Title: I miss Dan :'(
Post by: Burt Munro on August 05, 2004, 03:38:02 PM
Edgar and I looked around all weekend at Gingerman and never found Dan.  And now I see that he hasn't posted anything since July 31st.

Is he sick?   On a secret mission to Kuala Lumpur?

God I hope nothing has happened to him!!

Hah! Funny one Rick...

Actually, I have seen his name in the "logged in"  list lurking around, it's just that he is not posting. We must have scared him quite a bit, like I mentioned on the other post. It just sucks not to have anyone to really pick on. K3 is not around much, and Casper is nowhere to be seen!

Sigh...

Mark,

We can't pick on you!  You ACTUALLY SHOW UP at race tracks!   Besides, didn't they make you sign an agreement when you bought the Buell that you understood that it came with a self-abuse clause??!!
 ;D ;D

Edgar,

Don't know if you saw the other post I put up.....
Thanks for the help with the tires.  Please thank Tom for me too.  I ended up staying at Mitch's until Monday afternoon waiting out a big storm.  Nice to have a bike that actually turns in like it should again!

I've had a BAD week  :(  First, an incident with the wife, thus no Gingerman.  Ended up having to buy her a new car  >:(  Then, a bunch of crap at work since Monday, then power went out for a couple of days due to storms, the damn pool is leaking in the back yard, and I'm waiting for it to blow up and dump 8000 gallons on my neighbors house so his basement can flood and he can sue me. Then today, the wife ran over a dog house or something (yeah, a dog house, don't ask me how) that was in the middle of the e-way, and ended up with so many nails in the tires of the new car, they couldn't even be repaired, so I just spent $900.00 on tires for a brand new car that has 62 miles on the ODO. And... I'm using my cell phone to connect online cause I think the storm blew up my T1 box cause it don't work.

Thanks for caring though ladies  :-*

You think you had it bad! Our RV popped out of gear ran into the highway which caused a 19 1/2 car pile up, My dog had puppies for the 4th time this week, one had 3 heads so I had to call the guiness book of world records, While they were on there way here there flight got delayed cause of the huricane that went through, I drove to the airport in a car that was filled with diesel gas, So that gummed up my brand new Audi A8. Then a pack of wolfs surrounded me, ate my clothes off! And then I got thrown in jail for indecent exposure!!!! I wont even get into the jail story :-X ;D ;D Sorry had to. I felt threatened in the best bs'er category! Never Ever challenge me ;) :-*

I swear on the kids DVD player* in the Yuppie wagon.   The wife ran over a dog house or parts of it that was in the middle on I-696.  I just got the damn car.  Had to buy 4 new tires.  One of the tires literally had 19 nails in it.

*The kid now goes into hissy fits if the DVD player isnt playing Stawberry Shortcake.

Don't you hate when that happens?!

You think you had it bad?  I had to fly in my G5 home from Gingerman!  The darn custom appointed 757 was in for an avionics update.  My God!  I think that dropped it down to a 99.1% availability level for the year!!  If Boeing can't do better than that I'm going to have to seriously consider going with the Airbus 330 next year!

Whooa, I leave for 10 minutes and this thread gets out of control...

Hey Rick, No problem with the tires. I'll pass the thanks on to Tommy.

The real story here was that on the way home with Tommy Mason, an alien space ship kidnapped us and they made us put up a dog house in the middle of some freeway. I am not sure why, but I swear it's the truth...

Hey Dan, if you had an incident with the wife, how do you explain the lurking without posting? Don't tell me...it's hard to post when you are typing with the keyboard on your phone?  ;D ;D

Like Stumpy has noted, you can't bullsh1t a bullsh1ter!!

Yes I can!  So far this year I've seen (and worked the weekend at) 2 Topeka dates, Road America, Gateway, MAM, July Blackhawk and Gingerman.

Planning on doing the next 2 Blackhawk's and Gingerman and possibly doing Barber and the ROC.

