Title: Did you wait to figure your taxes?
Post by: Dawn on April 12, 2004, 09:14:42 AM
We're TOTALY swamped at work today with questions like:

Why did I get this 1099?

I need money for my tax bill and would like to....

Was I supposed to get a 1099?

Everyone knows that they need to file and it's due by 04/15/04.  Can anyone explain to me WHY people wait until the final hour to do it?

Dawn   :-/

I'm pretty sure the 4-15 dead line is only if you owe.  If Uncle Sam owes you I think you get forever to file...

People put *everything* off...  Besides wasn't Federal income tax created to fund world war 2???  Maybe someone should let the cash-fiend, money-grubbing feds know that we won...

We PAID a month ago.  Yuck.

Of course, the City I work for screwed up my deductions (my fault--I should have caught it before it was too late) so we really got hit.

I've never been one to procrastinate anyway.  I get too stressed and just want to be done.  This was a very good thing in college!

You still must file by the 15th even if uncle sam owes you. Besides, why would you let the government earn interest on YOUR money?? ??

My (under-ambitious) girlfriend didn't file for about 4 years striaght.  When she did file, she got her refund.  I don't recall the particulars but was told that since she never owed, it wasn't that big a deal...  You probably guessed it, I'm *not* an accountant  ;D

I waited. Was gonna file for an extension and do my taxes during summer, when school was out. (With the business, it takes a lot of time and effort)

Then I remembered that I needed to fill out my Financial Aid application which needs #s from my 1040. If I don't fill that out before june, I might not get $ next fall.   Of course I only think of this about a week ago.  :o

Now I'll be coming down to the last minute, and I'm gonna have to pay.  :P :-/

Maybe I'll take more business trips next year.  ;D

I have to file a 1040, Schedule C, Schedule SE, and a 4137.  :o :-/

OK...that's mildly amusing.

And didn't you show up to the practice day last week?  I believe it was you asking about a ramp???

Ummm, taxes, when are those due ???  ;)

Yes I will get money back, but I am a proffesional procrastinator so I have to wait till I get to do my yearly appearance on the 10 o'clock news as I'm dropping my taxes in the box at the post office on April 15th. ;D

QuoteGee, will that make you famous? ::) ;) ;D

It's happened numerous times, I have even been interviewed on live TV about it. I haven't let this success inflate my ego beyond belief, so I'm still willing to sign autographs!  ;D  ;) LOL

I normally wait till the last minute to do taxes...

Its not that they are difficult, or that I owe money.

I just hate doing them. (must be looking at all the money I give away each year)
I did mine this last Sunday as I am out of town on Bizz. and would not be able to mail dothem/mail them on the 15th like normal ;D

Mine were done the first week of February.  I can't stand having that looming over my head.
