip and you're in this big time company, then why's the cost of the trip on your dime. Hey man, get them to foot it. It's way better for you. Then whatever expenses you submit to them for reimb. is back to you 100% rather than getting partial payment by deducting it at your tasx rate.
After you convince them to foot the bill, then you can lay my earlier idea on them and look golden. You'll still be up in Chicago. Just not weekly.
QuoteHey H, it's boys night out again ;D

Who said ya can't touch ??? ;) ;D :P Just kidding. Actually, it's a cool place to go for drinks. That's all we really go for. I'm done with night clubs. Dan doesn't stand outside in line to get into bars.
I haven't been to Eurocycle's. Been busy with work and traveling. This is the worse time of year for me with work. CES, Autoshow, ect. I leave for LA on Monday afternoon.

Monte doen't have LEDs at Gingerman. And the Wegman event wasn't immediately after a CCS w/e.

Monte doesn't have LED's at Gingerman? Wanna double check that statement. Wasn't this past year, it was the year before that (03') MONDAY, Sept. 29th to be exact I believe. Gotta check. I remember it being a CCS weekend I think. I don't know, I went to the track every weekend damn near in 2003. That's all I did. Every weekend almost was a track weekend. :D

QuoteToo pricey for me just to go just for drinks.
Actually, it's cheaper to go there and drink. We were surprised about it the first time we went there. It's cheaper there than at most regular bars. Go figure :-/ Plus, it's got a nice vew ;)

Okay. In 2003 Monte did have 3 Monday Gingerman dates. 8/11, 9/29 (Super Dave was over at Grattan giving instruction to a group that co-sponsored the day w/ STT) and STT's Wegman benefit on 10/13.
Maybe someone can look whether there was a CCS race at Gingerman on 8/10 or 9/28. Bu then, why the heck were you there so early on Sunday to be chatting with Bernie when he got his bike teched? But based on what he posted earlier... confaaabuuulaaation.

We got there early because the guy I ride with crashed at Grattan, and we went to Gingerman to meet someone to get the bike fixed prior to the LED day. On the first or second session on Sunday, he highsided in turn 3 or 4 at Grattan, so by the time we got the bike off the crash truck, packed up, ect. most of the day was gone. So, we talked to Monte, and decided to do the LED day at Gingerman on Monday. We drove to Gingerman, and started fixing the bike for the LED day. Jeff I believe or Kieth met us with parts that night. I don't remember all the details, but that's pretty close.
Okay. But which story do you want us to accept?
Previously you wrote that you met Bernie in the tech shed while on line for getting the bike teched. Well unless ole Bern crashed and needed to re-tech his bike, you'd have had to be at Gingerman around 7-8 a.m. on Sunday to have met him as you stated.
Maybe what you meant to write is that you wandered over to the Tire Rack Inn on Sunday afternoon and while you were poking around and reading the days race results, you happened to have met Mark. Yeah, yeah. That's it. That's the ticket!
::)
Sorry, I don't remember all the details from one of the twenty track days I did in 2003 ::)
It's kinda like when you see someone and you're like: "hey, I know that guy." but, ya can't remember from where. ???

QuoteWhat are you talking about now ???
There is this one episode of Seinfeld where Kramer learns what a tax write-off is. He starts going around advising everyone to just spend money on ridiculous things and "just write it off." Essentially, the same approach to accounting you have.
You don't get one dollar back through your taxes for every dollar you spend. The only way this would happen would be in a 100% tax bracket, I believe. Let me try to take a really stripped-down example: if you decide to incur a one dollar expenditure because you can write it off and your tax bracket is 40%, you are still spending $.60, not a zero as you believe. If your other choice was not to make that expenditure, and it did not negatively affect your business, you just made a stupid business decision. I think. You might want to get your CPA to explain to you the basics, Mr. Corporate.
Anyway, you didn't need that to look suspicious. Just look at one of your recent adventures, from the thread in which we were talking about cars. You said you returned a leased Lexus after only nine months of a 24 month contract, and lost $7,000. Unfortunately, you also said monthly payments were $800. Do the math, it doesn't work. I didn't say anything then because at this point, I don't think anyone believes anything you say and you are quite entertaining. ;D

