Slightly off topic...well, consider this a threadjack ;D

How'd ya do today Dan?  First race (sprint race) of the season and all.

Did you achieve your goals?  Did you have beer enough for everyone in the paddock as you promised?

Still planning to be at Gingerman this coming w/e?

I didn't make it to Grattan this weekend.  Had some work issues arise that  I had to deal with.  I will definetly be at Gingerman next weekend though.

That's unfortunate.

Well, you be in the same boat as me.  I've been to some tracks this year but not Gingerman.  Haven't been there in nearly a year

See you there.

I haven't been to Gingerman this year either, so I'm going down for Fri. practice, but since I spent alot of time there last year, it should come back pretty quick.   Let me know if you need any help or anything.  We'll have all the tools, ect.

Back to the original topic...

I don't know, but I think that whole "GO!!!!!!!!!!!!" marketing Yamaha-Gauloises thing sucks. Don't you think that the "marketing experts" could have come up with something a little better? Even the bike design sucks. It's nothing more than a blue bike with a bunch of exclamation marks all over it...I mean, C'mon! You are paying Rossi somewhere between 14-20 million dollars and you can't find a better marketing person?

It makes little to no sense to us, but we're not their market.  I believe that Altadis (the parent company for Gauloises & Fortuna) have the bike colours and graphics to match the ads in the their product is most heavily sold.

The red and "No. 1" of Fortuna in Spain and the (and I admit it's always seemed weird to me too) "Go!!!!!!!" and blue of Gauloises in France.

Didn't they have to use "GO !!!!" because they are a cigarette manufacturer or something and that was unacceptable in some countries or something  ???

Kinda, Sorta.

Just like Marlboro on the Ducatis and Camel on Biaggi and Tomata's bikes.  Some countries like Brazil & S. Africa allow the tobacco companies to advertise.

Other places don't allow the name of a tobacco company, so they just use the familiar graphics (ala the Ducatis), put the rider's name in place of the product (ala Camel and Biaggi) or go the way you suggest with comething that doesn't have the product or manufacturer's name at all.
