Title: CCS/FUSA Daytona Config?
Post by: Shady on January 06, 2005, 11:59:42 AM
Does anyone know if CCS will be running the new AMA configuration for Daytona or if it will be a different config?

Should be the same for CCS, AHRMA, and AMA

Just so this info would be seen by other people. Kevin had posted this in another thread unrelated to Daytona so I thought I would copy it here where it was relevant.

QuoteBy the way, Daytona in it's new configuration, 1:42 for Superbikes and 1:44 for Supersports seems to be the "norm" for day one from what I've seen. Gearing is really different now with the tighter infield, so stock up different ratios for March.

As side note the infield is so tight first gear was used by some of the superbikes. Daytona is no longer the horespower track it had been I think some underpowered bikes will surprise a few people. Look at the lap times for Superbikes to supersports from the RRW website they are much closer than they had been in the past configuration.

High top speeds are still there across start finish so I don't imagine gearing being any different, you gotta gear it for the banking.

1st gear CAN be used in tighter sections when you're gearing so tall to begin with.

Gearing changes being made were prolly on the SB's where they have the option of internal ratio changes.

Yes, that's supposed to be the configuration, but even when I talked with Ron Barrick with the AMA in October, he raised concerns on a few of the infield turns.

And, yeah, you're still gonna have to gear for the banking...
