I got some diesel here in lovely northern Virginia yesterday and found, much to my shock and horror, that I was paying $1.99 per gallon!! :o What's up with that? That was higher than super premium unleaded. What's every one else paying these days?
In the city of Los Angeles I've seen diesel for around $2.49 :o ...stop complaining. ;)

Marion, WI
$2.14 as of 09/26/04
Janesville, Wi $ 1.89.9 as of yesterday. $48 to filler up!!
I pick up the brochure from the different truck stops call ahead to check prices and plan my stops and fill ups accordingly. On the trip out to vegas the price varied from 2.03 down to 1.79 and when you are getting 250 gallons at a pop it makes a huge differnece. Also if you are near a Love's Flying J etc. you can get their frequent fuleer card which gives you a penny on c.c. transactions and 2(hey there is no cents key on this keyboard ??? ). OK and LA generally have the best price, but the kicker was AZ with an 8 cent additional tax for semi trucks!!!
S.E. WI, $1.93-$1.97
Gas on the other hand is $2.09 (cheap stuff)

Strange.....
Around the Clintonville/Marion area, regular gas is $1.96 a gallon, but diesel is $2.14. I guess it all has to do with location.

I'm seeing it here in my area of WI for $2.05 to $2.09.
This is just bad for everyone.
I'll paraphrase, so follow me here.
The Hippie/Tree Huggers don't want us to drill for oil in our own country. That has to be protected. But everyone else can go out and destroy their country with reckless abandon to feed our economic need. We drop tons of our money developing some of these countries that can't do anything themselves.
Remember we drive the world. How much money did we give Iraq? Germany? France? Brazil? Hey, we make our meds cost more so that all those socialist counties can have cheap meds.
So, since we can trash the enviornment of other countries because these goofy "world laws" exist to allow it, why don't we just stop wasting our time in these unappreciative places...
We could go do some very nice drilling under very controlled conditions in Alasaka, etc. We'd make it really nice so we don't disturb the caribu and the turtles. Hey, we'd probably save money in the long and short run since we'd probably employ people we know. You know when the Russians go drilling for oil, they certainly aren't held to the same standards we are...
Meanwhile, the world runs on diesel. From corn, to paper, from beef, to tampons, from pencils, to lumber...it all gets moved by rail, truck, or plane. That's diesel, or it's related counterpart, jet fuel.
So, although it sucks to have to pay the extra money for diesel right now for my bus, the part that blows is that EVERYTHING costs more because of it.
Let's start drilling for our own fuel in our own places.
Same goes for lumber. We can't do a nice harvesting of wood in America, but they are more than welcome to completely strip areas of China and Brazil. And then we're supposed to buy that, huh.
;D
Isn't it funny when I go off on a tangent....
It would be an interesting country if we could vote on topics versus a person (stolen concept from a radio program).
I'll bet we'd be drilling in AK by now if it were up to the popular vote...
2.09 in Tampa area is cheapest i found pretty bad when i was payin 1.79 a week ago
steve go to wally mart in the park, filled up there at$1.85 the prices are crazy, when I bought my truck a year ago I was paying $1.29..Talk about an increase for a fuel that is half as refined as regular gas.I dont get it. :-/
Wow I guess prices are bad all over. The recent sharp spike in price just caught me off guard.
Prices are definitely cheaper in the southeast.
Try filling up over a 100 gallons at a time of diesel. It makes me cringe everytime.
I used to complain when it was 1.69
