Title: Please help CCS soldier
Post by: K3 Chris Onwiler on June 25, 2004, 02:23:44 PM
I'm going to ask you all a favor here.  CCS, SCCA and AMA corner worker Phil Bresnahan is over in Iraq right now.  He works in the army motorpool, so he splits his time between wrenching and riding shotgun for supply convoys.  I guess they're short of Humvees, so they've been building Mad Max gun trucks from whatever they can find!  Phil makes it all sound like incredible fun, but it's a war...
Anyhow, his whole company is a bunch of wrench and rifle weilding gearheads.  I sent him a copy of the motorsports newspaper that I write for, and he said that everyone in the company read it until it was in shreads.  I'll bet we all throw a bunch of enthusiast magazines away every month.  Maybe some of you racers would spend a bit of time and postage, and send them to Phil and his company instead of tossing them?  I'll bet they'd like stickers, too!
So how about it?  Here's the address.  Thanks!

SSG Bresnahan
Unit 91702
LSA Anaconda
APO,AE 09391

Great idea.  Happy to participate.  I'll go through whatever I have and send it.  I know my wife won't mind me cleaning out some of the motorcycle mags I have lying around. ;D
Hey, you don't suppose they'd want to read her Gardening and Women's Daily Whatever Journal crap too, do you? ;)

Thanks for thinking of it.

Hey K3, pardon my ignorance, but is the price for postage the same as if it was a U.S. address?

I cornerworked with Phil once. He's in Iraq :o Anyways, I'll send out the last 6 months of RRW to him. I also got Autoweek, Dupont Registry, and FHM. I'll put the last 6 months together and ship them out. Do they need anything else?

*If anyone can communicate with him, ask him if he'd like a satellite phone to call home with. Free of charge. I can arrange that thru work. Just let me know where to ship it. Tell him I'll include a international charge so he can plug it into any wall socket, and a cigarette lighter charger. Tell him the whole platoon can use it, we don't care. It'll work anywhere they can see the sky.

*Note: This is possible thanks to Mr. Paul Thomas, Director of Business Development, of Globalstar Satellite

Edgar, you are correct about the postage.  Mr. Cornercamping, I will pass that message on to Phil through the mail, but with the turnaround, I probably won't have a reply for a month.  I wonder if the army would let soldiers have such a James Bond gizmo?  Might be a security risk.  Who knows, but I'll surely extend the offer!
