Title: Taking requests
Post by: cornercamping on December 28, 2004, 08:02:27 PM
for pictures from the North American International Autoshow.

Anyone want any special pictures?  I'm there for the "industry days" and "charity day" so I get first dibs on seeing everthing  :D

I wanna check out the new Dodge Charger before I commit to the Chrysler 300 SRT8  8)

I'll end up posting all the pics on my webpage in high-resolution so everyone can download at will.  I'll take a lot of pics.  Do it every year  :)

Requests?

<note to those about to ask.. It's winter, and I'm bored, so that's why I'm talking about cars on a motorcycle forum.>   ;)

I want a new Ford GT.  Wife said I could have one, but I'd have to stop racing and get rid of all my stuff.  Won't cover the cost, but you gotta love your wife when she says you can have it.

Reality...

Anything smaller with a diesel engine.  I'd love to have a diesel Ford Focus.

Huh?  PT Crusier, Ford GT, the new Ford Mustang, VW Beetle...All recent concepts that went into production.  Lately more of the concept stuff has been built.

Ok, let me say this about trucks...

For four years I worked under them.

Installing hitches, selling trailers, goosenecks, etc.

Dodge, Chevy, and Ford recognize the market and how a "truck" will be used, and what needs to be done.

I've been under mini vans, smaller pick ups, and SUV's.

Putting hitches on non-domestic trucks and SUV's really was an education.   I'm a whore when it comes to equipment, unless something makes me feel other wise.  Anyway, I wouldn't touch a non-domestic truck if I had any far away thought of using a reasonable trailer with it.  I'm sure people have had good luck, but the chassis and wiring issues that I could see from my simple point of view...lying on my back under the frame or under the dash for a brake controller...Until something different happens, trucks for some manufacturers are just fashion statements.

I like fashion statements!!!!!   ;D

And I like Honda vehicles.

I have a 2000 CR-V now.  It does have a hitch for little Menards runs or for the jet ski when we had it.  Definitely not a tow vehicle.  However, it is a fantastic vehicle for getting around up here in the winter.  Good gas mileage, does NOT get stuck and you can see over the snow banks here--they are about 4' right now and growing.

The towing capacity on the new Honda truck is not high (like the CR-V) and wouldn't be a tow vehicle.  But if it sits higher and is comparable to my CR-V, I'll consider it when I get a new vehicle--which is not in the racer budget so this conversation is a moot point anyway!   ;D

Let a girl dream...

Heather

Ok without any hard, scientific data to back this up.... I agree  :)  I'm generally not very pro-american when it comes to vehicles... but if I want a truck, you can bet it's gonna be from one of the "big-3."

That being said... wait for the '07 Nissan.  They have a serious overhaul in the works, and are planning to go after the domestic market in a big way.

Forgot the Viper, from concept to production in 18 months. ;D
