Title: RRR Observations
Post by: wvracer97 on July 27, 2004, 06:45:27 AM
This is going to be a mixed bag of emotions... but here it goes!

1)  Hats off to all of the Amateur competitors in the GTO/ GTU races-- every single one of you raced with class and nobody made any hairball moves.  It was 16 laps of awesome racing for both classes and I'd race with the same set of guys up front any day.  Thanks guys :D

2)  To CCS-- I appreciate your attention to some lost entries, and they were finally worked out the way they should have been.  Thanks for making it right for a good friend of mine.  On a different note, I was appaled at the way CCS handled the raving antics from the RRR staff.  You guys are there to insure we get what we came for... safe worry free racing and adequate facilities to ensure that.  The RRR staff had you guys running all over the place that weekend yelling at us.  Honestly, no one was that out of control with the pit bike thing or anything else for that matter, and you guys should have stuck up for us.  Period.

3)  To RRR.  You people are the most rude and un-professional people I have ever met.  I can't believe anyone actually goes to your track on a seasonal basis.  To have EVERY person associated with your operation yell first and bark at people the way they do is unacceptable.  If someone were out of line, the adult thing to do would be to request that it not be done again in a civil tone.  That was not done once the entire weekend, and I must have checked with a dozen racers.  Now, if the same person were to be a repeat offender I would be more understanding of a stiffer tone.  BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE!  I believe we were lucky that no one from RRR was punched out for the way I saw them chew people out.  It was ridiculous and it ruined a lot of peoples first time there.  I also believe that it will be the last time there for ALOT of people also.  You should be boycotted by all racing organizations >:(  So much for Southern hospitality.

4)  I look forward to seeing everyone from CCS at Barber, where I'm sure they have a world class operation.

Very well said Scott... ;D

Those people were way off base in every aspect in the treatment of HUMAN beings...

Thanks for letting me follow you out there in Practice, I learned a few things that helped mr get into the 23's sunday...Like I said after the red flag I don't have a problem being bar to bar out there with people that are smooth and use their head when passing... ;) I seen you coming in my periferal... ;D

Wow, I missed all that action.

They had crossed out my Sun races on my pre-entry for some reason, but they put me back on them, & in the correct grid position, with no problems.

I thought the weekend went ok, and didn't even notice all the fuss you guys are talking about.

;Dcan't really comment on any bad treatment , but I know the bumpkins from Tennessee who were pitted next to me were a real pain with their pit bike that were as loud as race bikes, runniing engines at 715 in the morning, drinking beer all day, could have had something to do with it. I have always had good experiences with RRR staff. just my two cents

Mike the weekend did go great, well except for working my way up to 2nd in the unlimited gp only to be dq'd for no transponder(my bad). But they are alittle tighter than most tracks, but most of the people that are whining are probably the ones that got in trouble. But in defense of you guys that got in trouble or caused it, nothing would have ever been said at vir or barber or or or......

Well, I didn't get in trouble for anything at RRR this past weekend.  But I've said it once and will say it again, the RRR staff are total assholes.  That is my first hand observation.  And damn...can that lady at the front gate BE any more of a bitch?  I swear, she's on permanent PMS or something.

I did have a great time this weekend though, and the CCS staff did a great job.

As for Barber, it's going to be half and half.  There, you've got tons of staff compared to RRR.  Some of them are nice, some of them aren't.  BUT...MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR WOOD SQUARES!  If you haven't been there before, you'll soon understand.  LOL

unfortunately, it only takes one dumbass to ruin it for everyone.  i.e. some guy on a hybrid suzuki/honda xr100-dirt-streetbike doing stoppies every chance he got in front of my canopy.  as if we haven't seen enough starboyz videos. time and place for everything guys, use your head.

Personally I've never had any problems with the track management there.  But I do want to say that Kay's (one of the track managers) brother has been living with them forever.  He's been very sick the past year and a half or so and he passed away this morning.  So if they seemed more out of sorts than normal, try and understand what they've been going through.

Hey Scott, did steve #232 crash at roebling??  I'm having a hard time getting a hold of him.  Do you know of anything that happened??

Hi Sam-- Steve had a good and safe weekend... not to mention he did it in style with his brand new tour bus setup :o
You probably couldn't get a hold of him 'cause he's still on vacation in SC.  He should be back in a few!

Danny (#201) is the one that crashed out in magnificent fashion.  We even got it on tape ;D  As we watched him lowside in T9 his bike started cartwheeling in the air about 20ft up as he slid behind it.  Whew, he's perfectly OK though.  AND we got it fixed, back through tech, AND he still got wood on that damn hooptie ;D  I hate Yamahas ;)

Good call Scott, the great group of guys I was with
(Adrian, Andy and Stas) are all of the same opinion, we want to petition CCS NOT to include Roebling in the Mid Atlantic series for 2005. First off when since is Georgia in the MidAtlantic?? I know Barber isn't either, but hey if you going to make a long haul at least it i for a great track/facility. There are tracks in Pa (Beaver Run) that CCS should be looking at for the Mid Atlantic Region. Also let's get this Summit Point problem fixed for 2005, we all want back on the main course dont we??? Roebling Road the track layout/design is good, I would say mini-MototGP style, longer, tight, sweeping turns, which is a good change, but the almost non-existent runoff in turns 1 and 4 thru 7, lousy sealer everywhere so when the track get hot or wet there is only one safe line that is a joke. But hats off to you Scott, you ran good out there, while I took the conservative approach not wanting to pitch it away trying to go at a  fast pace in my first time at RRR. Besides with the lack of turnout from MidAtlantic Racers, I still walked away with good points many will have trouble getting back at Barber ;D. Look forward to seeing you on the grid at VIR, where we can mix it up.

I agree, If they're going to do roebling, why not Road Atlanta or Carolina Motorsports Park?   Those are both great facilities that have been on the CCS schedule before in the past.  I definitely had no interest going to roebling, looked boring but now, i'm convienced it would be a waste of time.

Bastard Steve, I was worried that he got hurt because i haven't heard a word from him.  Hey Scott, you doing the TPM track day at VIR on August 2nd???

RA and CMP raised there rental rates...that is why they were dropped from CCS.  I heard this a VIR from the CCS officals.

I'd rather run at little T myself....even if I run pretty good at RRR.

I don't think Tally would be good, just because of its size.  Tally is a go-cart track, and having any more than 10 people on a grid there just scares me!

Sam--  We can't make it for the VIR track day on the 2nd... heck, I'm still reeling from the costs of going down to RRR ;D

We will be showing up at Barber on Wednesday the 11th and staying through the weekend-- let's all pit together and have a great time! ;)

Barber sounds like fun!!!  unfortunately I won't be doing it.  I signed up for the Kevin Schwantz school during Sept. 6 & 7th.  And that was plenty expensive. I can't afford to do barber.  Plus I start school August 16th and won't make it home in time from Barber to get to class.  Thanks for the offer.  I'll just sit at home, be bored as ever.  you bastards suck!!!   You got to tell me how you like barber though.  And if you aren't careful, i'll run you out at turn 7 at VIR come end of september again ;)
