Title: stolen
Post by: thegoshow2002 on September 28, 2004, 11:59:52 AM
My truck and race bike was stolen last night from Phoenix AZ.
Please if anyone in the Phoenix area can keep there eyes open for a 2003 GSXR750 with black race plastics, full arrow exhaust, Novce plates #41.

VIN # JS1GR7HA732102733.

Its good job I dont have a firearm because I could go on a killing spree right now.

Seeing as I wont be able to race at Firebird in a few weeks, if anyone needs help in the pits then let me know.  It would take my mind off of this and still let me be at the track.

that freakin sucks man! I had a bike stolen once and I still am paranoid about it 3-4 years later. I even have FULL security system on my garage just to keep my bikes safer. We're talking motions, door sensors, etc. good luck. you're welcome to hang with us in the Ball Sac Racing pit. There's 4 of us plus I have 2 friends coming from San Diego who are staying with me. Add that to the bunch of local friends, and we may have a decent sized crowd.

All I can say is start watching ebay, yahoo auctions, trader on line and the local classifieds. Post it up in every bike shop within 200 miles if possible.  >:( Dam thieves.

Bikes in general don't end up in Mexico. If you have a Chevy truck, it's a different story.

Hey, Brian

What good is it to have an alarm on your garage when you keep your bike in my garage?

Well, that wasn't the original plan. Notice how I keep telling you to get a security system put in place?!! I have the hookups on security monitoring through my uncle's security company.

I would love a firearm, but I am not a U.S citizen. So they won't let me have one  >:(

The truck is a silver 03 Dakota with Michigan tags.

Are race bikes covered under home owners insurance?

QuoteAre race bikes covered under home owners insurance?

When I asked my insurance agent (Farmers Insurance), he mentioned that whenever it's a vehicle with a title, that it requires it's own policy... They wouldn't write me a policy for my racebikes though unless I had a "current" license plate, even though all I wanted was theft coverage. I have coverage on my trailer, but it won't cover the bikes, even if they are being transported inside the trailer and I get into an accident or they get stolen...

My $4,500, $1,500, and $300 mountain bikes are covered under my home owners insurance. So are you saying we have to "un-title" the race bike to cover it in your home policy?
Title: Re: stolen
Post by: Protein Filled on September 29, 2004, 01:36:51 PM
Oops, I should have said a vehicle with a motor. No, it does not matter if they are not titled. They wouldn't even insure my dirt bike  :-/

don't rush to conclusions people. Ray "thinks" he saw his bike. It may not be it or it may be gone now. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Good job though Ray!

goshow.. now that you have been a victim, here's something to keep in mind:

A cheap $99.00 aftermarket keyless entry or alarm system with a starter kill would have prevented your truck from being taken in the first place.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything like that.  You may want to consider this seriously now.  Alot of people don't get such electronics until after the fact.  I'm also not trying to sell you anything, but I can help make recommendations for the future.  Some things everyone should keep in mind:

The factory systems do NOT prevent theft.  Even the "chip in the key" transponder systems can be bypassed very quickly.

Also, if you guys are interested, I can tell you how to make your own starter kill system with nothing more than $10.00 in parts from radioshack.  All you need is a 12V 30 A SPDT Relay, and a toggle switch.  You hook up the relay (5 wires) and hide the toggle where you want it.  Unless you turn the switch to the ON position, the car can't crank, even if they pop the column.  It's very easy to put this in.  Anyone that can change a fuse can do it.  Let me know.

Here's some recommendations for alarms/keyless entry:

www.directed.com    ANY alarm on that list

Wow, proves how small of a world it is.  It's amazing that a bike could be stolen, a message posted that was read by only a handful of people in the greater Phoniex area, and the bike could be found and recoverd.

A great ending to a tragic story  :).  Good job Ray!

Zac, to be honest, I saw this in RRW too...and that's read nationwide.

:DHaving experienced losing bikes to thieves, I was glad to help recover the bike for Anthony.  Just goes to show that getting the word out sometimes gets things done!  I wouldn't have thought twice about that bike if I hadn't seen the post here on the CCS forum.  ;D

I'm so happy for the owner of the truck and bike.  That would have bothered you forever.  Now it can bother the thief forever.

A member of this forum (Rat Hymer) let me know that he had seen a racebike on the back of a silver pickup at an appartment complex not too far from where I live.  With the help of the Phoenix P.D I reclaimed both the truck and the bike which was untouched ( the trucks ignition is messed up but the insurance will cover that)

Unforetunately I didnt get to catch the thief, I would have loved to be able to take a ball-peen hammer to his nuts but I guess that would have been to good to be true  ;D

I do have a sneaking suspicion that the thief goes to school with me at M.M.I

so wait, you're telling me that the theif just took it and your truck to a local apartment complex and left it?!!?! The cops don't believe that the theif lives there?

So, I'm confused. Why would a theif do that? Seems almost like he wanted for you to find it????
Title: Re: stolen

Should've not done anything but sit there and watch it, and wait for the thief to get in it.  Then, drag him/her out by their neck, and beat them like a redheaded step child  ;D  Then, call the cops and say your were chasing them and they must of tripped.

"I don't know how his nose broken officer.  That's not my shoe print on his face.  He must have tripped and fell face first into a pair of Nike's."

Hey first off- I am glad you got your bike back Anthony.  Thank you very much Ray Hymer!  And cornercRamping- why are you such a jerk?  The last thing an adult needs is a scolding 'lesson' from you on theft protection!  You are a true ass and I wish you  were banned again.  Anthony, check with admin at the MMI school and explain your situation.  They may not give you a address list, but may give you a list of people that list the apartment complex address on thier records.  The cops may help with this, but it is a touchy situation, get some higher ups at the school involved.  MMI is and has been a haven for dirty crooks for as long as I can remember (which is a real long time!).  Classmates will basically stalk those who show up with nice equipment, tools etc and steal them.  It is pretty horrible since most of the student population is broke and work hard to pay for the rent, school and the occaissonal toy.  Anthony and Ray, I would like to speak with both of you at the next race- great story!- Had to edit, in place of Anthony I wrote Nate the whole time!  What is up with that!

I wasn't trying to be an ass. I wasn't trying to teach anyone a "lesson" either. I was trying to inform for those that don't know about these things. The simplest things can help. Sorry, from now on I'll keep my mouth shut when I can help someone or bring knowledge to the table that can asist others in dealing with headaches.

and I wasn't banned.

Dude, that is the best story I have heard in a while.  I am so glad to see the victim win one for a change.  Luckily, knock on wood, I've never had a bike stolen.  In '94 my 4 best friends trailered their bikes to come watch me and my teammate on a race weekend (Moroso of course).  The trailer and all 4 bikes were stolen on Friday night and I will never forget how bad I felt, nice to see it turn out right for once... now, be sure to win at the race !
