Title: Formula 40
Post by: Eddie#200 on April 06, 2004, 12:26:50 PM
Ok, Now since I didn't run at Topeka I can't say too much, however only one guy racing in Formula40 expert?

Here's the deal... you need a field of racers to collect contingency money right?  Minimum... what is it, 6 riders in most cases.  Splitting up the Formula 40 class in two with the new lightweight class causes the grids to be too small to get paid.  That's a problem since many of the racers quit before age 40.  I hope this class isn't cancelled due to low interest.

Any thoughts?

Atleast you'll get top 6 points, and have an awesome shot at the podium  :P

Hey there, ;D

Yep, still racing...  I'm playing with the young folks this season.  My focus is on Formula-Sportbike.  Hope I don't get run over too baddly.  I'm also going to run the F40 races that are run the same weekends as F-USA events.

The collar bone healed up ok.  I don't want to do that again anytime soon. 6 weeks out of your life sux.  I keep looking for your name to show up on the roster... I feel I owe you one wink, wink ;)

Stay in touch.

Hey there Eddie,

One piece that you may not be accounting for is new racers coming aboard after the age of 40.  I'd asked questions on ths BBS earlier this winter to try guage whether F40 is "safe" for total newbies to racing or whether it is more like the senior PGA where it's experienced racers who are now...er... more seasoned.

So long as the class isn't canceled any time soon, there may be an ongoing fresh crop of amateurs rising to the expert ranks.

With the exception of the canes and walkers hanging off the tail sections, it's probably the safest class to run in ;D :o :-*

Well Thorny, all things are relative.  If I had these props:

"CCS amateur National champion - Sportbike
Middleweight Superbike - Blackhawk Farms Track Champion."

And on top of that felt comfortable enough to give Super Dave a wuff ticket in another thread, then I suppose F40 would seem pretty tame.

Or, did you say...er... write what you did not so much because of the times in F40, but since F40 racers are too old for dreams of any glory beyond kissing the trophy girl?  There aren't the "no guts, no glory" moves seen in other classes by younger riders?

Mid-life crisis?  Naaaw.  If I was considering it in order to prove something or because I wanted to hang with your sorry arse, then the term crisis might apply ;)

As is, I've jumped enough, froze myself enough and been in enough bull games for one lifetime.  This just seems like a cool adrenaline rush.  An interesting challenge.

I just don't want to be out there and be a hazard to others.  Especially good lookin', smack talkin' mates. ;D

Cheers to ya

Yeah.  Wait until you see Benji in his purple spandex body suit with toilet paper hanging out of his nostrils.  Makes me aroused just thinking about it! ;)  (Yes, this is ACTUALLY a look the Benj has sported at the track...)
