Title: twin sprints schedule
Post by: jp233 on July 08, 2004, 10:59:37 AM
I thought twin sprint weekends did not include GT races.  ???  ??? The upcoming Roebling Road weekend only has practice from 8:05-9:30am with only 3 groups?

I do not understand this as I dont think a GT race is much of a "sprint"....its a mini solo endurance. I thought the whole idea of twin sprints was to eliminate the GT races... I know they are point classes and all but

I am glad those are 10 lap sprint races in the afternoons, but one bad crash/spillage in morning practice can lead to a schedule nightmare......

Eric or someone can you shed some light on this? :-/

We just did twin sprints at Mid-America and they had GT races. They were only 25 minutes in length, with the GTO and GT Lights run on Saturday and the GTU on Sunday.

The schedule worked out OK after all was said and done... All the races were run even though there were a couple of red flags.

With the elimination of some classes (Ulta light Light and medium Sportsman, Super singles adn and Sportbike) there is more time in a weekend and Gt races were able to be added into a twin sprint weekend.

Why are GTs a bad thing on a twin sprint? they are a longer race and have purse/contingency.

There is a certain amount of time built into a schedule for down time for whatever reason weather, red flags, techincal issues etc.

That makes sense.  And it will hopefully bring some extra revenue in for CCS.   However, they did still shorten the races and our practice time to fit them in.   :-/  >:(

JP... practice is still the same amount of time.

1.5 hours, 3 groups, 2 rounds each = 15 min. sessions.  Just like a normal weekend, or sometimes better. :)