And during that same time you've made it to what?
One 6 hr Enduro at Grattan? (which by the way if you do another one you may want to bring more than 10 gal. of fuel!)

Yeah, I'm an old fart!  But I'm an old fart who shows up at tracks because he enjoys helping out so you guys can race and being around some friends I've made.

I think I'd rather be that kind of an old fart than a young smart ass who seems to talk nothing but B.S. and thinks that if he throws enough money at it he'll be fast!

Get a clue Dan - take some of that money you've spent on bikes and put it into some schools and track time where you might actually LEARN how to RIDE fast instead of just talking fast!

I would really like to meet you some time.  But I guess that would involve you actually showing up at a track!!

Once the browser retrieves the page and 20 minutes go by, the session ends. It does not refresh anything or send any more information to the website. Damn Rick, relax, I was just messin' wit cha...

Unfortunately, this year I couldn't make it to the race track as much as I use to.  Last year, all I did is go to the track.  Every weekend and every Monday.  This year, I have too much to do at work that I have to be there for.  Chances are, if you went to Gingerman or Grattan last year at all, I was there.  But this year, I don't have the time.  I wish I did.   :'(

As far as the T1 box (router, ect.) I think it blew up from a surge.  The power supply isn't even powering up.  I'm waiting on SBC to send me a new one.  Dunno what happened.  Power went out, and it hasn't powered up since.  I should've plugged it into a surge protector  >:(

I don't throw money at bikes trying to get "faster."   ???   I throw money at bikes cause I like decking them out.  I'm one of those people that can't leave anything alone. It has absolutely nothing to do with making the bike faster or "better." I gotta make it the way I like it, that's really the only reason.

I seriously doubt you would have met Rick last year Dan.  Aside from the one Fasttrax school and race w/e you did last year, all your time was STT track days.

Don't get me wrong, track days are great and Monte & Bonnie run great events.  However, Rick was at races at the track.  You wouldn't have met him.

Will we see you at Gingerman on 10/9-10 Dan?

BTW, Rick, that was you at pit out, eh?  Thanks for what you do for us.  You don't know me and probably won't connect a face with my name but I chatted with you a little bit in the head on Sunday morning.  We exited as the national anthem was being sung.

Actually, I was at the CCS Round last year at Gingerman, but I didn't race.  I watched.  I did a track day the day after the races.  I was also at last years Grattan rounds for WERA, but again I didn't race.   I was also at the WERA GNF last year.  I cornerworked all the days of the GNF.

As far as what rounds I'll be at, I'd love to say yes, but it will be hard to tell until the last minute.   Everything is packed, and as long as I can leave for a few days without all hell breaking loose at work, I'll be there.  Last weekend, the wife decided to see what happens when a Honda Civic meets the rear bumper of an F250  >:(  So, I had to buy a new car, and now I can't get my car when I turn my truck in, in Nov.

Damnit, I wanted a 300C and now I got a damn Pacifica  >:(

QuoteLast weekend, the wife decided to see what happens when a Honda Civic meets the rear bumper of an F250

Seriously, I'm not sure how to take you on this Dan.  I'm thankful that your wife and child are okay.  But they were in a accident bad enough to have a modern Civic (approx. 2,500 lbs) totaled, eyt they're okay and driving a new Pacifica in the next couple days ???

On thop of that, the very next week, she has the frightening experience of plowing over some large object on 696 (where the minimum speed is around 65) and getting all 4 tires shot out?

Dan, push away from the keyboard and put your attention where it should be.  Go comfort your wife.  I'm surprised she isn't afraid to drive and doesn't ask you to chauffer her around for a while.

The views expressed are just my own.

First of all...  Dan.. What you had aint a bad day. Now I had a bad day!  I finally took delivery of my Ferrarri 360 Modena and it didn't come with the Louis Vuitton interior like I custom ordered!  >:( And if to add insult to injury, there's not enough room in my 6 car garage to fit the new Ferrari so I had to drive it to my shop and park it next to my Mercedes S55! Can you believe the crap I have to go thru? Oh and if that wasn't enough... I ran into Suge Knight at the airport and I had to whoop his ass cuz he got loud with me.

