Hey all,
Are there "special" prices for the RA weekend? I'm assuming things are different from the standard 70/50/35 structure....
Want to fax over my registration, want to have the totals right.
Jim:
They are different (listed in the Daytona flyer), but I won't know what they are until I get home tonight.
Dawn :)
Called CCS, got an answer. Here it is, for anyone else who may be interested:
First class is $75. Each class after that is $55. No differences whether it's a money class or not.
Also - for those who may be interested - if you're pre-registering and want to use a CCS certificate, you need to fax in a photocopy of the cert along with your pre-reg - and then bring the cert to the races and hand it in at registration.
Yeah this has me all confused too...do you have to pay for both days for say mwss or does one fee cover both days?? Also when do we get some real practice? 1 or 2 sessions a day is not that much especially when you have never been to the track. Sorry, this is only my second weekend so maybe this is the norm, but it seems way different than heartland...

It's a twin sprints weekend, so you pay for each race, not each class. Lets say you run LWSS and LWSB on Saturday and again on Sunday, you pay for 4 races, not 2 classes. Does this make sense?
I guess I could call to find out, but can you include the wristbands, and is it more expensive to register at the track like years past?
Entry Fees are more expensive at the track. I don't know about the wristbands.
Dawn :-/
Nick,
Hang in there. Road America is NOT the 'typical' track. It's a twin sprints weekend combined with FUSA. Entry fees and gate fees are higher, etc.
The track is incredibly expensive to rent, so CCS does end up bumping the price and getting in as MUCH racing as possible to recoup the costs. However, once you're railing through the carousel you will forget all of this and it will be worth it.
For me, one good run through the carousel is better than one good RACE at BHF...
There are reduced prices for wristbands if you preregister.
See the online preentry form for details:
https://ourshop.merchanthost.net/ccs/pre-enter.html
FROM THE FORM:
ROAD AMERICA COMPETITORS ONLY!
You can now buy gate passes for your friends, crew, and family too.
Please provide the names of the individuals you would like to buy
special discount tickets for. Each three day gate pass is $25.00
Please list the names of all people needing the gate pass below.

Man, I don't know that I will even bother then. Its at least a 10 hour drive and I will get very little track time. It would be cool if we got one full practice day, but I dont' really feel like getting smoked haha ;D We'll see though cause my bud's are good at talking me into this stuff lol!

NESBA is holding a track day on Thursday.

Yeah but I think its like $200 or something, plus I have to come another day earlier. I guess I am just surprised they dont' build more practice into the weekend but maybe thats normal. Like I said I am new to racing so I am probably bitching for no reason lol ;D

Road America was my first race ever last year, no track days ever. I did one practice and talked to Super Dave about the track. I think I did alright, it is a pretty fun track, expensive tho yes. If it's in the budget you should go for it. ;)
Nick,
There is no track or organization that will "give" you a full day of practice.
Now, it may just be me, but the last time I looked at the code for their "secure online entry" there was nothing secure about it.
You enter the information in the secure website.
You click submit.
Submit is linked to a common Perl script called formmail.pl (or formmails.pl)
This script sends form information to various recipients via EMAIL which is about as insecure as you can possibly get.
I talked to Kevin last year about this and he assured me that they just get a notice that there is a registration ready to process on the secure site, but that's not how the script works and it would make no sense to use this script via this manner.
I use this exact script for my insecure email forms on my sites.
Looking at some of the Online Pre-Entry forms which people processed and were walking through the pits with, they were cut and dry, Emails...
If this is your thing, so be it, but I'm not convinced that this is the least bit secure, and when it comes to entering enough information for me to take out a mortgage (name, SSN, address, phone, CC#, etc) I have no desire for it to be the slightest bit insecure.
Read the code yourself...
But I could always be wrong.....

....
The 2600 (hackers quarterly) vol. 20, #4 has an excellent article for ANYONE who thinks stuff is secure online, especially email. In fact, if you are even remotely worried about internet/computer security, use wi-fi, you should be reading this publication to find out exactly what you need to do to protect yourself.
QuoteNick,

I realize this, but like at hp for like $80 you got a full day of practice on saturday-that is much easier to swallow than $200. Its no big deal, I'm not mad or anything, I just need to make more money ;D

I have not raced on RA, only been on it once with Keith Code's Superbike School. Even if you can only shell out to run 1 race, on 1 day, it's worth it. The track is an incredible roadcourse you'll never forget having run. Now, the long drive is another story. :o
The Team Challenge is being held there.

