First of all Bernard I'm sorry you had bike problems I know it gave me a chance to catch up in points, but really I'm sorry man. ;D Can't wait to continue the saga at Gingerman.
Ike, I know you still owe me one man and trust me I know you'll get me back too. LOL Really though we forget peoples names all the time so don't feel bad. Oh and thanks for the shrimp those were GOOD!
Kimmy, sorry that you had to just corner work but it was good seeing you anyway.
It was fun even though I suffered some bike problems during the last half of my races on Saturday.
I also learned a valueable lesson on gear check before going out for the warm up lap...I forgot to strap my helmet so I pulled to the inside of 3 to get it buttoned up. This was why I had to start from 20ft behind the last row :-[ ...I barely made the race.
I guess that's why I'm an Amature...still making rookie mistakes.
Thank you Chris Younger for allowing Mike to finish his Supertwins Race on your bike. Also thank you Kevin Clark for the offer of your bike...again. We should have his motor built by Barber in Aug.
Also thank you Lithium for Bringing gloves for me. You guys are always great.
Sorry I didn't make the Kegel BBQ on Sunday...I had my hands full.
Johnny, I hope your head is ok after your spill in 5.
It was great seeing everyone. Great turn out.
Cornerworking is FUN! I'd much rather be doing ANYTHING at the track than sitting at home, looking at my lonely race trailer! Besides, I spent all of Sunday "socializing" and catching up with everyone.
I agree! BHF is awesome! A lot harder track IMO than Gateway. I had a blast there.
Highlights for me include.
It was nice to put a face to the rear tire... I keep seeing - Chuck ;)
Good to meet Super Dave and buy one of his shirts. Looks like he faired better than his bike from the crash. Glad you're OK.
Watching some dude (not sure who) come down the entrance to the track with (apparently no brakes) rear end a guy, then fall over, almost taking the guy next to him out. LW practice on Saturday I think.
Pitting across from Ptak after a couple years meeting him during LCR school.
Watching the guy tankslap down the front straight :o, slide thru turn one then get up and walk away. Don't know who you are, but glad you are OK as well. One of the scariest moment's I've ever witnessed.
Racing with my brother #711. He drove all the way from PA to race! :o

That was Mr. tshort saying "hello" to Roger ;) All was well, and yeah, Tom had no brakes.
Hey Scott, it was good to see you out of your helmet as well. When I finally find a YSR I can afford we need to meet up at a Kart track sometime. You going to Barber?
QuoteHey Scott, it was good to see you out of your helmet as well. When I finally find a YSR I can afford we need to meet up at a Kart track sometime. You going to Barber?
I'll keep an eye out for a YSR for you. I would like to get it on a kart track sometime as well. Gotta get it looking as good as Mike's though!
As of now, I am planning on going to Barber. Already have the hotel room booked! You two going?
Chuck was that you pitted next to us with the tzr?
Scott- We are absolutly going to Barber. I'm already signed up for the track day, and we are renting a an RV to get down there. See you on the track!
lbk- No TZR in my pit...we have a yellow YSR, and a jank little yellow pocket bike. Whats a TZR?

