Title: New rule for LW SUPERBIKE
Post by: Thumper881 on January 12, 2005, 10:00:14 AM
:o I've just read in the flyer sent that there are new rules governing the Lt.Wt. superbikes. The rule stated that aircooled twins are up to 1210 cc . Does this mean all air-cooled twins??

Air cooled twins up to 1210 cc is pretty self-explantory to me............   ;)  This means as long it's a twin and air cooled, and under 1211cc, you'll be okay!

However, I am getting a little confused here myself...............  How is a ~1200 cc motorcycle Lt. Wt. at all???????????????   ???

LW/MW/HW are based on HP/weight ratios, not size of engine

Because last year the rule stated only pushrod twins were allowed that many cc.

Hey Sunny, I'll sell you my 2000 Buell M2.  You'll be pretty damn competitive after a some weight reduction action.

Hey Paul, I was the guy on the MuZ behind you at Barber. You have a XB9. It was 1210 pushrod last year. 1000 air-cooled everything else.I have a 992 Ducati SS thats looking like it become competitive in LtWt SB.Just need's a couple more ponies, & a rider named Ed. ;)

Hey Thumper. That was a fun race. My first time there. How about that 125 traffic? Yes, I have an XB9 and an XB12. The 9 is no longer legal for UL Superbike, so now there's no reason not to turn it into a 12.

I have a buddy who just bought a DS 1000 to run in Thunderbike, so now that bike would be legal in LW SB as well? And GP? He'll be stoked.
