I was amazed at how many people were at BFR for a regional event, I heard something like 900+ entries for Sunday which broke some long standing record. The amount of racers already at the track when I went to registration on Friday was also very impressive, for Friday just being a practice day. I realize that the Wegman Auction happened this weekend also (and brought in a substantial amount of money by what Gordy said), but I believe this was more people than I have ever seen before at BFR. On top of all this the weather was absolutly perfect all weekend, what a great way to end the season's events at BFR! :)
It goes back to about 1993 or so. There were a good number of us that raced at Blackhawk with some reasonable regularity. So, when Honda money was up for grabs, it was literally like an AMA National at Blackhawk. No big rigs like now. If you had a tandem axle trailer, you were big time. So, there was more room.
Nine-hundred-thirty-some-odd entries. Teams stacked two-deep in the paddock along hot pit. A traffic jam on the entry road that was two-wide ALL the way onto the STREET! Twenty-three (six?) THOUSAND DOLLARS RAISED FOR THE WEGMAN!!!
And it was all gotten in, on time.
Everybody raise your left arm... reach your hand behind your shoulder and give yourselves a collective ATTABOY!
Once again, "summer camp" has been brought to a close. Is it April yet????
Yep, I was absolutely amazed at the turnout. New track record as well!
Although, it was much like an AMA race... Dicing for the back pack :)
Personally ran my fastest BHF time ever this weekend, which felt good as well. Still room for improvement, but it's coming.....
<removing my personal experiences as they seem to be taken wrong.>
wow sorry we missed all the fun but we were there friday and then :'( ya not good .. we left about noon... so what was the new track time record .
1:09.7 by Mark Junge
Egar... are you the LWGP champion? ;)
Not for Great Plains. Matt Hall took it home. I missed the first Topeka and the Gateway rounds so I was out of the running. I think I took 5th or something like that.
For Midwest, I am in 1st, ahead of Mark Stiles on that one, but it's coming down to the Gingerman round.
BTW, the lap times this weekend were awfully fast. Ed Key turned a 1:14.2 on his SV. Lacy did a 14.35 as well. I was in the 16's getting my butt kicked all weekend. Last BHF weekend, 16's put you right in the middle of things, but not this time around.

I though Denning did a 1:08 last year? ???
Denning had a 1:09.8
QuoteDenning had a 1:09.8
I could had swore Griff (I belive he was announcing that day, but dont quote me) said 1:08.9. Maybe he said it wrong or I got it backwards.:D
Rob et al:
I was announcing that day and that is what I said. It was handed to me, written down, by our fearless leader Mr. Fehrman.
So sorry to miss the event. I was scheduled to announce at 'another event', but when that event got postponed, I found myself with a free weekend. I schedule all of my CCS / FUSA dates as soon as the schedule is released the preceding fall and I couldn't snag a last-minute deal for the Wegman. That wouldn't have been fair to the announcer that was already planned for that weekend and frankly, it would have cost them too much to fly me first class from Burbank at the last minute.
;)
So ... I went racing YSR's on Sat (didn't crash, beat at least one other guy, had fun, and got a third place finish in Formula One at Beaver Run (wicked-a$$ track)). I also went karting on Sunday at Thompson with CKRA. Though I've won with a Briggs Animal, I've never raced a 2-stroke can. Bonzai'd a hairpin on lap one and took out the #2 points guy. Rest assured - I felt dumber than I looked.
Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.
BTW - did anyone win a trip to Vegas?

No kidding Edgar...
I ran personal best lap times in the mid and low 16s and struggled to finish 7th in Thunderbike.
The target has moved!
Larry's time last year was an :09.8 something... And a :10.6 something on his 600. He did a 1:09.8 Sunday, but he pulled off...he has broken ribs.
Racing was very good. Struggled myself. Not feeling well now. Seem to have a pretty good cold. Voice was shot Saturday morning, and it's really bad now. Pass the NyQuil.
Blackhawk was incredible! The official entry count was 904 and more than 275 riders!!! Thank you everyone so much, I think this was the best race weekend I've ever had.
To Benji, PJ, Edgar, and Tire Guy: Thank you so much for Saturday. I've been feeling a little down about not being missed and being forgotten and you guys showed me the most fun I've had in a very long time. Thank you for showing me that even though I'm an old married lady with a baby doesn't mean I always have to act like one.
;D
P.S.--PJ and Benji: one word and it's on. ;)

Its no big deal Griff. ;D Just a little confused when the said over teh net about the new track record being 1:09.7. ;D
But has anyone given Doc any grief for trying to run in amateur thunderbike on sat? ;D
But from a cornerstation perspective, was fun watching the racing. Was in T1 on the radio saturday. Couple white line violations and one completely BONEHEADED white line violation when someone with a white plate came out and jumped to the outside of the track 30 or so feet past the tower ::), not gonna say the number but he did it again on sunday I heard. The white line rule isnt a hard concept to understand and I cant see how people forget that SIMPLE rule.
Sunday was in 7. Some dang good passes for the lead in 7. Couple bikes went down, but nothing serious.
Hey Tiff, 55 55 55
I won't forget and I am sure you won't this year!! ;D ;D

I wish I had a camera to take a picture of you in the Trihawk. People would pay to see that.
Your reactions were hilarious.
I hope you had fun, at least looking back at it.

yeah, but what if it happens outside of BlackHawk ;)
Tiffany,
I'm glad that you came out with us. You got to see
why we don't ever get any sleep.
Hey Russ! There are pictures, turns out our buddy Slider Photo got a few. It was so much fun, but I didn't realize that little car could go so fast! I'm sorry I kept hitting your arm. :-/ All I could think was "I have a newborn daughter, I have a newborn daughter." It was great fun, but I think I'll remain a spectator from now on. Those of you who didn't take a turn in that thing, you missed out!
Edgar: my threat to Benji and PJ goes for you too! ;D

ah yes rosno san ;D
Tiff - don't feel guilty. Just 'cause you're "grown up" doesn't mean you must stop having fun.
Besides, your hubby had his share too. Turned his hair Blue and "monkied" around on a blue Sidecar at Vegas. Did he really say .. "been there, done that .. don't want to do it again"? ::)
We're still feeling the affects...
Middle of the night last night, Stumpy sits up and says pretty loud...
Stumpy: "Benji stays up too late and uses up all the power!"
Me: "Benji?"
Stumpy: "Yes, Benji."
Me: "OK."
Nice to meet you in person, Tiff!
Heather
The last round was a complete blast...except the hung over part...jeez! Tiffany it was good to finally meet you and bury that mental image you had. To the rest of you I had a great year and owe it to many of you. See you next year!
