... have you owned?
I was going through our old pictures looking for a picture of our '69 Ford F100 when I came across pictures of cars that we used to own such as:
67 Camaro (sold to pay for school)
72 Dodge Charger (bought with front end damage, started to repair it but was offered more money for the frame and than what we paid for it, scarfed the motor and tranny and sold the rest) BTW We have two doors and a hood if anyone's interested.
73 Plymouth Cuda with a 318 w/340 internals... (newly married, we couldn't refuse the offer that was made)
73 Mustang Fastback (it was sold to buy my wedding ring)
?? Mercury Capri V-6 (the German model, 5 speed)
82 Mustang GT (the first model with the 5.0 HO) 5 speed
89 Pontiac GTA, we brought Renee home from the hospital in this car.
99 Ford Mustang GT...
72 Plymouth Fury - big tan ugly thing, but with a Chrysler 440 w/high flow heads, headers, dual exhaust, and a 4bbl carb. NOTHING could keep up with that car. (That motor is now in the '69 Ford) ;D
<sigh>
:-/
I scratched and saved for a long time and it took me about three years to complete my Shelby Cobra. Still have it, but I'll probably have to sell it soon.
I managed to get one of my dream bikes this past season. It rides as great as it looks, the MV F4
70 1/2 Camaro SS for a 1st car. ;D IRonically I turned down a 1970 Plymouth Superbird 440+6 for $3K. Thought it was a kit car or custom car. Never even heard of them at the time. Also it was right before teh prices went through tthe roof for old muscle cars like that. HAd the SS for 2 weeks before the hood decided to meet the roof on the interstate.
Had a 79 Holden Torana with the "bad add" 1.9 Starfire motor. An old lady pushing a stroller would beat me across teh intersection. ;D
One I wish I still had was my first BRAND NEW car, a 1988 Ford Falcon XF V6. Always getting a talking to by the local police for playing in roundabouts with it.:D
Bought a 88 Shelby CSX in 90 and ended up modding the motor to a tune of 270FWHP, full cage, Simpson 5pt harnesses, Koni adj struts & sway bars and a DOminos Pizza lighted door sail. ;DWas the Fastest DOminos car in the region. ;D Made Rockford to Janesville in 16 minutes one night. :o ;D
Now got a go-kart with a Dakota body on it. :D
COOL cars I've owned? THat narrows my list down a bit.
1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo - Had 2 of these. The "cool" one was gold on gold. Turbocharged, intercooled, ported head, big cam, custom computer, all the good stuff. Car only managed to stay on the road ~2 months out of the year before catastrophic failure... had it for 3 years and 3 catastrophies before I sold it.
2001 Corvette Z06 - Stopped in to the local Chevy dealer to check out a new 2-door Blazer they had sitting out front with a "$150 a month" sign on it. I thought it'd make a nice winter beater. Came home with the shiny black on black Z06 they had on the showroom floor instead. What can I say? I'm horrible with impulse buys.
Had a 73 Mercury Capri with the 74 2800cc V6 motor. I modded the engine to the moon, and tightened the suspension down with homemade and aftermarket parts. 13/78 tires became 15/60s, stuffed under big wheel flares and custom paint. It would outhandle a 280Z, and outrun a 6.6 TA to 100 mph.
My 68 Fairlane Ragtop was a neat car. It started as a 302 2bbl automatic, but 5 or 6 engines later, it was the 429 police interceptor, 4 speed and 9" posi that snapped the frame....
Had a Thunderbird turbo and a Fiero GT that were all right cars.
My 91 Capri turbo ragtop was a joy to drive, but a disaster to keep running.
Bikes? A slew of "Top Gun" 900 Ninjas, a GPZ 750, a ZX11 D model, a Goldwing, and all the race bikes.
Wants? A perfect 916 on display in my living room, an SV superbike in my trailer, and a Ferrari 356 California Spider in the garage for nice days! ;D
First Car: 1980 Plymouth Horizon (best car ever)
Next: 1993 Camaro IROC (hit parking block, destroyed)
Next: 1993 Cavalier (blew motor)
Next: 1988 Chevy Celebrity (blew transmission)
Next: 1991 Escort GT (blew clutch)
Next: 1999 Escort GT (blew motor)
Next: 2002 Explorer (accident)
Next: 2004 Lexus LS430 (at the dealer every week with a problem of some sorts)
Now: Dodge Ram 1500 (lease POS I can't turn in yet)
Next: Chrysler 300 C SRT8 (when it comes out)
What I really want but can't justify the payment on: MB SL65 AMG
Bikes: See Signature Line
Favorite Bike: 04' 749S
I decked that bike out, and sold it. Put Ohlins suspension all the way around, BST carbon wheels, Brembo mono-block calipers, STM slipper clutch, Cycle Cat bits and bolts, and a bunch of carbon fiber.
Out of all those vehicles, the Horizon was probably the best one. That thing could handle Neutral Drops all day long without any issues. No oil changes, no maintance, no anything and it went 63,000 miles before I went baja'n in the snow on a dirt road and hit a tree :(

