Title: Blackhawk this weekend the good side.
Post by: lbk on May 10, 2004, 08:08:22 AM
Well it was cool to meet some more new people. Ike, sorry for reffering to you in the third person man didn't realize it was you. LOL

It was cool talking to you and hope you get a bike back together and get out there soon.

As far as the races I can't complain I managed a 4th in supertwins would've had third but I didn't keep the gap big enough to hold of the RC51 at the line.

LWGP finished 5th LWSB finished 3rd, and LWSS finished 2nd but then got DQ'd for the air box opening being larger than stock. Lesson learned there, I'll be ordering a different on that is the same size before the 30th.

Stevieebee, you were looking great out there man, get those brakes figured out and you'll be running up front for sure.

Tz-Brian, I'll be working on my lap times to keep you at bay man. It'll be hard though even having the hp advantage of an SV off the line. You corner like a madman on that thing and definitely can't keep up once you pass me. :D

Kim, glad to see you finally feeling better. I know the last couple times you've been at the track you weren't too happy with your riding, so it's good to see a smile back on your face.

And YZFRob, glad you were ok after your little get off.

I also had a great time at Blackhawk, racing with Tom Short, Steve(?) Alexander, Karl Kegel, and Edgar Dorn, to mention a few. I should have gotten an SV sooner. It reminds a great deal of my TZ, which helps the corner speed. (lbk - you will figure it out, then I'll have one more SV to worry about ;) ) I am really looking forward to the rest of the season.

I think that's what I love best about the lightweight class is people in there are really cool.

I talked to Karl after the Formula 40 race I guess he finished 2nd but didn't realize it, thought he was in first. It sounded strange to me at the time, but then when I was in second for the LWSS race I had no idea what place I was in. It gets hard to keep track of. :D

Besides, I get to raz Bernard now which is always fun luckily the whole Kegel racing crew are really cool.

Brian? Tz250 Brian? I only raced with him in the LWGP race and he finished 3rd I think it was.

Third, did he let 2 slow SV's beat him?  Do you know who won LGP amatuer and expert?

LWGP expert was won by Ed Key. Stiles got 2nd and I got third.

I am not sure how the AM's finished...

I too had a GREAT weekend at BHF.  I didn't win any races, but did win the coolest helmet numbers contest, so I'm bragging about that...

The big up-side for me is that I ran consistent and good laps, I was comfortable and I HAD FUN...

hahaha yeah I let 2 slow sv's beat me. About a bike length at the line for 2nd though. I'm content since I started the race on the last row.  :-/

The Rev. looked sharp TZ-Boy. He was held up the first 3 laps then it was on! he was pick'n em off and closed at least a 10-15 sec gap to get 3rd. Nice job Rev. Brian Kwak D.D.S.

tzracer I just connected, screen name, bike and rider together. You are the LC instructor with the 03' or 04' SV650 aren't you? I was over there asking you about it on Saturday I think it was, how you liked it. Anyway, you also were the one to answer my question about the vapor lock. Thanks! :D

Considering the last row start, your poor start's and your inability to pass slow people you did ok.  As far as you looking good, what was you best lap time?  Yes this is the Sandbagger with the YPFL (yellow plate for life) sticker.

  No Boyd, Sorensen, Hall, Rentschler?

Sorensen stayed home knitting a new skirt.

I didn't see Brian or Aaron this weekend...

Hey Kwak, just make sure you pre-reg for May 30th at Blackhawk so you can start on the front row with me.  Lee seem's to be the fastest's Am SV pilot and he is tired of my smack talking so he is signing up for LWGP also.

Edgar are you racing on the 30th?  Maybe I can do a repeat from RA this April and catch you from the 2nd wave. :P

ha! my inability to pass slow people? You mean my inability to make hairball moves on slower riders and ending up in the grass?  ;) As far as times go.. my best in the race was a couple of 19's. Maybe you should turn expert and eat some humble pie.  ;D

That would be me. Did you get the vapor lock problem figured out?

Yep, mine isn't a Vortex but it had something similar. I took that little allen key out and you could see the little check ball you told me about. Did that before this weekend and all weekend never had a problem. :D Thanks!

Geesh can't a guy trash talk without getting threatened. :D

Kwak sound's like you had the fastest Am lightweight times for the weekend.  Lee did 21's or maybe a 20.  Is the track slower I heard someone say patches?

Kwak you know I don't need a slower rider just to end up in the grass and I don't like humble pie it's sour.  Seriously the only way I am going to get any faster is to turn expert.

Nah.. the kid that won the race was on an Sv and in the 19's too. I don't think the track is slower even though there is a patch in 6a. I think we're all just a bit rusty. You coming out to Friday practice?
Title: Re: Blackhawk this weekend the good side.

Practice I don't need no stinking practice.  Practice typically makes me slower as I tend to repeat slow times over and over and it feel's like work.  Now Super Dave's school sounds like something that would help, a fresh examination of what I am doing wrong.  But if you guy's were that rusty maybe I need it.
