CCS SW and Pac racer Nick Moore is en route to Europe right now, getting ready to test and race the Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR in the next WSS round at Misano.
Just 18 years old, Nick wowed the inductry when he carded a 12th place finish in Supersport at his first AMA race, at Fontana. Shortly thereafter, Pirelli race director Eddie Roberts made the recomendation, and the tryout race was set up.
Nick was "blown away", saying that this is in fact living his dream.
Look for a full piece and interview from Europe next week.
Wow! I can't wait to watch more of our CCS family doing their thang.
Way to go Nick. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D He'll be running SS you say?
That is awesome. WSS riders are just amazing to watch. I hope he does well. Man, what I would do for a Ten Kate 600rr... (well, that and the talent of Foret or MacPherson)
Wow: that's great for Nick. I raced against him a couple years ago, when he was 16 (allegedly). He was racing 125s and kicking some butt. I think he started out racing YSRs. His dad was basically driving him all over the country doing road racing and dirttrack events. They had decided to switch to 600cc four strokes, to maximise the chances of nick getting hired to ride something. Looks like they figured right.
I remember he was a real nice kid, quietly confident, and smart enough to search out and learn from the older guys who were faster than him, like Brian Long, Mark Ledesma, etc.
When I saw that SS race from Fontana, I was shocked to see his name on the grid. I did not realize that was his first pro race! I hope he gets the ten kate ride. Go Nick!!!
that's freakin awesome. I hope he does well so I can say I raced with him way back when (I am an amateur and he's not. My main goal was to not be lapped by him!). :D
That is freaking wonderful!!!! Nicky should do really well in WSS. They like to race close and aggressive and that is definitely his style. He is a good kid and deserves this chance. I hope he does well. Tristan- have Nicky pm me or email me- I want to keep in touch with him so I can report his sucesses to our CCS racers at the track. Congrats Nicky!!
I found out the other day when Nick's dad called me and told me. Awesome.. Just awesome.. Crazy how they just bought an 04 gsxr600, and get that news ;D
Nick said the Ten Kate bike has 140HP at the tire!!
We're really proud of Nick.. He's come a long way since he started road racing.. I remember seeing him on the Libasci 250 'priller.. and that P.O.S. old gixxer600 that blew up at our trackday nearly 3 years ago ;)