That was Sean Ryan. He's perfectly fine except for the brown spots he left in his shorts.
QuoteThat was Mr. tshort saying "hello" to Roger ;) All was well, and yeah, Tom had no brakes.
Gee, thanks Alexa for illuminating that. :-/ BTW, that'd be Mr. Expert Mr. Short to you... ;) Geez - I guess some things ya just gotta experience before you actually learn them. So pump up those brakes, y'all, after front wheel changes...Sorry 'bout that, Roger - glad I didn't cause you any collateral damage. Thanks for helping me stop.
Ok Mr. EXPERT tshort ;D. I think everyone has dumped a bike in the pits at least once. I remember one year Rhiannon had just had a killer race and came down hot pit into the paddock and just fell right over.
I've knocked mine off my stand at least twice. :-/
Roger's fine. After all, he won on Sunday. Been griinin' since then. ;) :D ;D ;D
There were 90 bikes in LW practice saturday! ;D
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin....
Not that you've EVER exagerated anything before...... ;D
But by my OFFICIAL count from the bridge there were ONLY 65 bikes in Group 5 on Saturday for the first session and 58 for the second.
Now why would you want to fib about something like that?? Only 65 bikes left plenty of room on the track didn''t it? Are you saying that the session was over before you were able to pass them all? :P
Rick
;)This was my first time to race at Blackhawk and it was a great weekend. The track is good, the grounds give you the feeling that your in a state park, the CCS staff ran a good show, Elizabeth Stein did a great job of singing the National Anthem, Michael Pruitt held an inspirational chapel service during Sunday's lunch break, and there were so many racers there that my grid position for Formula 40 was in the middle of turn seven.
And as for Sean Ryan....
That had to have been the scariest thing I've ever seen. Running about 2nd or 3rd in the pack at the end of the first lap with at least 25 bikes right behind him and to see the handlebars taken right out of his hands by that wobble!!! Talk about worst case scenario! I had visions of him losing it on the track and everbody behind him going down from either hitting him or trying to avoid him. After being on the right side of the track when he started to lose it, to make it over to the grass on the left without anyone going down with him was a miracle!! It looked like at one point the only contact he still had with the bike was his butt in the seat - arms and legs all sticking straight out from the vibrations!
Very, very lucky man. Have to admit the first thing I thought after it was over was wondering about the condition of his underwear!

Hee hee. I was talking to someone sunday and they said, "Yeh, I heard there were 75 bikes in group 5 yesterday." I just figured it was up to 90 or 100 by now. ;D And, yes, it was a blast out there passing people. Just a few too many hairy moments in between. (I had grass stuck all over my tire after the first session. :o)
How is SD doing? and did Ike make it down?
QuoteFirst of all Bernard I'm sorry you had bike problems I know it gave me a chance to catch up in points, but really I'm sorry man. ;D Can't wait to continue the saga at Gingerman.
Thank's Dave. Glad to help your points run. Here to help any way I can! ol But seriously.. Thanks. Wound up being a minor problem with the carb. got it fixed at the track this morning.
I want to thank everyone who stopped by this weekend to say hi and have some food on Sunday. We had an absolute blast!
Well... as far as the race report for this weekend goes... the team had a couple of problems this weekend. Actually, Karl and I were the ones with the problems. Saturday went well but Sunday was not so great. Karl lost his brakes in turn one of the LW/GP. Karl... (as he put it) "decided to take agricultural route"! He suffered no injuries and the bike has just minor damage. Were all glad about that.
I had a mechanical on the last race on Sunday on lap 3. I had a so so start, wasn't my best by any means, after the first lap I noticed the bike loosing power dramaticly. dropped from 2nd to 4th in a blink of an eye. On lap three Im going into t-6 and as I am powering up, with 7 or 8 racers on my azz, my bike dies completley! HELLO!! I made it around to the pits but man, that just wasnt the way I wanted to end the day. Other than that, the weekend was a awsome time! It was great to be back at the home track again. I look foward to seeing all of you at Gingerman! I think ther are some scores to be setteled! ;D Thanks Alexa for taking my leathers with you to be fixed! Tell Roger again congrats for me! He rode his butt off! Great Job!
Thanks also to Paul James for making our weekend such a good time! You rock man! Great job this weekend! I cant wate till Gingerman!
Nice seeing Kim B. O. this weekend too! Like you said, better to be at the track hangin with the crew than staying home wishing you were! Great seeing all of you! Its because of all of you in the M/W reigon that makes us have such a great time at the events! Mark!
It really was a great weekend!
I got to see Kim - KBOlsen #507 & Pierre Montsion #280 (who I had a crash with last season) & Michael Jordan #123 & many other folks. I'm still not racing but recovering nicely from my tragic crash on August 24th last year. . . but both my best buddies won! Don Rankin #523 and Lee Davis #186 kicked some major A** all weekend and their wins ended Sunday in perfect fashion! Everyone did well and no one got hurt.
Did I mention the great "farmers tan" I got?! ;D
Hey Bernard, how did Becky do on Monday?
It was a great weekend. Track conditions were great Sunday and you had to be in the 11s and 12s in the middleweights to win. Stumpy dropped down to consitant 13s so we were happy--well until he crashed, but no big deal! Funny how that happens when you start going faster!
And to see all the people at Blackhawk was awesome--spectators and racers. It was a good time.

