Title: Iowa less 1 deer.
Post by: Super_KC124 on April 26, 2004, 03:40:01 PM
If it was not bad enough I was so solw at Road America, I went an hit a deer at 75 mph on the way home. :'( Had to spend the night in Iowa City and change out the radiator this morning in the Orielly's parking lot. ($400.00)  The 5th place wood I received for my efforts cost me about $4500. :o How much do you think I could get off e-bay for it if I threw in a set of used knee sliders? :-X

See... I TOLD you that you should have stayed longer!!!

I'm glad you're okay!  Deer are tasty but that could have been quite awful!!!

And more thanks to the Buxtons for the hospitality!

I'm driving to Cedar Rapids next weekend.  The deer you hit obviously is the same one that would have been running across the road right in front of me!

Sorry for bad luck.   At least you wern't in Germany - they would have fined you for destroying wildlife without a permit!

Too late.  The $8.17 to buy your 5th place wood now goes to the airfence fund.  You lose  ::)    ;D

At registration. You might give CCS a call. If it was your first one, they might feel sorry for you and bring it to the next race. ;D

A BIG ONE!!! ;D Not enough left of it to tell. It kind of exploded! It had no antlers but most deer have lost them by now.

Too bad you weren't still hauling that trash barrel from MAM.  You would have had something to tote the meat home in.  That poor truck...

I feel your pain. I hit a deer this weekend myself at Summit during a NESBA track day, unfortunately mine wasn't on the way home , I did it on the track and destroyed my new SV 1000. Fortunately I didn't get hurt.

Does this make Kevin a White Plated Deer Slayer?

And that story about the SV1000?  Oh man!  I'll bet you almost died of fright!  That had to su-uck!  Years ago, I was corner working at Road America during AMA weekend.  On the first lap of the 600 race, a doe and a fawn wandered onto the track between 11B and 12.  That's a semi-blind, 175 mph sweeper.  We didn't even have time for a flag.  The lead group of about 6 bikes flew through the two deer, and somehow no contact was made.  I almost had a heart attack just watching!

It was definitely scary. I was saying in my helmet  turn around, turn around, turn around,oh shit!!!!
Here is a link to some photos of my bike after the hit. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ahastings1/album?.tok=phyZcBBBNDiD63Q1&.dir=/9592&.src=ph

Is that you in the checked leathers?  You look a bit pale...
Hey!  If you have the stomach for it, your bike looks rebuildable!  I've certianly fixed worse, blood and guts notwithstanding!

Yeah, that's me. I already started ordering the parts. Fortunately it was on the SV and not my GSXR because the frames are are a lot stronger on the SVs

Arnie....

I am sooo glad your OK.

I don't ride my bike on the street anymore.  Where we live, deer are like mosquitoes.  Driving anywhere close to dusk is a nail biting experience.

Once again, I'm glad your OK!
