Hey Bob - we've been there (not their ;D) twice, and stayed at the Settle Inn in Council Bluffs both times - $75 a night, next to WalMart/Home Depot/etc, and funky (suits of armor in the hallway). Flip tells me there's a good zoo out in Omaha too, if you're traveling with wife/kidz.
The track is fun, smooth surface, and lots of mud if you find yourself off track anywhere and it's been raining. Some interesting decreasing radius stuff that you just coast through, some technical stuff, and a gnarly tight final turn onto front straight. Follow a fast guy to see the lines or you'll be awhile figuring out parts of it.
I don't think we're going this year - but that could change. Have fun.
There is a hotel right by the track, but it fills up pretty quick. You can get some pretty decent rates for rooms in Omaha (a lot better than $75/night).

the track is getting more and more bumpy spots.
when i was down there last month, some of the spots that had been ripply are even more now. pretty technical track, tireing in the july heat too.
I knew someone was going have a "their" comment the instant I hit the post button.
;)
I am assuming that you can camp at the track as well? Can anybody verify?

Yes you can. No electricity, but it does have showers.
Dawn :)
yes you can camp at the track. i love the track, it's smooth (like glass after just being at hpt ;D), fast, plenty of room. it's not a one line track. just have to watch your tires, the place will chew them up.