Ike was there. He did me proud on the new RR... Despite being out of shape, out of practice and on a stock rear-end, he was still turning low 16's... Very impressive. All I could think when he came around me sideways was "if you wad this bike (that I just spent 2 months building) right in front of me, I'm gonna stand it up, T-bone you and kick your butt!"

Ike's bike is way cool. Good to have the man there.
I'm fine. Usually am. Don't know why I am, but that's where the Super Dave thing got started in 1987. I fall pretty good.
Depending upon who you talk to, my bike was 10 to 30 feet in the air with me following it.
I need a few Yamaha parts. Might have some donated bodywork coming.
Not happy about the little get off, but I can't complain with my times. If I hadn't of made the two mistakes on the first lap, I think I would have had the race covered. I had the fastest lap...that was really, really nice.
It was good to see everyone (except Kwak of course). Blackhawk turned out to be fun once they split our practice group in half and I could actually see where the track goes instead of banging elbows all the way around.
Thanks to Super Dave, KC124, MC Racing, Lithium, etc etc for help this weekend!

It was great, I was psyched that i got a 1:13.45 !!!!
Did u hear me Benji 1!!! 13's baby !!!
After a slightly rough start... it turned out to be a great weekend!
Get to the track Friday, unload the bike, fill it with fuel... hit the key and brrrp brrp brp stall. Spend the rest of the morning double-checking my wiring repairs and stealing parts off of DanO's bike. Eventually tracked it down to a bad fuel pump. Stole DanO's pump for the day, and got rolling. Rest of the day was uneventful.
Weekend Lesson Learned #1 - don't buy electrical parts on ebay, regardless of how good a deal you get.
Saturday, borrowed a fuel pump from a buddy since his engine builder failed to get his bike together in time from their race this weekend.
MWGP uneventful, finished 8th. Learned how important a good start is in expert. By the time I got ahead of the slow guys in front of me... I was riding by myself, as the fast group got away.
GTU, got a better start, tried to latch on to the front group before they got away. 2 laps into the race, I realized... "Hey, wait a minute... is that Stumpy in front of me!?" Stifling my excitement that I had actually managed to latch on to the tail end of the "fast" group, I stalked Stumpy for the first 15-16 laps. I managed to stay within striking distance that whole time, and I felt like I was eeeever so slightly making a little ground on him. Then I made a little mistake in T7, causing me to run juuuuust wide enough to catch the edge of the track. Street instincts kicked in, and I rode off the edge, slowed down, and got back on the track, without anybody getting by.
Unfortunately, by the time I got back on - Stumpy was long gone :( Rode the rest of the race all alone *sniffle* and finished 9th. Was still a GREAT race, I had a blast just keeping up with the guys in the lead group. Thanks to Stumpy, he (unknowingly) helped me out a TON, dragging me to a best lap of a 1:14.38 ;D
With some new found confidence, I was ready to hit the track on Sunday. Got to the track early, got everything set up, and I decided to skip practice and save my tires for the race.
Weekend Lesson Learned #2 - don't skip practice, making your first time on the track that day a race.
Sat around for until my first race (race 5, MWSS.) Totally dropped the ball. Got ready in a panic, got out on the track, didn't feel "right". Green flag dropped, got a decent start, I think I was running 6th or 7th. 2nd lap, rail through T2, downshift into 3rd for T3 and... false neutral. Broke my concentration for that 1/2 second, rode off the track. I think the ENTIRE field got around me before I re-entered the track. Now I'm upset. I put my head down and start to really "try" to catch back up. 2 laps later, I find myself getting tired. Now I'm REALLY upset. Upset that I made a mistake, fell to the back, and that I'm getting tired so early. Make another mistake, running just a tad too wide and catching the grass in T7. Wound up finishing 22nd? with severe frustration and arm pump.
Go back to the pits, clear my head. Something tells me the front end doesn't feel as stable as I'd like... and from my lessons learned at VIR - tires are cheap insurance. So I decide to suck it up, buy another fresh set of tires, and take a fresh crack at it.
As I'm waiting for Lithium to finish up my tires, I get to talking to another racer (Mike Jensen #513.) Shows me how his rear tire is DESTROYED and is having a hard time trying to get to the 15s. I give him some ideas, sell him my old rear tire, and tell him to go talk to DanO to verify that what I'm telling him is right (I'm still learning on the whole suspension thing.)
Next race, MWSB - I get my game face on, now I am ready to roll. Get a good start, latch on to DanO, follow him through the crowds. Who do I find up in front of DanO? #513. DanO makes it around him to take over 4th. I showed 513 a wheel a few times, but couldn't get it done. It seems our advice helped him out... rats! Wound up finishing 6th behind 513. Unofficial personal best lap time of 1:14.128 according to Allison's stopwatch. Didn't get the chance to look at the lap time sheets to see if it was official.
Weekend Lesson Learned #3 - Watch out who you give setup advice to, they just might come back and beat you with it! (hahah ok just kidding here, was glad to help, glad it worked, and it just means I gotta go faster now!) If you're out there, Mike, I look forward to racing with you again :)
So, all-in-all, a good weekend. Set some new personal bests, got my consistency down from ~16.60s to 14.50s. Noticed that the front end still didn't feel nearly as planted as I'd like in the last race (even with fresh tires) so I have some more setup to do - but then, I think I should be able to get down into the 13s easy - maybe 12s if I get it dialed in enough.
Was great racing with everybody... and for those who won't be at Barber - see you at the next BHF in August ;D