Thanks Old808. When Dan asked for a further explanation, I figured (1) I don't want to spend the time to type it all; (2) if he really doesn't understand it, his company's in trouble and (3) I figured he understood it but was just crying out for more attention on the board.
For you Dan, it doesn't matter that you're not the, or a, finance guy. You're supposedly part of the senior brain trust. Making decisions that will affect the whole company. You NEED to grasp these simple things. Also, if your travel to these meetings is required for business and they allow you to live anywhere in the US, then why on earth are the expenses on your dime anyway? ???

Alright, since it's winter and I'm bored, I'll explain how it works.
First, I get a base salary. Then, I get commision and bonus paid quarterly. So, I get taxed 3 seperate times.. I get a W2 for salary, and 1099 for the rest. Then, I have investment accounts, ect. Then, I get hit with a W2G by the casino's, and uhm.. well, I don't have any good right off's. There, that's it. Don't ask me why, cause my accountant handles it. Don't ask me questions on why this and that, cause I don't know. My account tells me to cut a check to the IRS for this, and I do it.

1. If you receive W-2 income from a company, then you should not receive 1099 income. 1099 income is "Non-employee income", while W-2 income is "Employee income". Your company is under-reporting Social Security and Medicare taxes - a violation of federal law.
2. W2G income is offset by casino losses... you only pay tax on the difference.
3. Investment accounts are only taxed if they are mutual funds (which have fund distributions) or YOU have executed trades which have resulted in a capital gain - for which you are taxed at the appropriate rate - long or short term.
4. Employee expenses should be reimbursed by the employer.
5. A "write off" is only good if you have taxes to "write off" against, and only helps minimize the tax bite, but doesn't help your adjusted gross income (line 34).
I'm off to bed now.
;)

DAMN boy, you really are thick!
NONE of the past posts have a think to do with your income!! It doesn't matter how you get your money. It doesn't matter where you get your money. Noone gives a damn how much money you make!
It started out as friendly advice to save you time and your company money. Then the issue of whether the expense s/b bourne by the company and why that's better than you deducting it.
That's it for me on this topic. You're too annoying for me.