New and already hooked - as the addiction takes control! ;D LOL (And you haven't even gotten to the point of sacrificing everything else so you can get more money to race more! ;D ;D ;D)
Friday at RA will have 2 practice sessions for each group before noon. After lunch will be the (3) GT endurance races (1/2 hour each) and the 250km Team Challenge starting at apx. 3pm and finishing out the day. Saturday and Sunday will each have only 1 practice session before the races begin. All of the practice sessions previously mentioned are included with your 1st entry for the races at RA.
Entering a GT race on Friday is a good way to get some extra track time and warm you up for the races on Saturday & Sunday. This will also prepare you ahead of time for the feeling of getting smoked by the lead Experts as their lapping you on one of the 3 top speed sections going 180 mph! ;D ;) Just Kiddin' ya!
Since we only go to RA once this year, this is a somewhat rare opportunity to race at the largest roadrace course in the US. There are only a few tracks in the US that you get to reach the top speed of your bike, and this is one of them. Since this is a FUSA combined event, and the fact that RA usually has good attendance, this will probably be one of the largest CCS/FUSA events you will attend. Especially if you've never raced at RA before, I would suggest giving it a try at least once. Good luck if you decide to take the challenge! :)
Yeah, and you don't need to make more money. It's not about how much you make, it's about how much you spend.
I mean, Ramen noodles and Tuna will easily sustain your life, and will provide extra tire money.
Leave no extra lights on and make sure your heater is at no higher than 55. A person can live at this temperature. Your utility savings will allow for at least 2 cans of VP U4.
Disconnect your phone and cable. This alone will be 2-3 race entries.
And always remember. Hitch-hiking IS cheaper than taking the bus!!!
It's all about priorities man....
Haha, you guys are right about priorities! I really am quite frugal so I can afford this stuff, but I did have to fork out some cash over winter/early spring to get my bike ready to go. Really the problem is that I had to spend a lot more my first weekend than I normally would so it put me behind a bit. I really need the extra practice time cause I still haven't got my bike sorted out yet suspension wise so I will save some money and do a local trackday in a couple weeks for 90 bones so I can get my set up done and get some track time-my ass is a bit rusty from not riding the last 5 months ;D

About the RA Entry Fees Again. I can just register at the track correct? I don't really care about grid position at this point in my racing. I plan on racing LWGP LWSB or Super Twins and LWSS on my SV. Three races total.
So I get to practice in the morning and then qualify. Qualifying is for grid position correct? Not if you race or not.
How much $ is it going to cost me to race three races and get into the track on Saturday. Anyone know?
Thanks
Nick
If you pre-register, 3 races is $185.00. :-[
Grasshopper
FUSA sprint races have qualifying (Team Challenge does not)
CCS EX Unlimited Grand Prix has qualifying all other races are gridded by date of entry.

As Eric said, Qualifying is for the FUSA classes and the CCS Unlimited GP class only! All other classes are based on order of entry. The thing that sucks at RA is the fact that you only get 1 practice on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 2 practices on Friday morning if you choose to go that day.
Since this is a Twin Sprint event the sprint schedule is run on Saturday, then again on Sunday in the reverse order as the day before, along with the FUSA races. If you plan on following certain classes all year you should enter those classes on both days if you can afford it for championship reasons. You may be suprised at how well you may do overall at the end of the season, even a 5th in points for a particular class might look good to a potential future sponser.
At RA the entry fees are more expensive, $75 for your 1st CCS class, and $55 for each remaining CCS class for pre-entry. So in your case your race pre-enties would be $185 for 3 CCS classes. The costs are more expensive if you enter at the track (post entry) I think your 1st entry is going to be $100 (but I'm not sure), and all remaining classes are $75 each, so post entry would be $250 in this case. Pre-entry closes 2 weeks before the event, so this is the last chance you have to pre-entry for RA (pre-entries must be faxed in or recieved online before the opening of business at CCS on Monday morning).
Gate fees are $35 for Fri thru Sun, $25 for Sat and Sun, and $15 for Sunday only. You can get a break on a 3 day pass if you order it ahead of time (before April 21st) by calling CCS or putting it on your pre-entry, that cost is $25 for a 3 day pass. I don't believe your going to be able to purchase a 1 day pass for Saturday only, so I think your going to have to pay $25 for the Saturday/Sunday pass if you buy it at the track.
I hope this helps you out. :)
