Title: Thunderbike ????

I was looking at the new rules online (because I haven't gotten anything in the mail...) but I noticed that T-bike now allows twins up to 750cc... Does this include a Ducati 748??? and before someone gets all upset...I noticed the FUSA rules say that 749 series are excluded but no mention of 748... is this a misprint??? they are obviously 2 different bikes but are the rules meant to group them together.

If the 748 is legal... I just may have to go get one a dem der fancy pant moorcycls :-*

Sometimes I wish they'd just put Thunderbike back what it was before, heavyweight sportsman. Was nice having a class where old bikes can be competative without the new high tech ones walking all over them.

Rob, I mentioned that to Kevin Elliot once.  His reply was, "Racing costs money.  Buy a competitive bike or quit your b**ching."
Personally, I wasn't exactly thrilled with that answer.  On the other hand, maybe I just caught him on a bad day.  Lord knows, I've been a thorn in Keven's side more than once....

If I'm gonna spend mucho bucks racing, I'll go back to SCCA. But if they are allowing the 748 in, they might as well allow R6's and rest of the current crop of 600's. :-/

Then again, I'm more likely done anyways. Cant find a fricken job in 6 months. The few interviews I had they seemed all excited then BAM the "Sorry but you are no longer under consideration" letter. I seriously think my ex mgrs are playing games.

From the 2005 on-line rule book:

6.5 THUNDERBIKE - Thunderbike machines, except single cylinder machines, are based upon production models, sold by manufacturers and their dealers in North America for street use. Proof of compliance rests with the competitor entering the motorcycle. Single cylinder machines are exempt from production and street use requirements. Single cylinder 2 stroke GP road race machines are not allowed in this class. All machines must have unaltered VIN numbers.

What Dawn posted was for CCS. The FUSA rules are a little different.

G. Thunderbike machines are required to meet horsepower to weight limit of 4.0 lbs
per horsepower . (Tested weight of machine divided by tested horsepower during
post race inspection.) Penalties for failure to meet this requirement will follow
Sportbike parameters.
1. Four cylinder liquid cooled machines are required to meet horsepower to weight
limit of 5.0 lbs per horsepower . (Tested weight of machine divided by tested
horsepower during post race inspection.) Penalties for failure to meet this
requirement will follow Sportbike parameters.
6.11.3- Thunderbike Class displacement limits are absolute and are set as follows:
THUNDERBIKE
Single cylinder, Unlimited displacement
Two stroke, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, air cooled, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, liquid cooled, 3 or less valves per cylinder, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, liquid cooled, 4 valve per cylinder, up to 750cc
Three cylinder, non-fuel injected, up to 1200cc
Four cylinder, air-cooled, up to 1200cc
Four cylinder, liquid cooled, 1990 to 1992 model year, up to 650cc
Four cylinder, liquid cooled (oil or water), pre-1990 model year, up to 860cc
All air-cooled, 2-valve, unlimited displacement

NOTE: Ducati 749 Series machines are excluded from this class.


So there are a few times when a CCS machine would not be legal for FUSA races and likewise a FUSA machine would not be legal for CCS races
