I'm crunching numbers to see if this would be feasible for CCS to try and implement, and wanted your take on it.
I'm basing my figures for CCS on a 30-35% price break off a full season gate fee. My thought is that it would have to be something that a Racer could purchase and break even or be a tiny bit under while still being able to miss 3 events.
I.e.,
Season is 10 weekends, each weekend is $25.00 gate. Total possible fee = $250.00. Reduced season pass $175 at 30% off, $163 at 35% off.
If the racer attended 7 events, at 30% off, he'd break even. At 35% off, he'd be benefiting (CCS would lose) $13.00.
Obviously if the racer attended more than the 7 events, he's coming out ahead.
So what's the incentive here?
Well, you can purchase this off-season (Dec/Jan) and balance out your race budget. It also provides additional capabilities of putting this on a credit card (something you can't do now at the gate). It might also get you to races you wouldn't go to normally because now you have a season pass to get through the gate free (whether to spectate or participate). And finally, it's structured to SAVE YOU MONEY.
The program would be structured to also have further reductions for Self +1 or more.
I can't vote on the poll...but you can add me as a "no".
Also, the gate fees aren't always the same. Roebling is only $20, and aren't FUSA weekends $30 or $35 or so?
also depends if you come for all days or just show up the day of the race..I had "free" passes this year for championships, that was cool!

Really? You're one who I'd think for sure would have been up for it. Wanna share why you wouldn't be interested?
I voted "yes". I think more simply would be to offer a "10-race pass" which could be used at CCS or FUSA events. Maybe even if you pay full price for one pass, you get an extra pass at 30-35% off which could go to sponsors or that "vip" fan.
Keep in mind that depending on the track, CCS may have to split the take on gate fees with the track. I personally would like to have the option of a season pass. One more thing, what happens if(WHEN) race weekends get cancelled?
I've already considered that in different venues, different parties get the gate. If CCS went with this route, it could be as simple as them writing the track a check for the gate on that particular weekend, using money we've already paid them which has been drawing interest for X months...
Canx'd weekends? Hmmm... well, such is life... You buy a season pass to a ski mountain, and spring comes early do you get a refund?
Alternatively, if you buy a season pass to CCS, and decide to travel the country doing an event every weekend in various regions; you benefit SIGNIFICANTLY. Not really realistic, but you get the point.
I have some experience in this area, having to set up gate personnel to sell armbands etc. at Barber and VIR. It would be difficult to keep up with who paid in advance and who didn't at each venue. Unless some sort of coupon or reservation could be brought to the track with you when you check in at the gate.
Besides, some regions don't have 10 races in the year .. Southeast for instance! And then ... what would happen if a race weekend got cancelled?
Another option ... increase the cost of 1st entries in Pre-entry only to include a gate pass.
I would assume you would issue a credential at the beginning of the season for the person who bought the pass. Would these be allowed to transfer to another individual? That could get sticky, I would think. Any ideas?
team owner program includes(d) gate pass
Team owner is built for FUSA, not CCS. I'm more gearing toward CCS.
This really isn't that difficult.
Smaller regions? Either sell them by region which would be inherently more difficult, or understand that you (CCS) may not get a large purchase from that region. You don't get a reduced price on the license for the season based on # of races in your region...
Transfers? Why not? Of course this would involve some sort of an administrative fee.
Punch-card type of pass. Easily trackable and transferable. You can make the card display the maximum possible number of regional races. Then for those regions with fewer rounds, just pre-mark the number of rounds available or remaining in that particular region. This would be something completely variable (flexible) and something that could be purchased throughout the season. If you issue a number to every card, the gate could record the number when you sign in, then CCS could write a check only for the number of season pass holders that checked-in. This would be a win for CCS when season card holders don't show up (money stays in the bank).
Let's do it.

More up front cost that I don't have the ability to come up with.
Additionally, if I get an offer to go do something else, well, I'm out the money. Then I've got to maybe hold on to it for the next event, etc.
Seems kind of cumbersome.
FUSA has it, yes. I was lucky enough that I got a sponsor to help me out on it.
It does cover two gate passes for my team. But it also had the opportunity for early registration, provisional starts, etc. Nice perk if you were doing FUSA.
And back to the money thing...unless I'm getting a perk, I'd like to keep the money in my bank making XX $ of bling... ;D
Makes sense Dave... And if the team owner were cheaper and structured around CCS, it might be something that more people would do.
I'm with you on the upfront costs, but personally I'd rather take the hit in Dec/Jan/Feb, before the season than the constant bite out of my cheek every weekend... But that's just me. I understand it's not right for everyone.