What about the fact that I hold a valid CCS and WERA license.
Just because I didn't have time to come race round after round this year because of work doesn't make me any less of a racer than you.
:-*
QuoteDAMN boy, you really are thick!
H, in all seriousness, do you honestly think that I would be where I'm at if I was half the idiot I act like? My employment is more than verifable. Seriously?
Like I said before, you started this fire. I just threw some VP on it for entertainment ;)
QuoteHooooooooo!!!!!! Ouch!!!!
Well, that's as good as a gaurantee that Dan won't be showing up at Gingerman on July 31st! ;D
Don't count your cookies until they're baked ;)
Awww, common.... everyone went to bed ??? We have 300 more topics to cover about Dan and what Dan's done and what I'm going to do, and all that crap. Where'd everyone go ??? I still have some VP left to add to the flames ;D
:-*
QuoteIn all reality, I've probably raced more than H-Man. :-*
Well, let's see. You may be right.
In 2003 you participated in a few races with Fasttrax at Grattan (at that time they were not sanctioned or otherwise a part of CCS). You did the race schol and "races" associated with that and you entered a couple of their events on the following day.
In 2004 you and a pal entered a 6 hour WERA endurance race at Grattan. You guys ran into some bike trouble; only took 15 gallons of fuel ::) and otherwise didn't finish. But you did participate. How much was you and how much was (his name elludes me right now) doesn't really matter. You were in it.
What other races did you participate Dan?
But really, it's pretty sad if I'm the measure you're using for race participation. I've only been riding a bike for 4.5 yrs and this past year was my first foray into racing. Started mid season and did the 2 Gingerman w/e-s. Plan on just doing a partial season next year too. As I'll try get some track/practice time in the first half of the year before venturing out to race in WERA & CCS at the nearby venues.
I'll be happy to haul your bike to one of the events. But seriously, you would need to find somewhere other than by me to s/u.
QuoteJust because I didn't have time to come race round after round this year because of work doesn't make me any less of a racer than you.
This is true. It's just that there's so much doubt about the level of skill, knowledge and experience that you often profess or lead on about possessing
QuoteWhat about the fact that I hold a valid CCS and WERA license.
This doesn't mean much. A guy can have a coin form one of the teams, but that doesn't make him a SEAL. You pay your money (after attending an approved school) and you have a license. Out of curiosity, is it a PN license or full license you have w/ WERA? What's you're number with them?
QuoteH, in all seriousness, do you honestly think that I would be where I'm at if I was half the idiot I act like? My employment is more than verifable. Seriously?
LOL!! I've NO idea "where you're at" professionally, personally or socially. I've no interest in finding out either.
Though I will share this with you. It is my belief that while people can and do have different sides to themselves, it is rediculous to say "I only act this way when on the internet." "If you were to meet me, or if you were to meet me, you'd see I'm a good guy."
Well Dan, I don't believe the method of communication can be used as an excuse for one's behavior. Would you associate with someone who acted out with you on the phone, but then said "I'm just that way on the telephone." "I'm a great guy in person"?
QuoteLike I said before, you started this fire. I just threw some VP on it for entertainment ;)
If you're saying you were just feigning ignorance earlier, good job. You did have me. But you still have a rather annoying and puzzling way about you.
For example, On one hand you're the savy businessman and involved in both shrewd home purchases and real estate investments locally. On the other hand, you can't even figure out where the money comes from to pay a buyers rep. or package an offer. On top of that, you apparently haven't any partner or other resource to consult. Hmmmm.
QuoteBernie,
I'm sorry dude! I promise, I never, ever told him about you and your bellypan adventure at Topeka last year! I have no idea where he got the 'junk' comment from :-[ ;D
Dont sweat it dude! That track beat up the best built bikes. Not just mine. I heard a comment while I was there.... "even the Jap bikes are loosing parts!"
But you have to admit, I sure know how to make an impression when i go to a track thats new to me! lol!
If Dan wants to dig his grave with all us Buell riders, then so be it. We race, thats what we do. Good bikes and fantastic riders that are frendly and helpful to any rider, fan, or spectator.
Dan likes to rattle cages. He makes his little idiotic comments and jabs but hey its a free country. Let him say what he wants.
I personally know most of the people who post here... Spyderchic, H-man, PJ, K3, KBOleson, Dawn and Paul, Racerwannabe, Rob, the Stumpys, and many many more. All of whom I hold the greatest respect for.
Each and every one I am proud and honored to call my freinds. And I think they all feel the same about me and my team.
We dont put people down on purpose, we dont speak out our azzes. But......
Dan is a putz! He pisses off people, thats what he does best. And to tell the truth, he's good at it. But thats all i see that he is good at.
He made hils little "loud, noisy, junk" comment. I replied with a honest challenge. Will he show up at Gingerman? I doubt it. But you can be assured I will be there. Spare belly pan and all! ;)
QuoteBut really, it's pretty sad if I'm the measure you're using for race participation.
YOU started this thread by insinuating that I'm not going to show to the track. I said I'd be there. I can't guarantee I'll be there every weekend, but I will be there for a majority of the events. You guys start these threads and knock me for not being there every weekend when you actually probably didn't think that I was at the track more than you were until I mentioned it. It doesn't really matter to me, but you guys keep bringing this crap up.
QuoteOut of curiosity, is it a PN license or full license you have w/ WERA? What's you're number with them?
I have a full WERA License. The endurance race I was in was a National Event, and PN's can't run in a national under a PN license. My CCS and WERA number are the same: 35

You may wish to re-read the first few posts of this thread to remind yourself of the tone. But if you remain convinced this was an attack on ya, allow me to use the following words to reply:
QuoteYeah, but geez, you don't gotta get so damn defensive. I was playing around, and he's all serious.
QuoteMy actions reflect on the company, even in my personal life.
Remember that? You would do yourself a favor by applying that to yourself. Your actions here reflect on you, whether you believe it or not. The Internet is not some fantasy place where reality all of a sudden becomes irrelevant.
Now, get those auto show pictures posted.

