Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is John and I am new to CCS. I will be racing for the first time this weekend @ VIR Sept. 25-26. I will be racing in the MW Superport and MW Superbike. Since this is my first race any advice would be very greatful. I am a uncertain about how a race weekend works and I want to make this as least stressful as possible.
Thanks,
John Milliron

Welcome John,
One little thing I did and found to be helpful. At your first race w/e, wear a t-shirt or vest that's a contrasting colour over your leathers.
It isn't a requirement for CCS but is over at WERA (in fact you have to wear it for your first 2 race w/e-s). The vest will let the other racers know to be alert around you as this is your first time. Who knows, maybe they'll cut you some slack and allow 12" space as they pass ya ;).
Have fun out there.

i agree on the shirt ., unless you are really fast ., you may feel funny., but i always gave that little extra room when i saw one..,
and also talk top the people in the pits next to you., they are always more than happy to help and answer questions., do not feel funny, we love to help and talk and BS , that is what it is all about...

WERD!!
The race is but 8-10 minutes, but the openess, friendliness and helpfulness of most everyone there is something else.

Look up... look ahead... look where you want to go. Welcome to the circus John. Have fun! ;) Mark!
Be positive, and go around the pits saying HI to everyone, its the best way to make a lot of new friends

and when you get as good as Jesse you will have a hugh number of fans like he does.
Good Luck,John a tip I can give you, if possible go to the Friday practice, so you can feel comfortable with the track layout for the race weekend. Get to the track early, don't forget enough gas!!!! Though one of your fellow racers will give you some if you forget. Registration on Sat. morning opens at 7am, be ready at 645am.. get thru registered quick and get your bike teched ..because before you know it you will be hearing 1st, 2nd and 3rd call for your first practice!!! Again, i wish you fun and a safe weekend, stop by and say hello. I am Dave, Amateur #696 (x) racing an 03 Kawi ZX6RR (the Green Goblin).. BTW seeing JJanisch race makes ya want to run out an race prep an SV650... ;D ;D
Thanks everyone for the replies. Like I said all of the help is greatful. I am trying to keep my nerves down this week but they just shot through the roof because my transmission in my truck just went. I am still going VIR and racing though.
John, do you happen to live in Raleigh?
No I live in Richmond, VA.
Do the practice and wear the shirt. Wish I would have worn a shirt for my first race last year. I needed a couple more inches I guess. :-[