Now I am JEALOUS!! WOW
My fav was my 1986 Mercury Capri w/5.o H O, 308 geared rear and T5 tranny. Stock as it was I blew the doors off my buds new Greenwood Vette. I also loved my 66 Stang, 85 Stang, 69 Charger, and I LOVE my 87 T-Bird 5.0. It still gets 28 MPG on the hwy with 160,00 miles on it.
As far as motorcycles :-[ the Harley Sportster I had was nice.
1964 impala ss
red w/ black int
327 b-o 30 over
powerglide trannie
rochester quadrajet (spell?)
crager ss rims
Sold to make $$ to race. I wept but it's worth it.
Tobias
I haven't sold any of the cool stuff (yet).
My beater truck is an ugly '57 Chevy longbed, with a '69 4 bolt 350 in front of the original HD 4 speed. Its loud and uncomfortable, but still cooler than some modern truck.
My coolest car (though my wife might disagree) is a '64 Triumph TR-4. It was my driver during college, has been down for years for a very slow restoration, and will soon be my daily driver again. Ported and milled "big port" TR-3 head, Isky cam, header & big exhaust, factory option swaybar, rollbar, and four points. Soon it will be out on the track for a little vintage fun.
Every now and then I do think of selling my streetbike, but its a little too cool to sell: a '98 Moto Guzzi V-10 Centauro Sport.
I do have a '73 Volvo 1800ES I'm looking to get rid of, if someone else wants to be cool too ;D
-z.
Well I have only one car I qualify as cool and only one other car I have ever owned others have been trucks/bikes.
First car 66 GTO with a Tri-power four speed. couldn't afford a new wiring harness so I sold it and bought a mini truck.
only other car 93 Passat GLX strange inline V6 that was very peppy but had electrical problems and was sold back as a lemon
Strange wierd stuff I own/have owned 85 &86 OMCC Pulse 400 still have one (85)with blown motor or some such here is link http://www.bconnex.net/~vortex/pulse.htm
had multiple GSXRs including a 750/1100 looking for a GSXR50
Some day I want a HD XLCR (the only HD I'd want).

I've owned way too many too list... ;)
Aaaahhhh....
Thanks Chris for the reminder. The Capri was a 73 model also (I remember you and Paul compairing notes). Same motor, leather, moon roof, all the options, green with a black vinyl roof. That car could move.
Here's a picture of one I found on the net.

:)
Cool bikes:
1976 KZ400, tangarine orange, absolutely perfect - - that was until I dumped it. I can still remember the first words out of Paul's mouth: "Look what you did to my bike!!!!!"
78 or 79 KZ900 with a Kerker header (you should have heard it when we took the pipe off. ;D Served the _ _ _ _ _ who lived down stairs right.
2001 Hyabusa
:)
i've owned nothing cool...
I had a 76 plymouth fury, but it was an embarrassment.
One of my favorites was my 83 ford ranger 4spd which I bought with 200k miles on it. It was in 17 accidents including 2 roll overs and caught on fire once - before I bought it. That thing looked like HELL but ran like a top. It ran so good, you shut it off and it STILL kept running ;D
QuoteIt ran so good, you shut it off and it STILL kept running ;D
My Horizon did that too ;D That way I could leave it running at the gas station and take the key out and lock the door while I went and paid for the gas ;D ;D ;D

