Oh my gosh, it's snowing! And not just crappy flakes that melt snow, REAL snow!!! Granted, it's not "sticking", but I have a picture of our cars with snow on them.
Merry Christmas to me! A white almost-Christmas for Maddie!
I realize for most of you, this is a non-event, but for us down here where it was 60 degrees two days ago, this is a sign of the apocalypse!
the fact that Texas exists is a sign of the apocalypse
Jealous, jealous, jealous...
I'll remember that next week when it's beautiful and 60 degrees while you're putting chains on your tires.
;D
Nah...
Only wussies put chains on thier tires.
We practice our driving skills on the lakes during the winters (both cars and bikes). You can finess a car into moving without chains, its all a matter of throttle control.
Dawn :D
BTW: Incase you were wondering, it was -6 this morning.
Yeah, me too. It can be snowing like crazy and we still do 80 mph on the e-way. ;D They get .5 inches down south and the whole state shuts down ;D It's snowing here too. Got about half an inch already and their saying it's going to snow 8 inches by tonight. Yeee Ha... time to get the 4 wheeler out :D
QuoteYeah, me too. It can be snowing like crazy and we still do 80 mph on the e-way. ;D
.... and end up doing some loopty-loops right into the ditch.
;D
Quote.... and end up doing some loopty-loops right into the ditch.
;D
Nah, only did that once. ;D 4-Wheel Drive 8) I"m one of those people. Fly by everyone on the e-way doing 50 mph because I have 4-Wheel drive and don't bother thinking about what if I gotta brake hard because of some other idiot ;D That's me 8) Only spun out once last year, and that was on an off ramp.
Yep, everything down here is shutting down. We're only still here because we're having lunch catered at noon.
;)
catered lunch hmm I think maybe our office is closing; yelling into the next office "hey it's snowing we are closed"
Honey what's for lunch?
A dusting and you're closing down???
What a bunch of lightweights.
Quotethe fact that Texas exists is a sign of the apocalypse
the oilmen cometh...
Actually the dusting is not the problem it is the rain that came before that is now turning into ice on the bridges.
Ihave seen the way you guys up north drive on ice better but still scary besides Dan lives up there. ;D
Just messing with you Dan about the 80 in the snow comment
What's "SNOW"?? 8) The first day of winter here has been freezing!! Had to put my jacket on! It got down to 71 today! BbbbbRRRRRRR!
I need to find a jacket, too. I put two shirts on today, because it was -6. My g/f is wondering when I'm going to cave in.
Obviously I don't work outside, so I don't see why I need a jacket just to walk to the car or shovel the small sidewalk we have.
I think is has something to do with the Red Sox winning the World Series when Hell freezes over. ;D
BTW, we're having a heat wave up here in Beantown. In the 50's tomorrow!
As per norm, TEXAS gets more snow than we do in So WI. ;D ;D
I miss my Sonoma 4X4 now. I made alot of $$$ dragging morons with 4wd's out of the ditch after they spun because they think 4wd is some miraculous device that allows them to drive normal speeds in slipepry conditions. ;D
But alas, sold the truck and its now ILLEGAL in WI to pull a vehicle out of a ditch (at least on main highways) unless you are a licensed tow truck driver. ::)
BTW chains are not allowed in WI either.
Only been ditched 4 times. 1 as a pass in a Mercury Capri that lost it rounding a curve (summer. hit gravel going too fast).
Another 1 as passenger. D-50 driven by my asst mgr looped it and backed it into a snowbank at 65mph when teh front wheel caught a snow drift.
Going 40 on I 43 heading west to Beloit, snowing a bit, but there was 8+" of snow still on teh roadway (was in 4wd). Some kid in a Festiva blew past me and the lady behind me and spun out in front of me. Took teh median so I wouldnt t-bone him. Hit teh turn around spot for the cops and jumped the truck. Landed and knocked it out of gear and got stuck.
Next day got forced off teh road by some jackweed who had to ride down teh middle of a narrow road.
Havent been in a ditch since. Hell most the time I drove teh sonoma in 2wd in snow up to 6".
QuoteOnly been ditched 4 times.
Someone needs to go back to drivers ed. ::) ;D
16" last Sunday.
6" more expected tonight. (Watch it..I know what you're thinkin'.)
They say its "lake effect" snow. Looks like regular snow, shovels like regular snow...I think it's snow.
Come to think of it, since it came down the lake on a northwest wind, it's actually Wisconsin snow.
I got a new puppy Saturday. I had to use a snowblower on the back yard to clear out a path so he could pee. He's lookin' at me like, "What the heck? I used to do this indoors on newspaper!"
Did you name him yet :D