Yeah, but I don't care what my actions look like on here. It's kinda like all the assclownery that I'm involved in at the race track. All in good fun. :)

Dan -
Weren't you banned from the BBS as well as WERA races after you questioned whether or not you could bring a handgun on site at WERA races? I also checked the results for the past couple of years, and yes my eyes are getting poor, but I didn't see any race results for #35 Dan Dagarou in the NC region?
Dan definitely didn't run any WERA NC races last year, but he did participated the endurance at Grattan.
I am not sure how he's able to obtain a non-PN license from WERA as I don't think he ever participated enough races with WERA to earn that status.
We all know that Dan is full of BS on the BBS....
... no new news here.
Are we done now?
Dawn ;)
Sorry. I am done! Thought I chip in a little to stop the discussion.................. ;)

If that's the case, how come you are never faster than me and my 400 while you are on Ducati 748S/749S, Aprilia Mille R, and whatever you have rode? ::) Go on with your BS self, just leave me out of it.

Uhm... I try to, but you flare up again to come put your half a cent in like anyone gives a damn. Haven't we gone over this before, like 40 times. Nevermind. Discussion over, atleast with you it is.
Yeah Sunny I got the same thing ..
QuoteGo ask your buddies on the WERA board again ::) LOL Oh... the drama ;D
I did... They reaffirmed my question. Paige confirmed that she remembered mailing your license out. And I didn't recall seeing you at any races.
I subsided all of my comments through all of your stories of squandering money on vehicles, motorcycle after motorcycle, homes, etc... And you are correct, why would it matter that anyone believe you and why would it matter? After all, know one here knows you. No one knows the real "Dan".
My tolerance ended when you promised Rikki and Huey a sat phone. Promising a deal to a soldier so she can keep in contact with her husband and not delivering is beyond "the line".
QuoteYeah Sunny I got the same thing ..
Sorry......... My computer is showing no virus, so I have no idea of how to fix it. I am still getting plenty of these SMS emails from various different people as well............
QuoteMy tolerance ended when you promised Rikki and Huey a sat phone. Promising a deal to a soldier so she can keep in contact with her husband and not delivering is beyond "the line".
That wasn't me, sorry. Try again. Not that I really care about your tolerance.
We're about at the halfway mark, ten more pages to go!
QuoteI did... They reaffirmed my question. Paige confirmed that she remembered mailing your license out. And I didn't recall seeing you at any races.
Yeah, I have a license. So... what's you're point. My number is 35. I said that. You attempted to try and prove I was lying about it, but it blew up in your face. Want me to scan a copy of it for you so you can hang it on your wall? You came over here to just mess with me, and went over there to get information and start a "Dan Thread." Uhm... get a life maybe.... ::) Everyone hates Dan sooooo much.. yet you follow me around like a lost puppy. Did you not come over here and attempt to start trouble with me? Here, let me quote you from the WERA site:
"
Round 1 Papa calls him out on his knowledge of BMW 6 series..
Round 2 H man calls him out for being financially idiotic...
Round 3 Hyperdyne blasts race credibility asDan claims he carries a current and active WERA license under the number 35.
Oh, see the following for details:
Round 1: http://www.racemotorcycles.com/cgi-...;num=1105590468
Rounds 2-3: http://www.racemotorcycles.com/cgi-...;num=1105755470
Anyway, for those of you lulling around and getting tired of the resident post whore rants, it's a change of pace. It's not cattle prodding your neighbor or puuting a yellow F3 in the latrine or calling out Wilson for an ass-whippin, but it's nonetheless semi-entertaining. "
So, bad puppy. You go lay down now.
Funny thing is, I found out about it in an email someone sent me that spends time on that board. That's usually how I find out about it. Like I said...
Get a life.

Ya' know....
... you guys just don't know when to shut up. >:(
Once again, we all know where everyone stands on this board. Why do we have to go over and over it again. This thread is doing absolutely NOTHING for the board other than getting people pissed off.
It's been locked.