All I knew that you had was a Honda Civic, and a Jeep Cherokee........... I thought you said you bought the wife a Chrysler last year due to her destroyed her car from running off a dog cage or something................. ::)
Those are the wife's not mine. Well, the Chrysler is, but she drives it not me.
I had an 81 Z28 4-Speed. I took the engine out and bought a ZZ3 crate motor from GM. It was hosed from the beginning, so I took it to Lingenfelter to be "fixed" ;D It made 400HP and over 400 lb-ft of torque ~2500. I sold it to get married. :(
I also had an 89 SHO. Not a real cool car, but I did like it. It was neat to have a Taurus that had a manual tranny in it. Great car to take trips in!
My current car is a 93 RX-7. Sold a 97 Z-28 to get it cause I wanted something I didn't see every day. Its a real fun car.
My '98 Taurus has no heat... does that mean it's "cool"? And my '92 Escort has a "custom" exhaust... LOLOL!
My cars have always been functional little boxes (well, except for the '73 LTD which was a functional TANK-o-box!). The next car I buy will have a sunroof, stick shift and a "real" stereo.
I've had some reasonably cool bikes... my favorite was my '93 Heritage Softail. Black and scarlet red two-tone, leather saddlebags, solo seat... That bike and I went everywhere - until I traded her in on a refrigerator white Electra Glide 18 months later.
I learned my lesson with buying cars. Never again. I"ll lease them. It's cheaper for me. I'm not mechanically inclined, so I don't do repairs or maintance. For a couple hundred a month, it's not a bad deal. Better than spending $3k on a car, and then another $400 a year to keep it running. A friend of mine just got his wife a new Chrysler Caravan lease for $150.00 a month, and it's got alot of toys.
'72 Pinto hatchback. Actually, the coolest part about it was the license plate. Had WI vanity plates (or was it personalized plates, there is a difference) you could choose. The plate read "H Bomb" 8)
I got it because I'm H. and my car was the H-bomb. Everyone else thought it was a comment or warning about hitting me from behind ;D
Boy, I could fill that tank for $5 back then.
I had a 93 Mitsu Eclipse GST with upgraded turbo and 18" wheels. handled really good go pretty fast too. I totalled it going 110 mph down I-95 in pouring rain.
I have not owned a car since that can go remotely as fast. and I drive really slow in the rain.
I have been eyeing the Lotus Elise for about 5 years. If I didn't start racing I would be driving in one right now. But all my money when bye bye the first time I put a leg over a bike.
Got my license in '69
1st car - 49 Chrysler 2 door coupe - got it from my grandfather - back when cars had cool interiors - Fluid Drive semi-automatic trans.
61 Plymouth Fury Conv. w/ 361-good times till the floor boards completely rusted out.
55 Chevy 4 door w/ 283 - piece of junk
63 Rambler Station Wagon - great car for bumper skiing.
50 Plymouth Sedan - another 'babe' interior.
73 - Off to Germany ......
63 VW Beetle -I screamed everytime I had to pass a semi on the Autobahn. MB, BMW, Porsche, Audi headlights flashing in my mirror a mile behind going twice as fast as I could.
66 Porsche 912 - intended to bring it home. Did you know those 1 meter tall wht/blk posts along the 2 lane roads have 2 circle reflectors on the left side and 1 rectangle reflector on the right side? I found out one foggy night when I drove to the left of the post that was on the left!
69 Audi 100S - fun car in the snow and on the Autobahn.
Back in USA.....
76 Plymouth Volare Station Wagon. Totalled after it was hit twice within 2 hours while parked!
76 Volvo 242 - Best car I ever owned. Kept it 14 years.
78 Renault LeCar - fun car in the snow 'cause it was so light.
81 Plymouth Reliant K car wagon - piece of Junk!
85 Chevy Astro Van - Seat fabric disintegrated from exposure to the sun after about 6 yrs.
88 Taurus - Drove the crap out of it for 13 yrs - so did my kids.
91 Nissan SE-V6 ext cab 2WD. Spent almost $3K replacing a head on it 6 months after I bought it - oil leak where the cam rides in the head.
97 Ford Aerostar - basic van - still drive it.
92 Lexus 300ES - totalled Jan 03 ice storm - an 02 BMW 325 got between my rear end and a semi.
94 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 ext cab - 203K miles - still own it.
Ah, my first vehicle...
I turned down a motorcycle. My mom asked me if I wanted one.
So, I got a 1971 Jeepster Commando. Probably one of the few older cars that I'd like to have again.
1985 Ford Bronco...that's a full size model. Four speed with a granny low behind an in-line 300ci six.
That ended up being my first race transport vehicle.
I had a 1971 Javelin SST. 401 High Compression motor.
That led to the 1969 AMX. 390 four speed. True sports car with only front seats.
Then there was the silver Van, the '79 (first year of square head lights).
The 1989 Red van followed. Used that from 1991 through 2000. Lots of miles, sold it to a friend and he's still using it.
The Dually, Diesel E350 now. I love that. Had to go drive it yesterday and spool up the turbo.
Then there's the Merkur XR4Ti. I really liked that car too. I put on Borla dual exhaust on it, K&N, and I figured out how to tune the turbo by jumping the boost control selanoid...Great chassis.
Now I have the cool 1990 Mercury Sable. I like that car.

Damn, caught again. ;D
yeah ::)
Didn't you know, I've known Sunny all my life. ::)
Actually, I've probably seen Sunny about 12 times in my life. Most of it in a one year time span. Other than that, I don't know him. Only from the race track and club meetings/Sunday Rides.
::) :-/ ::)

What happened to your VW GTI from the WERA board? You know, the one getting the aftermarket goodies... ;)
Oh ohhh....
This is turning into "let's catch Dan in a lie" thread. We all know he's full of BS, perhaps just more than most.
I'm locking the thread that was intended for fun because it is now taking a wrong turn.