Thanks for asking Dave... She did awsome! She had a complete blast! Shoot her and e-mail at work. BECKY.REILLY@MOTOROLA.COM She was really pumped and did very very well. I am very proud of her and al the ladies that took the womens only clinic at LCR. ;)
That's great I'm glad she enjoyed it I really wish I could've gotten Karen's bike done sooner so she could've been out there too. I know having someone else she knows out there would've helped her feel a lot more comfortable.
Steviee, 13's way to go man! See not having brakes does help you go faster. LOL
Ike, I have eyes in the back of my head man and watchmen that will keep me posted about your activities and I'll know before you even try it. Oh and trust me I won't forget that you are looking for payback because that's excatly when it's coming.

Thats my last race of the year.
Im glad u are ok and the bike sounds fixable. take it easy and get some rest. Tell Nate to get on his Job abd get the bike fixed.
I showed up just in time for Dave's crash. ;D

Dave's mishap was unfortunate for sure. :'( However, he did have a big win earlier and he's always a good interview. Dave was also full of smiles :D when Mike (Safety Crew) handed him the "Launched" transponder from his airborn bike. Mike said he went out after dark to look for the blinking yellow light when he noticed all the fireflys in the field. But, he found the transponder anyway for Dave.
I always have a great time at Blackhawk! This weekend wasn't my best lap times by far tho, but at least I didn't crash at all! I'm on a streak now, 2 weekends without crashing! YEA! See ya all at the next Blackhawk, gotta skip Gingerman and Barber :'(
Also thanks to everyone who let my hypera$$ bro borrow their pit bikes! ;)
I had a great time on Saturday and completed the Learning Curves School. Thanks to all the instructors for a good program. I got my numbers Sunday morning and proceeded to crash in the second morning practice - resulting in blood around my brain and a night at Rockford Memorial for observation. So I'm still waiting for my first real race. Oh well, I guess it's all part of the sport.
There's more details on my crash here if you're interested:

Dear Mr. Kevin Elliot:
I think I should stay novice one more year since I am no longer the man I used to be. I know this makes it 3 times I write to you, but since I used to have 2 and now I have none, I think I should get one more.
Regards,
Reverend Brianna Kwak
