My name is David I am the one you T-boned in the hairpin at Barber. I am not wanting to chew your a$$ or anything, I was just wanting some answers. Yes, I am a bit pissed over the situation but I am not trying to start anything, like I said I just need some answers to help with my recovery.
I don't know if it was Mark that T-boned you or not.
I would be surprized if he was down at Barber.
But having a long record of being wrong, he rides a Red/Silver 600RR
Mark is a great guy, 18 and well focused on life for his age.
However... if it is him you are looking for, you will not find him on this board as far as I know.

David,
Hi this is Mark Schnettler. I am amateur 151. I am sorry if there is any confusion about what happened. In the middleweight gp race there were three people that were turning into the hairpin corner. One of them being me. I came into the corner in front of an expert I passed coming into the corner. Right when I was about to turn into the corner my rear tire got loose I was trail braking with my rear brake and slowly started to let go of the brakes and I was tossed off my bike to find myself in the grass with a green bike. I got up and got back on my bike and my brake lever was busted so I pushed my bike over to the fence and that was that. This is what happened and at the time I was very focused and under control.
You should then have "focused" on finding the guy that you knocked down and apologized! :(

For the record, I was in the corner as well but am not an expert. On another note, Mark is a good kid that is learning at a fast rate. I've raced with him all year and have not had any problems with his riding style.
by the look of the pictures you were on the bike when it smacked into the back of me. is that correct?
were you tring to follow behind me on the inside line, or were you one of the bikes i was passing in the corner?
by the look of the tire mark on my tail your bike was straight up and down when it hit mine. were you heading off the track or getting ready to drop it in?
you had said that someone bumped into you(elbowed you) thats why you hit me. you now say your rear was loose that is why you hit me.
it felt as though when the bike hit it was going alot faster than mine by the feel of the impact. i was all the way on the inside when i turned in so i could avoid this type of accident. i just am not understanding how this happened. i got on the bike and made the choice to race and these types of things do happen and i accept the responsibility for my choices but maybe its just me but i dont get it. i realize the accident maybe a little bit shady to you too, but any answers you can give me will help.
We are amatures for a reason...shit happens.
chuck, i have no doubt he is a good kid. i am trying to get answers. i like to be able to not put myself in bad positions and do it with out hesitation. thats how things like this happen. i am not trying to attack his integrety, i am trying to evaluate the situation in an educated way to see if i would do it again next time. there was a total of five of us in the braking zone and one mistake can cause a real ugly scene for everyone.
i realize you (chuck) think that i am an out of control racer, and if that is your opinion that is fine. i have never taken anyone out, and there are alot of people that have been in a corner with me when things got nasty and they will tell you i would rather lose a position than cause an altercation.
David,
I am just curious what pictures you are looking at??
I haven't seen any pictures yet of this weekend.

i am good freinds with the VHS photography people. they showed me the pics on sun. hell if it wasnt for them i would have had a real bad trip back to atlanta. tell you what, i dont deal with this message stuff. Mark, call me at 678-524-3960 David
Rubberducky- unless you have a video, you probably will never get the answers you want. Seems like you are asking how to avoid getting hit from behind, and you can't unless you are in last place. Also, since you are still gathering facts, go easy on Mark since this is a public forum. Good luck with your recovery!
This IS racing and things like this are gonna happen, AM or EX. We all know things like this are gonna happen, Who wants to crash? Obviosly it was a huge accident. If you are really worried about it, do track days, But it could happen there too.
My .10 cents
the tracks 45 feet wide !! You can take 2 or 3 lines through there easily !
Shit happens sometimes, I understand your trying to figure out why you crashed. But if its, you got hit, then you got hit ! Learn to go faster and you wont have to worry about getting hit !
Sometimes raceing is like 8 year olds play soccer ! You all stay in a group
Just currious what position were you guys in when you all went down ?
I came in a dismal 9th place, and they where working thier way around me I believe. :-/
ok, im going to be a little blunt here. i realize that crashes happen, for that matter, shit happens period! I am not trying to act like mark is a bad guy and thats why i would rather talk to him one on one. when others are allowed to get involved with the conversation thats when they turn to crap. im sure most people after they crash would like to talk to others involved.
as far as track days go i am not going to quit racing. racing is a part of my lifestyle, not a hobby. i try to respect others that race because for the most part we are all good people.
as far as "go faster and you wont get hit," i was passing everyone through that corner, i still got hit. its racing, even top guys crash each other out. i was turning some of the faster am 600 times so that really doesnt apply.
as far as placing, i had the front runners in sight and was gaining. does that matter, not really.
i dont want mark or myself to get a black eye from this, i just want to talk to him about what happened.
and yes crashing happens, gathering facts and being more educated CAN help prevent similar occurances.
i am sorry if all of you want to interprit this in a manner that it is not meant.
Whatever happened to the common courtesy of apologizing to the rider you ran into? You don't have to be an expert to do that. Accidents happen, but apologizing for causing it makes it a little easier to take for the riders that you took out! >:(

hey hdpromos, just to let you know, he said he was sorry right after it happened when he had told me someone elbowed him into me. i told him "thats racing, and i was allright" frankly i am not going to dwell on it any longer, from the people and pics i can see what happened. besides, seems like most of these guys want to get something started, or say that i am an out of control racer so i will take my butt back to wera.
Well then, he did the right thing. Don't let someone else make anymore out of it. These things happen and it's not limited to CCS or WERA.