Well, she's alright and so is the baby.  The Civic isn't totaled, but I'm a firm believer that once a car has been in an accident, it's worthless. It's hit pretty good though, and I think insurance will total it out, but it is fixable.  So, I leased her a new Pacifica with all the bells and whistles on Tuesday, and then last night she ran over parts of the dog house or whatever.  She didn't actually hit the dog house, but she ran over every single nail that was in it so it seems. The tires didn't blow up on 696, but when she got home and parked the car, an hour later all the tires were flat. So, I blew them up, went over to Belle Tire, and then they looked at the tires and said I need 4 new ones cause they can't put that many patches/plugs or whatever in the tires.  Too many holes.  One of the tires had 19 nails in in.  ???  Anyways, been a rough week.  Thanks for the concern thoughy  :)

Yeah, one or two.  I only bet once on here before, and I lost that one to H-Man by 1 SECOND  >:(

The current bet with the Reverend is:

Biaggi is gonna win the MotoGP championship.

I gave him a 20 point advance, and I say Rossi will win it.  So, he has a 20 point handicap on Biaggi winning the GP championship.

 ;D  and he's still gonna lose...  ;)

I highly doubt that Biaggi is even capable of finishing the rest of the season without crashing out.  If Biaggi crashes out of a single race, and Rossi finishes that race in the top 3, the Reverend should just pull out his check book and send in the donation to Super Dave cause there's no way in hell Biaggi could make up for the points.  Rossi is god  ;D

Why don't you fax your time sheets to me.  The sheets for the entire race.  I'll check who ran which laps.  Ping or IM me and I'll give you a fax # to send the sheets.

1:30:05 was my fastest time.  You said sub-1:30's and I said I'd run a 1:28 or so.   Damnit, if it wasn't for the water in 1 and 5, I woulda done it too  >:(

Oh well, to late, I lost, and I paid.  I'm not worried about it.  Time sheets, where do you get those from  ???  I didn't get nothin...

I'm not becoming a cheerleader for you, but you don't need to defend yourself at every turn.  Ride for yourself, not for anyone else.

My bad, Dan did run some laps in the 6 hour WERA race on 7/17 not the 3 hour Fasttrax endurance on 7/24.

I still don't believe you turned that time at Grattan.  But oh well, if you were safe and had fun, then who cares really what your lap times were?

BTW, I think some of the info in your IMs is more BS.

Hey Dan, if the times are at mylap.com, then you can access your individual/team times, print those and fax 'em to me.

Comp #665     Team Name: Section 8 Superbike     Laps completed: 115   Total time:  5:18:54.654
Laps behind leader:  --132 Laps--
Fast lap time:  1:30.055   in lap #113
Fast lap avg speed: 79.951

Still can't quite figure out how Dan thinks he turned the 1:30.055 when he admits that his partner is several seconds faster than him.

Oh well, if I had to live in Dan's mind I'd probably get confused too!!  It must be a VERY interesting place!

So, you teamed up with Ryan and rode his 749, eh?  Given the reports from you previoulsy and others who were there, your team did about 4 of the 6 hours with Ryan doing the lion's share of the 117 laps you guys were credited.

Not bad either way.

You gonna be a spectator or cornerworker at Grattan later this month.

You're partially correct Dawn (or SD is).

a.  Dan lost the bet and that's why he paid.  Luckily he anted up before the race ;)

b.  I'm a friend of SD's not Dan's.  I don't really know the guy other than by reputation and one brief meeting.

But hey Dan, I'd consider being among your friends.  But not by the personality you display in these forums.  You've noted that you're a different person face to face.  Well, I don't accept that.  Unless you're suffering from multiple personality disorder, you can't let your method of communication be an excuse for your behavior.  Can you imagine someone telling you "I may be a jerk on the phone, but I'm really a considerate and great person face to face"?

Anyway, I'm not looking to start a "pile on Dan" session here.

Peace,
  H.
