Title: Buell's are fun.
Post by: Baltobuell on May 09, 2004, 10:01:12 PM
Let me start by making everyone that reads this board know, In my mind you are all super star experts.
My local Harley shop, Baltimore HD Buell, had a test ride a Buell weekend and they asked if I would be a control rider. So being honored I said sure, and I'm glad I did. They had their regular Harley test ride guy in front and I was to keep stragelers on the right path and try to bring em' back alive. It would take too much computer space to tell all the stories but picture hard core macho biker dudes mingled with a few beginer just got a licence folks, a GSXR guy now and then, a cruiser guy or two, and saturday traffic,.... all on a dozen XB12R's.
I learned 2 things, the fact that I drink alot of beer finally has value and Harley Davidson/Buell motor company definitly has cahoona's! In the end, only 1 guy had a real problem, loopin it at a light, Nice kid, it just got away from him. I guess the moral of the story is if you ever get the chance to do something like that, do it. I'm still soaking it all in but the bottom line is it was a fun way to make friends and some of the people are priceless.

:-/  I've ridden both.  It's still a Harley  :-/  Considering "Harley" maintance (from what I've heard), I'd buy a Ducati again.  Atleast then I'm getting a true race bike.  Either way, both Harley and Ducati = lots of $ that I'd rather spend on tires.  ;D  I don't have to worry about maintance with a Beemer.  A friend of mine was the head tech at a BMW shop, and now owns his own Aprilia/Guzzi/Ghezzi-Brian shop and is still hooked up with the Beemer shop.   :D  I'm gonna buy me a K1200 LT when I grow up  ;D

That is exactly why my street bike is a BMW (R1100RT). 60,000 miles with no problems. The RTs have full body work. I can change all fluids and check/adjust the valves without removing any bodywork. All bikes should have heated hand grips and electrically adjustable winshields.

You guys are missing the point. The people! At the end of the ride, there's a banker laughing with some guy with a leather vest and a nose ring. Some kid all happy he didn't fall over. and the occasional serious buyer that wants to know more. I guess I'm just taken by what seemed like complete lunacy as we pulled off the parking lot the first time, turned out to be so much fun.
