Title: First Generation SV oil block off plate?
Post by: grasshopper on August 03, 2004, 07:32:49 AM
Can someone give me some information about what this modification does? I heard there was a recall on certain first genteration SV650 motors where it requires an oil block off plate.

Thanks,

Nick

It's an issue that occurs when you do too long of a wheelie and makes the oil pump run dry. It stops the oil from sloshing backwards which in turn lets the oil pickup run out of oil.

Cool, I definitely need that then  ;D

I also just found out that it help when under hard braking as well. The motor can get starved of oil either way.

Thanks!

If you own a first generation SV and race it or ride as hard as I do you should definitely read this.  ;)
