Title: The Moto GP race in Italy....
Post by: EX#996 on June 06, 2004, 05:16:15 PM
... was an absolute thriller!!!!!  I wish I would have video taped that one.

As Paul said "I have butterflies in my stomach and I'm not even on the track!"

Scary was an understatment!  And then the medical personel tearing (with Nakano's help) his helmet off.  We were in absolute shock.  Thank goodness the report is that he is OK.

i know when i had my sever concussion all i tried to do was rip my helmet off, dont even remeber why and my vision was black

The race was sick though.. Rossi is a god,  he was so down on power but would just late brake them and cut under them everywhere

What a great race. I stood and watched the entire race in my living room!!!!!!! What a drag for the rain. I was hoping it would hold out until the end of the race. Don't you think that that being the pinnacle of all racing that they would have better medical personnel. Could you imagine if a racer here in the states blew a tire at 200mph and after tumbling forever if the safety personnel just ran over and tried to rip their helmet off.... You would never here the end of it!!!! I was amazed and horrified all at the same time. I am just glad to here he was o.k.

I was going to comment about them ripping Nakano's helmet off too.  You'd think after all the outrage last year over what they did to Kato, all MotoGP cornerworkers would have a friggin' clue.  It's ridiculous!   >:(

I just bought a DVR (digital video recorder) with an 80 GB hard drive that can record something like a 100 hours of video and then burn it to a DVD with the built in burner. I still haven't burned a disk yet, but being able to record so much racing and keep it on the hard drive totally rocks! I would highly suggest looking into getting 1 of these to replace your VCR. :)

I think that the rain equalized Rossi's horsepower woes...hense the best rider won! I was hurting myself jerking and twisting in the recliner watching!!
Due to my fractured butt of course. ;D that was awesome.  Great birthday present for me!

Subject change:

Does anybody think that Jake will get past 2nd...I've
never seen him behave like that after a race. I think that the feeling of being the first loser is starting to catch up with him, and he is getting frustrated now, rather than happy with just being on the box. I think that he beat himself by over shooting T1 and blamed it on brakes/mechanical...he didn't complain about the brakes until then, and he shrugged off the 4 sec lead that he lost on the red flag, as if to say that he had it all but wrapped up. Don't get me wrong, I really like the kid, but I'm not sure if he can finish the job yet. Chime in if you agree....or of course disagree ;)

I think Jake will get that first win real soon.  I feel so bad for him.  It really did look like he was having some kind of brake problem because he overshot a couple corners.  You can tell it's starting to get to him though.  He's sitting real well in the championship though so once he gets that first one, look out!

We were out there watching Jake blow t5 on a regular basis all day Saturday. Sure 'nuff, did the same thing in race one. He needs to be patient. He's getting over zealous at times and that's blowing his line and his concentration. He will get that win, at it will be sweet.

I hope so...it was way too cool watching Miguel track him down tho. Duhamel is still the "Man" so collected and smooth...I want to be just like him ;) :D

Miguel is half bionic by now.   ;D

Poor Jake...Once again, I thought he was going to cry. I guess the rumor is that his Honda had clutch problems as well, which wasn't helping him by pushing him wide through the corners.

Miguel may be half bionic, but I think Rossi is an alien.

There's definitely something going on with the 1000RR clutch.  Seems like they never get good starts.  On the first start Zemke had the bike lurch big time which has happened all year.  If it were just a technique thing, wouldn't he have it worked out by now?  ???

Are we still talkling about MotoGP??????   ::) ;D

Anyway, Italy MotoGP round is definitely the most exciting MotoGP so far with 20+ lead changes.  Also a great track that allow the man to beat the machine (oh yeah, the different in machine are very noticeable).  If you haven't watch it, you got to!

I just realized what was the best part of this GP: look at the top 10 finishers:
- 3 Honda
- 3 Ducati
- 3 Yamaha
- 1 Aprilla

I realize it may be a little off b/c of the restart, but still, that's the way racing ought to be.  I don't ride one, but I'm pulling for the Ducks.

They obviously haven't seen us MARRC workers in action....they could learn a few things!  ;D ;D

I know in the Midwest/Great Plains, we've got much better cornerworkers than MotoGP!  :)

Do I hear a "Battle of the Safety Crews" in the works?  ;)
It could be kinda like the firemen battles....they carry the hoses up 4 flights of stairs, we retrieve bikes from 50 feet in a gravel trap!  ;D

Sponsors anyone?  ::)