LOL!!!
Paul had to take the tractor with the back blade to make a path for Marty in the snow. The poor little guy.... I wouldn't want to pee either if it was buried in the snow.
BTW, what kind of puppy did you get?
Dawn
QuoteDid you name him yet :D
Still choosing. My vote's for Dammit, but it's not gonna happen.
"Quit drinking out of the toilet Dammit!!"
Has a nice ring to it.

He's a yellow lab. Brown nose and blue eyes from some chocolate lab in the past, which is not allowed for the yellow lab line but it sure makes him look cute. I took one look at him in the litter and knew it was all over right there.
Here's a pic if it works:

Oh, sorry for the threadjack. I'm just a proud papa right now. ;D
I've gotta go if I want to stay married. My turn to take him out (again).
Back to snow talk...
QuoteSomeone needs to go back to drivers ed. ::) ;D
This coming from someone who cant even figure out how to drill holes for safety wires. ;D

Yeah, but I have no problem admitting it. Are you admitting you are a bad driver ??? ;) ;D :-*

I wanted to name my dog Stugots, but the wife wasn't havin' it ;D

Seeing 2 of them I wasent even driving. ;D, and the other 2 were to AVOID an accident. Never been ditched for driving too fast. for conditions. ;D

Uh huh.... ::) ;D
One time I went off roading on my error. The rest of the time, 6 inches of snow, and Dan's in 4 wheel drive doing 80 mph 8) I ain't skeered of no snow ;D
In Detroit, you have to learn how to drive in 7 to 9 inches of snow and still drive like it's normal, cause the city of Detroit isn't too efficient on plowing snow. Especially the side streets. They don't even plow most of them.
I wonder how spinners work in the snow ??? If your riding on "twinkies," don't they get stuck with snow getting trapped between the rim and the spinning part ??? Plus, 1987 Oldsmobile's are rear wheel drive. Does not having paint on the car make a difference regarding weight transfer ??? Does the bass from 6 subwoofers in the trunk knock the snow off the windows instead of getting the defroster fixed in da hooptie?
Bling Bling...
;D
The cute blue eyed puppy is the one not wearing the jacket, right? ;D

Named my dog Liberace, cuz he's the peeinist. :p
Yeah, snow or ice in Dallas? Forget about it. Believe me, it's dangerous enough driving down there in good weather but add a little ice and you're in big trouble. And a while after the event too because there will be sand everywhere. Spun my 65 Mustang out once when someone decided to merge into me and the shoulder was covered with sand.
It snowed here too!!! And now it's -1 degree out there!!! Who would have ever thought it in Appleton Wisconsin! :o We bundle up with Daytona on our mind.
Oh yea, when you see Bill Fehrman, ask him if he has a "mouse" gun.
Bah... I'm having a bad day. I got 3 parking tickets today for having vehicles parked in the street during a snow emergency >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Um yeah. We're up to around 4' and counting.
Snowblowing the backyard for the weiner dog is part of life.
I don't mind snow. I just hate the 0-10 temps we've been having with tons of snow.
Heather
Chicago, zero degrees, -10 wind chill, not one snowflake to be seen anywhere. The lawns are even more green than yellow. Weird.
Can anyone else best 24" and 4' drifts today ? :)
Sunny and 75* today.
Oh yea, wait,... I'm in Hawaii. :D Suckas.
You can keep the snow! It gets below 70 here and I want to go hibernate or fly south. ;D Personally, I don't think that "mother nature" has made up her mind yet........ 25 one day and 70 the next. Sounds like my mother with hot flashes! ;D ;D ;D
We only have 7" of snow on the ground so far (January is our big month), but it is -21 this morning without the windchill.
Dawn :-/
Yuck! Well, as predicted, our temps went back to normal on CHRISTMAS! Geez, the one day it should be cold and it's above 60! Oh, well, it's almost 70 now. I think I got a bit of a sunburn yesterday waiting for Eric to bring the truck around at the mall. In case you were wondering, it's hard to find sunblock in December, even in Texas. :)
