I went through 3 packs of dzus fasters rivets last night and not a dam one stuck in place.  I could pull the bracket right off the rivet.

smoke..do u know how to properly put a pop rivet on???

This is also why i buy the dzus fasteners that just slide over the bodywork
they work great

Are you using the correct length rivets?  Are you aware that rivets have different grip ranges?  The reason for this is to accomodate different thicknesses of materials being riveted together.  Sounds like you're using a rivet that's too short.  Either that, or the hole you drilled is too big.

either that, or some people think they only need to squeeze the rivet gun once..u need to pump it like 5 to 10 times to get that rivet nice and anchored

No, No and the hole my be too big, that mean larger rivets right

Either the hole is too big or the rivet too short.  I'm guessing it's the hole.

Soft materials tend to pull through as well.

A trick that can be used is to find a small washer which will fit over the backside of the rivet before pumping it on...

If you drilled the hole too big, you're in trouble.  Either forget about that mounting point and move the fastener over a couple of inches and try again using the correct hole size.  Or, the next option would be to go to a larger diameter rivet.  i.e.  if you're supposed to use a 1/8" rivet but you drilled the holes too big, so go buy some 3/16" rivets and try again.  Drilling the holes to the correct size for the rivet is essential.

As far as rivet length goes, measure the thickness of the bodywork, and the thickness of the dzus fastener and add them up.  You want to pick a rivet that has a grip range that will accomodate this thickness.  For example, if the bodywork measures .125" thick, and the dzus fastener is .090" thick, you'll need a rivet with a grip range of .187"-.250"

And quicktoy was right, you may need to pull the handle a couple of times to get a good "pop"
