Why does everyone bitch about MM. I wish there were more guys like him.
Atleast he's realistic. Hell, even Edwards would hand him his ass in GP. He'd definetly be fighting for 10th every round. The only thing I find kind of amusing is that he said that he didn't want to race against Rossi. Like he had a chance in hell in the first place ::) His #1 plate here makes absolutely no difference over there. Edwards learned that the hard way and he did WSBK.
Take that all you "armchair racers." ;D

Atleast I'm on the podium. The lazyboy rocks ;D :P
I wanna race my Lazyboy ??? :D
I personally like the guy, he says it how it is and doesn't really hold back. I especially like the statement about him wanting to "stick a screwdriver in his eye" before running 10th in GP! ;D
I really respect him for being willing to sacrafice a championship that obviously means a lot to him for standing up for the safety.
This whole read was good, but I still question where this is coming from. Ever since the Aaron Yates incident, Matt's attitude has changed his whole image, interviews, persona and all. Maybe he just changed but seeing how it was just this year somehow in the back of my mind I still think it's all just an image Suzuki has asked him to step up and create, to help with their image. Who knows, unless someone here is friends with him and can shed some truly personal light on the subject. LOL
that was an awesome article...
i like him more now for that as well.....
and good to see he thinks about saftey ., unlike a few others.....
Any thoughts on gearing for my Lazyboy at Barber? I might attach a side car.

do you have the electric or manual recline ?? makes a big difference...... and sidecars ?? i was thinking a coffee table of TV tray maybe ??
Well..I had thought about the coffee table, but I thought the side car could hold the cooler better!
People crack me up who want to bash Mladin. I can tell you from being passed by him countless times in 2 years, I still think he's the most talented rider out there in the AMA. He truly is amazing to watch on a motorcycle up close and personal.
He's getting paid a lot of money to go win championships and he knows what makes himself tick. Mat is who is who he is.
Let me ask you this, If you had the choice of getting paid 100K to go around and hang out and socialize at an AMA event or be focused and dedicate yourself to your profession and make a million a year which would you choose?
Mladin is very smart, he knows he can't race forever and is making the most of it while he is here. He's setup his own import import business and other things so when he retires he and his family are taken care of for life and he'll still be in his 30's.
Can't fault a guy for that just because he doesn't socialize as much a people want him to.

You know, even if Suzuki has "asked" him to change his "image" to help Suzuki, don't you think that's a good thing? As Kevin said, he's not a stupid, silly boy, but a business man looking out for his future. That said, are you the same guy as you were 5 years ago? 10? No, and you probably wouldn't want to be.
It always amazes me when people comment about someone else "they've changed, they're not the same person". (it doesn't seem to matter whether the change is good or bad) Of course, because even "you" are not the same person you were 5 minutes ago. You can't be. Life forces change. You first born says their first word, you crash in turn 7 at BHF, your lose a loved one, you have an amazing meal at a restaurant. Each experience, no matter how trivial or important will affect each one of us.
So, if Matt has changed, only he will know why, if he's perceptive enough. Of course, we might only be "perceiving" what we want to perceive.
Hmmmmm..... ;)
Hey if Mat has changed because of his own reasons then more credit to him. I'm saying that the change seemed to come about right after the Yates incident.
I don't know Mat, I don't think most of us here do and even those that do don't probably know him well enough to comment on what he feels.
My statement is nothing more than my opinion, based on what I know of Mat, which is NOTHING more than what I get to see from his interviews, and his articles that he writes. I always give anyone and everyone the benefit of the doubt, but as a racing fan no I haven't been a Mladin fan just like I'm not a Biaggi fan. Others are and that's for their reasons. Again my comment is nothing more than a spectator's view because I have not ever met the guy and probably never will at least not to the point where he's going to open his sould to me.
As far which would I rather do? Personally I'd rather make the 100k and socialize but that's me, I can see why and how he would want to make his career the most it can be as a profession that's respectable too. But as fans we all get to pick our favorite riders and have our own reasons for chosing them, that's the great part about a sport that brings a variety of different perspectives together. ;)
I don't think anyone is doubting Matt's skill as a rider, as fans the only way we get to develop a glimps of what a pro rider is like, is through what he says in interviews an press releases. He couldn't even say that ROSSI, Valintino freakin ROSSI is a better rider than he is! If he was only a few pounds lighter. Come on, everyone in moto gp is a few pounds lighter and Rossi is still the man! Allan Iverson is a great B-ball player but do ya like the guy? ???
