I would think that on a given weekend, the same configuration would have to be used. Imagine the confusion to those riders running in more than one class.
The British Superbike Series visits Donnington Park twice in a season. One time they use the current configuration, and the second time they use the old course the way it was before it was homologated for GP's. (BTW, Duke Video is once again selling BSB Season Review on CD's. Best racing you'll ever see!)
FUSA could do the same with Daytona, I'm sure!

I'm sure it will be the only course Daytona allows everyone to run. I'm sure it is done with Safety being the main reason they changed it

Not so sure about the safety factor.
Going in to the old turn 6 section and the new turn on to the backstretch could result in some wall contact if you run wide or lose the front there.
I would be very surprised that you would lose the front there , I'm sure there would be air fence there.
Back in Oct. 84 or so, there was construction going on.
It was 3.87 miles.
Could not use the East Banking, can't remember exactly why. We, {CCS} Gridded on the Straight before the International Horeshoe, AMA SuperBikes used this Grid also a couple of times. it was to reduce the Mayhem that was turn 1, starting from Pit Road?
Horseshoe was turn 1, through the Dog Leg and turned left through the gate in the fence, up on the Banking in Nascar 2, going clockwise or backwards towards Nascar 1. kinda strange.
Coming off the Bank, where we now go up on it, {7} then going through some cones on new asphalt and back on that straight. and that was a lap. It was a big suprise to find out this configuration upon arrival, but it was fun, and glad to have run Daytona backwards, Thanks Roger.
Lots of History going with these new changes, but it looks like less stress on tires, and racer input should help.
Feeling older now.
I bet the change came in part due to the new semi tunnel under NASCAR T1. That probably drove the need some new infield changes.
They have a website up detailing all of the proposed changes....with pictures. They have basically level almost every single building on the infield. (I think the latest couple of building survived...but that's about it.)

Check out the weekly pictures on the right side. That have torn out a section of T1 already. And the line for the tunnel has been started. Unfortunately right now it looks more like they are trying to dredge a channel to get boats into the infield lake!!!
I'm thinking the 2 storms are gonna cause major problems getting this renovation done on time.
In 1994, I did my first AHRMA race. I raced CCS races immediately before and AMA races immediately after on the traditional course.
For AHRMA, we used a different course. We used the kink, then turned left before the West Horseshoe and then on to the oval. Pavement was kind of Cr@p, but that was then.
The story was that the AMA didn't want Andrew Stroud setting the outright motorcycle lap record on the Britten during an AHRMA event. It did have some merit.
I would assume that potentially we'd use the same course all around.
Seems like a fair layout. Trick might be hitting the fence/wall/barrier at the new left before the new horseshoe...but there is air fence...
