Title: What racers do on the weekend.
Post by: lbk on September 05, 2004, 07:13:13 AM
So yesterday we loaded up the dirt bikes and headed up to Bong rec area for a day of dirt riding.

Well as we're there, Brian Hall pulls up. Kind of funny went over talked to him for a bit.

Then we see Pierre roll up, go over and say hi to him.

So I guess we know now what MW racers do on the off weekends.  ;D

Bong? Errr....ya, thats in Wisconsin, right? I used to live there way back....
I know that this weekend I have spent the majority shopping, crutching my sorry arse around, doing puzzles, having a few captain and cokes....today watching all the racing on Speed! Ahh...the 250 race just started, gots to go! OH, and play Motogp!

I guess I get to help clean house today, I'm told.

I unloaded the bike.  Getting ready to work on it for the next Blackhawk.  Mods to the trailer, more to the bus.  Never ends.  Proposals for 2005's Super Dave's Race Against Childhood Cancer need to get out.

Maybe the kids will ride the little bikes in the back yard.

What racer's do on the weekend....

1.  Wish they were at the race track
2.  Paul's working on the dirt bike track on our 40 (he's redoing one of the corners to make it faster of course).
3.  Get the bike and motor home for the next racing weekend.
4.  Figure out how much $$$ and where it's going to come from for the next race weekend.
5.  Ride the dirt bikes so that you have that silly grin on your face for the day.
6.  Watch Speed Channel (six hours of racing today, it's going to be hard getting the house clean).
7.  Wish that you had your racing buddies here to watch the races with you.
8.  Paul and I.....   ;D

That's our weekend at the BFR.

Dawn   ;)

The team's Vice President of Beverage Transportation came over from Chicago for the weekend.  Brian and I loaded up the truck and trailer and took him dirtbike riding.  We had a blast.

We have to stay on his good side so that he comes to the Wegman weekend.    ;D

Dave,

you forgot about:

1.) curse because his bike won't kickstart.
2.) Dig people out of 5 feet of muddy water.
3.) Spend hours cleaning the dirtbikes
4.) Mow the lawn (wait, you have a service do that).
5.) Change oil in two vehicles.  That crap that came out of my car was nasty.
6.)  Get ready for another day of dirt riding.

I'll be checking out another place on Tuesday after work.  Heard abuot a place right by my employer.

repair fiberglass...run to Menard's for more...fiberglass...
where I also pick up those cheap chocolate covered peanut clusters and beef jerky to eat while I scratch my itchy arms and watch the races on Speed.
Then back to the garage to fiberglass some more...
Today I get to sand the fiberglass!

The elephants are restless tonight.  In the erie glow of my computer screen, I type quietly in my steaming tent, thinking of the world outside this stinking jungle.  Somewhere, children play beneath a bright blue sky.  I sit here, editing endless lines of text.
This is my dream.  This is my nightmare...

Ramblings of a lunatic.  I'm starting to feel like Willard (Martin Sheen) in Apocalypse Now.  Four straight days in this steaming hot office slaving over this damn manuscript!  It seems like the jungle is closing in.  Charlie!  Charlie is in the bushes!
 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! :o

This weekend?  Friday night after work I threw my leg over the LBB and headed out to Kansas City for a V-Rod rally.

Rode home Sunday with a helmet full of tissues (damn allergies) and today was spent at the Renaissance Faire in Bristol.

It took every waking moment of the last four days, but I accomplished the professional edit/rewrite on the novel.  Now I submit agian, and next comes the re-edit! :o
I'm starting to wonder why I ever wanted to write a book in the first place!

I'm going to bed.  Work tomorrow actually sounds like a nice change of pace.  At least I'll get to be outside...

Ah, what more did I do...

Well, some e-mails and a call...

Guy I know came over with his YZ400F Supermotard Street bike (cool).

He brought over some different triple clamps that he's giving me to put on my Kawasaki H1 project.  Before he arrived, I started going through my carbs for the bike because he wanted to know what I had for jets, needles, needle jets, the the carbs...

Ended up giving him three carbs (that's what they use... ;D) to borrow to see if maybe it was the bodies or something that were the problem.

That led me to start looking at more of the other things that I have for it and what I need to do to it.  Found my steering dampener (they come stock with them... :o), some rubber mounting things, rear spocket carrier, put the foam pads on the H2R seat cowl, and then started contemplating the stock wiring harness and what I was going to use for the race bike.

Funny thing is that I need, like two wires from it.  One to a kill switch and one to ground.  Everything else can go in the can...

Ah...air cooling, piston ports, carburetors...nice and easy... 8)

Went to Mike Roeser's wedding on Saturday.  Went out drinking Saturday night.  Spent Sunday recovering from Saturday on the couch watching SPEED channel... did a little pocketbike racing Sunday evening (in full leathers this time.)  Monday spent the day fixing my PC at home.

With all the racing I've been doing this year... it's kinda nice to have an easy, slow going weekend.

My racer skipped a mountain bike race, put his bike back together, helped our friends fill dirt in behind their massive retaining wall and drove a Kumatsu front-end loader through town to our house.

I drank wine and beer and read a book.   ;D

MzGirl...Had knee surgery 3 weeks ago...ACL, and meniscus...I still have another week before i can put any pressure on my left leg....not working either, they don't want me back until i can gimp around pretty good and not worry about me wiping out on my crutches...
The knee has needed the surgery for awhile now...hurt it 11 years ago jumping on a trampoline, minor tear in ACL, no surgery.. and then it was fine...then i guess being physically active for the  years, running, biking, hitting the weights hard, probably had something to add to it...or helped it from blowing out sooner...
Yes, unfortunately it looks like my racing season is over this year...but, if for some reason it heals quickly and feels stable and the doc releases me to get back to normal :) then i will throw a leg over the 125 and try a trackday and see how it feels...
I will race again next year..and hopefully make it out to Arroyo to race with ya in the Formula Femme class!

Well, hope it doesn't take too long to heal.  It sucks that you have to be off the bike, though.   :(  Hope you get off the crutches soon!

Yes, do come out to race the Femme.  It should be growing next year.  It was lots of fun (even with just 3 of us) this year.  Hopefully I can get some swag for giveaways in the class next year to make it even more fun.  That way, racers don't need to be in the top 3 trophy-winning placements to possibly get something.  Sort of a door-prize for the class.
