Title: Rims
Post by: smoke on April 05, 2004, 07:03:50 AM
What if any thing do I need to do to get a set of RIMS from a gsxr 97 600 to fit on a 2k2 600?

Unfortunately the 99 rims didn't fit up to my 01.

If I recall correctly it was a spacer issue. I didn't have any 97-00 spacers\axle available to see if that would make things work but using the 01-03 spacers\axle didn't work for me.

with the correct spacers it should work-only thing I wonder about is the spacing for the rotors cause I know they changed the caliper mounting location on the 01+ models.  One thing to think about though is the 'srad' wheels are a fair bit heavier than the newer ones...

Lonny Michaels told me that he'd figured out how to do it, but I don't know the trick.

Thanks guys

I was trying to save some money and figure out something to do with the old bike.  I see a new set of rims and a rain/stunk bike.

Yes I did ,  :D
front special spacer and an axle from 96-99
:oBut I would not recommend using the front
the rotor spacing is differant
I destroyed a set of rotors under sever head shake
I dont Know for shure but I think it was because
the rotors hit the inside of the callipers

REAR
use all the spacers and sprocket carrier from 96-99
If I remember right there is no problem in the rear.

I used a marchesini front wheel designed for a 99 gixxer on my '01 1000.  You will need to shorten the axle nut/spacer by 3mm or shim it out 3mm (I have a pic of this I can post tomight).  I did not have any problems with heat, warpage, or headshake.  The rotors do get spaced furhter out, but the calipers can compensate for this by the piston movement.
