Does CCS require newbies to wear a contracting colour vest or t-shirt over our leathers the first time out?
Sort of a warning to the other racers. Kinda like a "student driver" sign I suppose :D
Then again, maybe it's a good idea whether it's required or not. What say you more experienced racers?
H-man
Rick from Learning Curves recommends that they wear their shirt they get after passing the school over their leathers. But there is no rule requiring it.
Thanks Rob.
Any other comments? I don't want to look like a bozo being the only one with a shirt over my leathers. Then again, this late into the season, I probably would/will be the only one with a shirt over my leathers anyway ::)
Well, let's just say I want to follow the norm on this.
I wore a "hunters orange" color T over my leathers my first 2 weekends. It did actually provide a little bit of a comfort factor. Everyone knows your a newbie then, and most give you a little more room to work with during a race. I'd say wear it. I would. Hell, I'd wear it all season if I could find the damn thing :P
Believe me you don't look like a bozo wearing your shirt over your leathers! Everyone has to start somewhere and everyone was supposed to do the same thing when they were new. I think if anything it gives the fast guys (that will most likely be lapping you) warning that you may be startled when passed or may run lines that are unpredictable or unexpected, I think it really helps to keep both racers safer. Also the experienced racers will usually give you extra room if they see that your wearing a shirt.
As far as you being the only one wearing a 'shirt', I highly doubt it. I took my school late in the season in '95 at the last BFR event with quite a few other people who went on to race that same weekend wearing their Learning Curves graduation shirts. I personally didn't race my 1st race till the next season ('96) but I still wore my shirt over my leathers at that time. In case you don't know, your school graduation certificate is good toward getting your race license for 12 months from the time you take your school. :)
I'm grateful for the feedback :) Thanks.
I'll waer a hi-viz, contracting vest or t-shirt this w/e.
H.
wear the shirt., it may feel dorky ., but it is not., it is much safer for you and the other riders.. as they know you are new, and will pass with more room,, it would suck for a new person to be stuffed in a turn and stand the bike up and crash himself and/or someone else out because they did not want to LOOK new... hahahah and then get discouraged and not want to race anylonger...
nothing said above was meant to sound mean ., we need more people in this sport., and if wearing a T-shirt for a weekend is bad...???
good luck... and have fun [ being broke ] lol
Hey H.
I could put a bright orange "slow moving vehicle" symbol on your leathers. :o
Just kidding. Should be shipping today! :D
QuoteI could put a bright orange "slow moving vehicle" symbol on your leathers. Ê

LOL Uhh... thanks Alexa. I think. ;) ;D
Actually when I was joking around with a"friend" about racing and we talked about a name and symbol, he suggested the same orange triangle you did. Along with the name "Back Marker Racing".

I may be slow, but I'll be stylin' out there 8)
Okay Jack, it'll be up to you to work some magic with the camera for me ::) Presuming you'll be at Gingerman this w/e.
H-man
I was going to have the orange triangle on my bike while I was at Daytona.... :P (MZ)..... ;)

Hey now Alexa, I did that first. ;D I had a slow moving vehicle traingle sticker on the back of my bike. ;D
Blaze orange.... Hmmm.... Might not be a good idea with many new racers not fully understanding the ill-effects of target fixation 8) :-/
QuoteI want it. Do mine ;D
Send 'em in and it's as good as done. ;D I also have the reflective tape that would border it. ;)
Talk about stylin'!

What the heck is a "traingle"? :o ;D
Can you do it at Gingerman? ;D
QuoteWhat the heck is a "traingle"? :o ;D
Thats those 2 tone orange triangles on the back of farm tractors and combines.:D:D
But I reckon y'all big city folk don git to see dat. ;D

Can who do what at Gingerman?
You've got to use the quote codes.
Anyhow, I don't travel with my machine, as it weighs more than a bike and doesn't have wheels. ;D ;D ;D

Just razzin' ya about your spelling. :P Triangles, quadrangles, trapazoids. Us city folk know all the angles. ;)

Didnt even notice I spelled it like that. ;D
THen again, I like to give my niece a hard time with spelling. I keep telling her the correct way to spell colour is with the 'u' and not the American color. ;D
I like torturing her that way. ;D
And it's "catalogue" ;) ;D

:-X Uhhh... Dan, are you asking something having to do with bringing your new bride with you to the track? :o :-[ ;)
H.
Nah, she doesn't come to the track. My daughter doesn't sit still long enough, plus she doesn't like see the red flags come out. Makes her worry.
Dan, why are you still up? :)
Alexa, speaking of (or writing about) ribbing for missed spelling errors, how's this one I recently received:
"Hi H., I shipped your leathers today....Tour total came to ..." :-X ;D
H-man
QuoteDan, why are you still up? :)
Cause I got 12 enginerds at General Malfunction trying to figure out how to get funding to buy a roll of solder ::) and cause I got stacks of paperwork I gotta finish filling out for the FCC on this new product we're gonna launch. And cause I gotta finish downloading all of this weeks new porn :-X And cause I gotta figure out which bike I'm gonna race this weekend... and....
;D ;D
How about you H? I thought you old folk go to bed at 9:00 :-X
;D ;D ;D
What's up with this damned BBS? It repeatedly requires me to log in when I to to post >:( This is quite annoying!!
I need to get to bed earlier. Ever since I got hooked on anime a few years ago, I keep staying up. Even if I'm not watching.
Tonight I'm doing some extra prep for an interview tomorrow.
Job interview ??? If so, what field you in ???
You just ducked that "old folk" comment huh.. ;D
Dan, got any bikes (or have access to any) that'll qualify for Thunderbike?
Could be kinda fun dicing out there together.
If not, then I suppose we'll be at the track together if you're planning to be at STT's track fest at Gingerman 7/20 - 22, eh?
H.

Health care management.
With age comes wisdom. Jerk! I'd probably write something else but the board edited "damn" so I can only imagine what it would do if I wrote A-hole :)
Besides, I want to drink your beer this w/e ;D
Thunderbike... hmmm..... Stock GSXR750 qualify ??? I'm sure I can come up with something. I'd love to dice it out with ya. 8)

Thuderbike. Wait, shouldn't you be in Formula 50 or something ???
*He shoots, and he scores* ;D
Does CCS give a AARP discount ???
*Again, Dan nails one from the 3 point line* ;D
Given some of the crap I've been through, I'm glad I'm still around. But keep on talkin'. You'll swiftly learn what a older - not old - guy can do. Screw that bell, we're havin' fun!

Alright, I'm in for Thunderbike. You going to Fri. practice? You should, I'm gonna, just cause I haven't been there in a year. Might go Thurs. too. Make a 4 day weekend out of it. Plus, there's a few decent bars out there. 8)
I won't be at the Friday practice. I'll arrive some time Friday evening.
Unless it's a nightclub or jazz club, I'm not one for just sitting at a bar. Bench racing at a bar another story, but I doubt I'll head to a bar to do that this w/e.
What do you have that'll qualify for TB? I thought you have a new R6, GXX-R 750 and a Mille? Non of them fit the class.

I'm gonna borrow my brothers stock F2.
Cool if it happens.
So, are you gonna be at the STT Gingerman dates in August & October?
I have no clue about future track days. All depends on work. :-/
